  1. Serve him right if he gets plagued with calls by ambulance chasing 'lawyers' - "had an accident that wasn't your fault?" I'm still getting calls 2 years down the line. I blame the insurance companies for selling data. How come they are immune from the Data Protection Act?
  2. The radio on this unit is absolute cr*p - it suffers from poor sensitivity & selectivity & no amount of signal amplification will make much difference. The AF section of the RDS system also doesn't work (that's where it automatically retunes the radio to an Alternative Frequency when the signal becomes weak & you move out of one area into another). I tried signal boosters on mine & gave up in the end & just accepted it was a p*ss poor design. Pity really as everything else worked OK. The best you can hope for is to buy a DAB converter & plug it into the AUX input, but I don't really reckon it's worth throwing £120 or so at it.
  3. With a 2.4 metre satellite dish & a Freesat box. I am not a Sky subscriber, nor would ever consider becoming one, - their content doesn't interest me in the slightest. The BBC ( & other UK terrestial stations) kindly rebroadcast their signals via FREESAT for those who have difficulty in receiving them via FREEVIEW. The footprint of the ASTRA 2E satellite extends well into Southern Spain. The BBC can only collect licence fees from UK residents. The fact that the beam (much to the BBC's consternation) extends to Southern Spain , & indeed other European countries, is beyond their control, as the Astra Satellites are owned & controlled by SES based in Luxembourg. I am a fiscal resident in Spain & I have my residencia & pay taxes in Spain. If the BBC is concerned about the loss of revenue from Ex-Pats, maybe they should consider launching their own satellite?
  4. I spend at least 6 months of the year living in Spain, where along with 1 million or so ex-pats I can watch British TV for free. I would have no objection to paying for a TV licence for the 6 months I reside in the UK if I could pay pro rata , but no the BBC insist I must pay for a whole 12 months up front! Well, there's no chance of that is there? I'll take my chances, but then I only watch "catch-up" TV & Netflix anyway, Ahem!
  5. For the first time in 3 years I finally feel confident in going down the country lanes at night. The Fabia was the worst car I have ever had BAR NONE for headlights. I had a Triumph TR2 with better lights than the Fabia. The Kia Cee'd has Xenons which are bright & don't dazzle, far better than the HID conversion I did on the Fabia.
  6. Totally agree. At first sight you think "This is never going to fit", & it really does take some bending to fit between the lugs of the shockers. I believe the RARB is made from high carbon steel to give it some 'springiness'.
  7. They can practice what they want in their own country. When we offer home & hospitality to them in our country I believe it is reasonable to expect them to conform with our culture & practices. When in Rome........
  8. Not invading our shores you don't! Even the IRA seem to be confining their activity (such as it is) to their own country. So I'm wrong, am I, in stating that ALL recent terrorist activity in Europe & the UK is the work of extreme Muslims? Don't think so!
  9. People will ALWAYS try & foist there opinion on others, sometimes with determination & a vengeance. You've only got to read this Forum to realise that. It's in our psyche to do just that; without that trait there would be no leaders or teachers, or Trade Union Leaders. The problem is when it gets out of control, & that is what is happening with extreme Islam. Extremists have corrupted the words of the Koran, to make it mean what they want to, in furtherance of their ideal of world domination. How do you stop it? Already too late. By allowing faith schools, the Government (not just ours), has allowed indoctrination & brainwashing to start as young as 5 years old. Result? Young Asian UK citizens grow up hating western values. They are are our future terrorists. By allowing uncontrolled immigration, potential terrorists have & still continue to pour into our shores. The different religions & cultures of the world can never live in harmony - the divides are too deep, - just look at the history of the Balkans to see that. It was only the iron fist of dictator Marshal Tito that held it together, as soon as he died - Poomph! History will show that Merkel & Junckers mass immigration plan (the Kalergi plan, in essence) was a social experiment gone horribly wrong. Glad I won't be around to see the final outcome.
  10. Hi Dan It came off my car, & I used the existing bolts, that's why you didn't get any with the RARB. If you must use new bolts, just make sure they are high tensile, with a nyloc nut. See here:-
  11. We've got to get to the root cause of these terrorism acts - extreme Islam. You don't see terrorism from Catholics, Jews, Hindus, Protestants, Sikhs, Jains or Buddhists. Islam is the common denominator. Ban the practice of Islam on our shores, pull down the mosques, close down faith schools (of all denomination). If people want to practice extreme religion, let them do it on their shores not ours. Personally I'm an advocate of banning ALL religion; it has no place in our modern world.
  12. Look, the French hate us. Always have since Agincourt, & then reinforced through 2 world wars, when we did what they couldn't -freed them! De Gaulle couldn't make it any plainer, when we tried , several times to join the Common Market. Pity the French didn't stick to their guns & keep us out! Now (using the Nice atrocity as an excuse), they are causing as much delay as possible on the busiest week in the year to British tourists (& truckers) simply because they can!! It's punishment for Brexit. The French don't want us in the EU (we are a thorn in their side), but they don't want to see us go either, so anything that can bring about consternation or embarrassment for the UK, will do very nicely. The Spanish employ exactly the same tactics (from time to time) on the Spanish/ Gibraltar border), simply to publicize their claim to Gibraltar, & again simply because they can.
  13. Sittingbull was interested in Bluespark box, but after several messages, I never heard from him again! TMC box was sold to Erik Lars Berg in Norway. The Coil Remover & spanner are still available, FOC - first come, first served.
  14. Now my vRS has gone, I have for disposal (free of charge) EXCEPT for postage. I Draper coil lifter tool, 1 Spark Plug slimline box spanner. Both in perfect condition. I would guess that a fiver would cover postal charges. Anybody interested PM me. GONE

  16. Maybe check the plug gap? Mine was 0.8mm on brand new Denso SK20's . I initially suspected my Bluespark box was to blame, but when I removed it, misfire still occurred, but not quite as bad. I phoned Bluespark Tech Support (they were brilliant) - and here's what they said:- On 21 July 2015 at 18:23, Bluespark Support <[email protected]> wrote: Hi Derek, I remember you really quite vividly and hope that you are well (other than this issue obviously). Misfires on the 1.4 TSI are very common and almost always related to spark problems. Increasing boost pressure almost always aggravates this issue, and whilst its possible that the box could have developed a fault, I would say that a spark problem is far more likely. Fortunately though these issues are very easily solved. You usually just need to re-gap the spark plugs (or replace them with ones with the correct gap). We recommend running a 0.6mm plug gap. There is some more information about this in this thread: http://www.vagoc.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?p=174604 From the factory VAG used to recommend a 0.9mm gap, now due to misfiring issues with standard cars they recommend 0.8mm gaps. Obviously as with any engine the gaps tend to open up over time as the plugs get worn away. If you could possibly check your plug gaps and let me know what they are currently I would really appreciate it. I would be very surprised if re-gapping to 0.6mm/0.65mm didn't solve the problem, but obviously if not I will be more than happy to check over your box thoroughly and repair or replace it for you. Best regards, Edd I took the opportunity to replace my plugs with Denso SKJ20CR as recommended by George (Goneoffski) & regapped them to 0.6mm as per recommendation of Bluespark. Result? No more misfiring no matter how hard i thrash it. Thanks George (goneoffski) & Edd (Bluespark)
  17. If you've got a problem speak to Edd at Bluespark. He's very approachable & very knowledgeable. I would say of all the companies I've ever dealt with for aftersales, Bluespark are probably No1 in my book.
  18. glad everything worked out OK. I like the the new air intake arrangement. What setting do you have the Bluespark on? Just in case you hadn't figured, because the instructions don't mention, the dial adjuster (0-9) are just tenths of the jumper adjustment, so that you can really fine tune it.
  19. This is the PRO version which monitors 3 channels. Recently upgraded by Bluespark & finetuned for the CTHE engine. Easily fitted in minutes, (Full instructions included). Really does make a difference to acceleration & improves MPG. The box itself is in as new condition, but one of the leads has a damaged retaining clip, which does not in anyway detract from the functionability. Only selling because my vRS is now sold. Cost me £199, but will sell for £60 (no offers). Collection from Blackpool/Preston, where I can assist with fitting, if required, or post at buyers cost. Anybody interested please PM me as I don't visit this forum everyday.
  20. Good condition, recently removed from my car which I have now sold. Really does make a difference & sounds awesome. £120 collection from Blackpool/Preston area. Will post at buyers cost. Anybody interested please PM me as I don't visit this forum everyday. SOLD
  21. I did just that, & I'm still waiting, ..... for you to reply, that is. Goodbye Adrian Flux, hello again Chris Knott.
  22. I had this one for a couple of months now. The video quality is superb (front & back). Slim format so that front camera tucks neatly away behind driver mirror. All menus accessed & controlled from your smart phone. To many incorporated useless widgets such as lane departure, frontal collision warning. The endless pinging drives you mad so they are soon turned off. Useful speed camera database though. Good Korean quality & no battery (Super capacitor). Only problem? supplied 32 gig memory card isn't really big enough for 2 cameras, & it doesn't handle 64Gig too well, keeps saying memory card error, & I've tried several known good cards. It does after several attempts load OK (until the next time).
  23. "So, what first attracted you to that millionaire Paul Daniels, Debbie?" A brilliant people watcher & commentator.
  24. I can't understand why the man has attracted such a euphoric following? Wasn't he guy that wasted £220,000 of taxpayers money on water cannon that the law prohibits him from using? The same guy that spent millions on the cable car over the Thames, which apart from a few tourists nobody uses. And a fortune on bendy buses that aren't bendy enough to negotiate London streets? Don't even mention Boris bikes & the cycle tracks that have virtually brought central London to a standstill. The man is a congenital, bumbling mumbling idiot! I personally believe that the role BoJo played in the Brexit campaign was a carefully contrived ploy. Just look at his background. School mate of Cameron, both members of the Bullingdon club, his dad was an EU Commissioner, & he himself was a proclaimed Europhile, until shortly before the referendum. Why the sudden change of heart? Cameron was certain he was going to win the referendum, but just in case he didn't, BoJo was there as a second line of defence. If the Brexiteers won then Boris would, by obfuscation & dithering, be sure to dash the chances of seeing it through. Then Gove (Boris's running mate), suddenly declares he's throwing his hat in the ring, despite all his previous denials, thus confusing the issue even further. Carefully orchestrated plot. Theresa May (a staunch remainer), is almost certain to chosen as the next PM, thus frustrating even more the chances of us ever leaving the EU. If Article 50 is ever deployed in my lifetime, I'll eat the proverbial. It is certain the Establishment will win again. Don't they always?
  25. I've loved the Fabia for the 3 years I have had one. But, I'm getting on in years now, (coming on 72), a couple of weeks ago I got done for speeding at 4.30am by an unmarked police car. This is my first offence in 53 years of driving! I always said that once I got caught I would get rid. Plus, driving to Spain & back 3 times a year, requires something a bit more comfortable. Driving for 10 hours a day with hard suspension, noisy exhaust & high road noise takes it out of you. I still get my kicks, far more than a vRS can give me by flying a 3rd generation microlight (top speed 120knots), & a gyrocopter. No speed cameras up there!
