Yes, same car.

No offence to the owner, but it ruined - he has painted the front panel, sills and other areas in black underseal/ If he actually took the polishing agent off it, advertised it and cleaned it up properly he might just get some proper interest, but he seems a lazy seller.

As Skodanorman says, go out, find a Rapid for around £1500 with say 50k miles on the clock, needs paint, needs welding, needs seats retrimming, probably a brake refurb, etc, and numerous other items replacing. Get it all done professionally, cost around 6-8k. So, you spend 7.5k - 9k total and have a non original car with 50+k miles worth about3.5 - 4k tops, whereas for probably 2k more than you've forked out, you could have a 2k miles car thats 100% original.

I'd hazard a guess its Skoda Turqouise, 5187, a colour available from 8/73. Looks too light to be 4466 Laguna blue - no relation to the mediocre Renault of the same name .

Red mist lifted-what to do with a 136 with bust engine?
MagicRob replied to mender's topic in RWD Skodas and historics
A black Rapid with no MOT recently sold on ebay for a grand, a white Sport with no MOT and needing tyres recently fetched £1495 within days of being advertised, an S110L in orange sold for £3495 last year, again within days of being advertised by a company local to me. There are still 150+ Rapids left in the UK , plus those that are still hiding in barns/lock-ups etc, so there are still a few to choose from that will come up for sale from time to time. Estelles with MOT and good bodywork will get decent money, but 4-speeders and 105s with dodgy paint and no MOT will struggle a bit. That current black Rapid seems genuine, and apart from the exhaust is unb4stardised. The only thing I would question about it is why go to the trouble of putting an unleaded head on the car and sell it after 100 miles - overheating problems maybe....??? -

I have seen a low mileage Cabriolet fetch £5000, and non-MOT Rapids reguarly fetch £1000+. Good, solid, genuine low milers with MOT & history will sell themselves. -
Bill Hunt from Skoda GB lived near Ely, and our local Skoda dealer was also a distributor, so got a lot of the Press cars and specials for sale. D880FYE was the Estelle 130L Sport from the 86 Motorshow, and ended up living near me in Peterborough, and the late Sir Peter Titterton- (Mr.Skoda GB himself) turned up at our local dealers open evening in D879FYE, the black 130 Rapid cabriolet, back in 1987. We also had E833OEX, the white motor show 130 Rapid Sport live close by too. John Shelleys 130 LR Group B was also at the local dealers.

D880FYE was the red 130L Sport, D879FYE a black 130 Rapid Cabriolet.
