  1. https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/industry-news/skoda/skoda-master-plan-czech-brand-gears-up-for-electrification/ And battery technology is far from stagnant, they're working on solid state batteries which will be safer and charge in 10-15 minutes if the charger can supply the power to do it. But these things take a long time to get from the laboratory to the consumer.
  2. That looks very nice, I want one
  3. First I would try some upgraded 55w bulbs, like Night Breaker Unlimited's (+110%) and they're about £15 a pair in H7 on a well known auction site. Going to 100w could damage the wiring with prolonged use or even damage the headlight itself with the extra heat.
  4. I would go for PCP if I get a new car, probably a Citigo as the back seats and boot of the Leon get very little use and a 7 mile commute is not brilliant for it's 2.0 diesel engine... Also it's been peeing me off recently with the central locking and climate control both going haywire in all this cold damp weather, so a warranty is looking pretty attractive. I do have positive equity on it but do not have a stack of cash, if I were to buy a car purely on what I have in the bank it would be a 10+ year old corsa or something
  5. If it happens then all you can do is pull over as soon as it's safe and re-set it, turn the car off for a few seconds and then back on. If you capture it on camera then that will be very useful to the dealer tying to re create the fault. As above, I wish you an uneventful trip.
  6. I would go steel, more resilient to damage if you do slide into a curb/pothole. If you go to MyTyres they have a section for wheel and tyre packages, for your car they have a few different sized tyres to go with the 15" steel wheels. For just one spare then Ebay, The fabia takes a 5x100 bolt pattern with an offset of around 43mm +/- 5 is usually ok. ( http://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Skoda/Fabia%20(2007%20-%20)/ )
  7. You are, but there is a 80 bhp re-map available
  8. So the new xenons will not be as bright as a decent pair of +100% bulbs like the Philips Xtreme vision that I use? You would have to really want the look of projector headlights to spend that money.
  9. The mobius is not really a car cam but can do that, there's a really thorough review on YouTube by "techmoan" that might be worth a look for a sub £100 camera.
  10. Oil into just one cylinder sounds pretty serious (piston ring failure?), It's not a supercharger or turbo fault as those would put oil mist into all 4. Not good, hope they sort it out for you with a minimum of fuss.
  11. I don't think my local sales person liked my "Is that why it's cheap? They've forgotten the colour and lacquered the primer" comment... Still fancying a red Monte as the Citigo idea went out the window when I asked my brother to sit in the back, he's 6'7'' and doesn't like the back of the Leon so anything smaller back there is out.
  12. If it's a regular knock knock knock that's related to speed then my best guess is a CV joint, if the rubber boot has split then the grease gets flung out and it runs dry then gets noisy. For right turns it's usually the driver's side. I don't know if your warranty will cover it though, ware and tare...
  13. A number of cars driving about with no lights on quite oblivious to the thick fog earlier today... One even flashed at me. I presume it was because I was using my fog lights, in fog... Fancy that...
  14. It also has absolutely no connection to the steering. There are a few reports of similar things on the up forum but I don't think they have found a definitive cause yet, my thought from the descriptions is that it's a sensor in the column that freaks out occasionally and gets the idea that it needs to provide assistance one way or the other, and tells the motor to do that. Problem is that once the system has re-set with turning it off and back on the fault usually clears and might not happen again for thousands of miles.
  15. Before the Starlet GT was a small car with more in common with the VRS, the Micra (march) SuperTurbo, 108bhp from a 930 cc engine way back in 1988...
  16. That wouldn't last a week round here being that low. I cant imagine why, those things give me a headache.
  17. Ah, okay, slightly confused as the link in Jenshagen's thread goes to an Ebay listing for H11 Cree led's... Either way they look good
  18. H11 fitment, plentiful choice out there but if you look in the projects area there's a Monte in there that's running Cree led's... Looks good with a hint of blue. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/281144-jenshagens-fabia-mc-2013
  19. I think paying attention to the person that you are actually interacting with is 'Common Courtesy' but as a bus driver I know that along with common sense it is not actually that common. It is highly annoying when someone boarding the bus see's asking me for a ticket and telling me where they are going as a inconvenient interruption to their spouting of tripe about the latest mouth breather on Jeremy kyle. Personally I am polite and will acknowledge anyone who shows me the same courtesy, with passengers I greet every last one of them but a lot either completely ignore the greeting or just see my lips move and put their pass away before I've had chance to see it, those get shouted back, a high percentage have a phone glued to the ear....
  20. And to answer the point on the coolant, it would normally be changed along with the water pump as the system has to be drained to avoid a mess when the pump is removed.
  21. After you have used the washers the wipers do a few sweeps as normal then after a few seconds they do another sweep.
  22. I loved it in my old BMW, it had a 2.8 fitted but the badge on the back said 316 i... I miss that old thing. More relevant, I had a bit of a shock from a bloody Passat taxi... From the badges on it we were evenly matched but no, i couldn't keep up
  23. I love those things They let me know from a mile off that the driver probably has no real interest in driving and things going on around them so I try to give any vehicle with 'eyelashes' a wide berth... I expect the driver to do something silly other than buy such things and fit them...
  24. When giving the cyclist room goes way too far...
