  1. Well its finally been done. Spoke to SUK and they chased with the garage. Still took a couple more visits which is far too much to fix what should be a calibration of the sensors. I love the car but if they can't fix faults or do repairs correctly then its the servicing that will make me question whether to buy a Skoda again.
  2. My car was hit in a carpark after someone decided that the handbrake didnt need to be applied and their car rolled backwards into mine (i wasnt even in ther car). Since then i have no end of problems with the Front Assist radar. The front bumper was replaced by Blade Skoda in Gloucester and the front assist has never worked properly since. It has now been back to them 4 times, calibrated 3 times and on its last visit it had the Radar unit replaced. As soon as i now turn the car on i get the "Front Assist is not avaialble" display on the dash which stays there for the whole journey. I've contacted Skoda about this and its obviously something Blade Skoda just cant repair. Has anybody else had problems with this sensor and what would the advice be as i dont want to spend more time dropping the car off to them for no reason at all. Any advice or help here would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I too was having problems finding somewhere that listed the MkIII wiper blades. Eventually i found some at www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk. Bought the ABD ones and they fit perfectly. £20.28 for both front windscreen blades and fittings. Not too bad
  4. I've got a 1.6 TDi and have so far done 33,500 miles, mostly motorway. A regular drive is around 100 miles one way and I easily see 64mph at a regular 70mph. Around town I can get 52mpg indicated. Using a fuel app I can see the computer is reading around 2mpg too high. I think it's key to ensure you follow the breaking in period listed in the manual. I followed this religiously and am happy with the effiency I get. Not sure if it makes that much difference but worth trying in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Great, thanks for checking. Saved me ordering some on the chance they would fit :-)
  6. Been looking for some replacement wiper blades for my Octavia MkIII Hatch and not many sites list the MkIII. Does anybody know if ones for a MkII would fit? Both MkIII and MkII are listed as 24" for drivers side and 19" for Passenger side but i dont know if the fittings would be the same?
  7. Yes I love the small dimensions of my family car. It's why I bought it ;-)
  8. Ordered mine in July and it was delivered Sep with it fitted. If it was taken out in Oct brochure it might be touch and go. I thought it was removed from cars before oct though?? Got to say I've never had a problem. Triggered it a few times, one where someone suddenly pulled out in front of me on a motorway and a couple when people turning off in front of me. Brakes never applied though, just a stage 2 warning (beep and red warning on the maxi dot). Personally I'm glad it's there and wouldn't turn it off.
  9. Anyone know if the POI database from the Audi section of the update can be copied to the Skoda section??
  10. Nope get any DAB logos over the air here in the uk. Have had to add them manually. I had to change the logos I downloaded over to JPEG to get them recognised though.
  11. I've just downloaded the Amundsen Map update and unzipped it to the card as per the instructions. I also had a look through the unzipped folders and there are 4 main folders all containing map and poi information. These folders are for each of the different makes within the Volkswagen group. Folder 1 = Audi, 2 = Volkswagen, 3 = skoda, 4= Seat. Questions is that the poi icons (and therefore the poi data) is different for each make. I noticed that there is a PoI image for BP garages in the Audi folder but no BP image in the Skoda one for example. So question is, if the poi database and corresponding images are copied from say Audi folder to the Skoda folder, would they appear in my car or is it not that simple?
  12. Nothing to add to the finance/deal conversation here but wanted just to answer a question in the first post. Yes the Elegance manual does have hill start as standard. It doesn't show if activated but on any incline when you take your foot off the brake it's active and doesn't budge. Works well in my experience.
  13. Here's my 1.6TDi Elegance. Love it and is the best car I've ever had by far!
  14. The SD card supplied is a unique size which is what the system looks for when authenticating the card. Can't remember what size it is but you can't buy the same size card in shops (think 96mb or something like that) If you install the downloadable maps on another card the system won't recognise it. No other option other than wait for the skoda card.
  15. I've got the 1.6 tdi and get around 59mpg with mixed driving and around 64mpg with a long motorway trip. Got to say I mighty impressed with the mpg on the car!
  16. Maybe it was the early cars. Mine has never had a problem
  17. Really? Mine is the Amundsen unit. Is yours something different?
  18. Now this is probably just me but does anybody else see no point in headlight washers? Can't say I've ever thought that my headlights are so dirty that I couldn't see any discernible difference in light from them. Also squirting them with screen wash without actually have something wipe over them doesn't clean them it just gets then wet. Like I say it's probably just me thinking this....
  19. The voice command is "navigation announcements on/off". When on the navigation screen, press the voice command button on the steering wheel and available commands are shown on the screen. Problem with the turning the volume down is that you need to wait for an announcement and even then you can't turn it off fully. You can only turn it down to 1.
  20. Interesting. Will be trying this on mine later. Would be a great feature if enabled. Do we know if it was enabled in early cars or cars after a certain build date??
  21. That's pretty poor. Firmware updates are easy to update yourself and every other electronic thing out there allows the customer to do it Seems VAG want us to return cars to a dealer for an update, that surely is a waste of time as we wouldn't be paying for it. Why not let the customer do it???
  22. I think someone else said it could be done in VCDS but needed the electric seats to be able to be activated. Something to do with the different seat position switches I think
  23. When using the sat nav I like to turn off the announcements until I'm closer to the destination (don't need directions getting out of my road) I used to go through the menus to do this but then found the voice recognition can be used to turn it on/off. Makes it much easier when driving. Only issue is I've found that it sometimes says guidance announcements are turned on but I don't get the announcements. I have to turn them off and on several times before they eventually turn back on. Definitely a firmware bug, anyone else had this??
  24. Tried this a few times myself and even when following the instructions in the manual it doesn't recognise the files.
