  1. One and only price drop to £1350 for a quick sale. Need it gone so I can pick up my new car....
  2. Hi, I'm in Southampton, 5 mins from J8 on the M27
  3. Unfortunately for the time being I need to sell my VRS (having three cars is just a bit greedy!). I plan to get another at some point in the future though Its a 2003 Skoda Octavia VRS in yellow. It has 117k on the clock and it has FULL service history with every bill to back it up. Most importantly the cambelt and waterpump were changed this year back in April this year. It was changed before this back in 2009. The last full service was also done in April 2013. Mechanically whatever has needed doing has been done. This car also benefits from a full gearbox rebuild to the tune of almost £1000 back in 2010. As such it drives absolutely perfectly and the gearchange is really sweet. It is taxed and mot'd until the end of April 2014. There are some age related marks of course, there are some stone chips on the bonnet as to be expected for something this age. Suspension is absolutely perfect, rides brilliantly with no knocks of any kind. New link arms were fitted not so long ago. Its also very good on fuel, easily see over 40 to a gallon cruising and average 37-39 over a full tank with mixed driving. I suspect it has been mapped but I've not had it on a rolling road to find out. It certainly pulls really strongly, no problems with boost etc. Wheels could do with a refurb if you want a perfect car but as its my cheap hack then I've not been too worried about it. It has excellent Hankook Ventus V12 matching tyres all round, loads of tread left. Interior is in pretty good condition too. It does clean up nicely, no rips or tears in the leather, just some normal wear on the drivers bolster. Only thing that doesnt work is the air conditioning, I think the aircon clutch is broken as it doesnt engage. Heating works fine other than that and for the two weeks a year we need aircon its never bothered me. Only other 'faults' are that the starter motor is slightly slow to retract after starting the car, but works fine (new one about £50 off Ebay). And also the secondary air pump is leaking but I will supply another air pump which I have modded and tested. I was planning on replacing both these bits but they are not a necessity. Oh and I fitted a brand new Heavy duty Varta Silver battery only about a month ago. I do have the engine cover btw, its just not shown in the photo Any questions please drop me a pm here or direct to me at [email protected] Looking for £1500 or close offer please
  4. Do you still have the standard airbox? Cant spot that its gone. If so I will take it off your hands, would also need the attachment bolts if you still have them? Many thanks
  5. Good call about the coil packs chaps, will look into that. Good news today though, car has new thermostat now and temp is spot on Also its had a bit of a clean!! Is this better?? (well its not perfect but its a good start!)
  6. I've had a quick look a the fuses on top of the battery which are ok, but I havent delved too deep as yet. Once I get the car back I'll go through and remove things as you suggest and re-fit. I suspect though that the low speed resistor has packed up which seems pretty common. I've also spotted a device called a Nime Box so will look into that too as an alternative to replacing the fans.
  7. Has anyone bought one of these at all?? Just looking to the future really at the moment, appears the good old first stage resistor has packed up on the fans so either have nothing or full speed ahead! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380680478171?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  8. Ideally what I wanted to do was return to a standard airbox with a K&N panel filter. I cant imagine an unprotected cone filter offers much benefit in its current application, too much hot air being sucked in. I can buy a secondhand airbox but wanted to be sure that no other pipework/sensors etc had been messed with that will stop re-installation.
  9. I think its just the photo, used the wide angle setting which does distort the edges. The car rides perfectly and was MOT'd not so long ago. I'd have hoped that a broken spring would have been noticed though as its going to the garage tomorrow they can have a quick check.
  10. Cleaning duties will come later, important stuff first.... While I'm reading more and more its bringing to light little underlying problems that need to be sorted out. Looks to be common stuff though. Latest one is that the fans don't come on when I turn the air conditioning on... sighs....
  11. I've added a few photos below to show the engine bay of my car how it is now and as I picked it up. Fairly obviously I'm missing the standard airbox and have a rather manky K&N in its place. The standard kit did not come with the car. I'd like to go back to a standard setup if I can but if not I'll change the K&N. The question is, can any eagle eyed forumeers spot anything else that would normally be there but is missing? I also have a Forge DV installed instead of the standard DV, is this a good one to have? Seems to work ok as far as I can tell. Also has any of the air 'plumbing' so to speak been altered? Annoyingly the thermostat has gone so its going to have that replaced tomorrow. Its not opening and as a result the top hose is hot and the bottom hose is cold off the rad. The fans do cut in but above the 90 degree mark (not that they will do anything with no water flow!).
  12. Hi everyone I've just picked up a rather nice yellow Octavia VRS, my first Octavia but I did test drive a yellow MKI when they were brand new! First impressions are really good, car just needs a couple of little bits looking at but nothing too great. Did over 400 miles within the first couple of days of ownership and easily got over 400 miles on the first full tank of fuel This is a second car at the moment as I also have a restored 205 GTi but thats not suitable for long runs, where the VRS is. I'm Southampton based and you'll find me at Goodwood a lot so keep an eye out for me!! Tony
