Skoda placed in bottom 4 of Dealer attitude to Franchise
Bcc212 replied to lol-lol's topic in General Automotive Chat
Skoda's are no longer bargain cars. Simple as that. My Octavia was 16k - 4 months old. That's ridiculous! I had a look at a new fabia when I bought our 2 ex demo monte carlo's. £18000 list price for a top spec fabia. Priced themselves into Audi A1 territory. They need to take stock of where they are and what they are. They make cheap, good quality(ish) cars. Or, they used to... -
I'd say 300+ is enough to get you into too much trouble with speeding fines and ditches.
-
Thanks for the help guys. Didn't need to know in the end.

Couldn't seem to find this, has anyone measured the boot in the estate? Seats down, from the bootlid to the front seats? Just want to know if it's possible to get a dismantled sofa in the back. Cheers.

The thing is, the 5pt harness is adjustable and to be frank, I could damn near cut off the circulation to my daughter in the recaro (if I wanted to). The restraining bar things aren't adjustable enough to fully hold a child. I don't know, I'll go with my gut.

http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/car_seats_chat/a1134543-Cybex-Pallas-not-safe I've also read about other car seats with the same issue, that use the restraint bar. Not for me thanks.

Just in this case Recaro are indeed better than the cybex counterpart. Any system where there are reports that a child can escape will definitly blow your mind when/if you were to crash and said child ends up through the windscreen.

Unfortunately it will be up to you to prove that you weren't speeding. Dashed lines are spaced at equal distances to ensure that the camera is operating correctly (speed=distance/time-flashes are at 1 second intervals, spacing is 30cm I believe.) Might be difficult to work that out without the lines and probably not the easiest road to take a tape measure too. I would assume any judge would take a calibration certificate over whatever argument you have, unless it is indeed a correct miscalculation. I'd ask for a photo, gives you some kind of reference then, at least.

thinking of buying vcds. whats possible?
Bcc212 replied to dub-in-disguise's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Yes. I own VCDS, but I would never buy it. If that makes sense. It's definitely not worth the money if you're just spending 20 minutes doing tweaks and then putting it in the cupboard. -
I did a hell of a lot of research into this. It basically boils down to the fact that children mainly die in cars due to side impact when they're asleep. Obviously other factors play a part, and other types of impact can still kill a child. However, much has been done to reduce that, including the 5 point harness. Some new seats have this bar that goes across them, however, some reports show children can escape from them! So **** that idea right off. The safest way is to keep them rear facing until they're 4. However, I wasn't a fan of this and I doubt you are either. The next best thing is to buy a good seat with side impact protection. Personally I wouldn't buy a group 1,2,3 seat, I think you lose some of the protection you need. I bought the recaro Young expert plus and couldn't be happier. If you look at lots of seats the head area is huge and allows the head to move around a lot, the recaro has huge side impact protection panels and cushions. Not to mention its handsome. It's not cheap, but is definitely well made. Love it. Linky link: http://en.recaro-cs.com/child-seats-details/recaro-young-expert-plus.html

http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/watch-honda-civic-type-r-nurburgring-lap-time-2015-03-06? Seems a handful! I'd be having a brown trouser moment into almost every one of those corners. -
All black Citroen cactus thing. Looked immense.

Bcc212 replied to ChrisRs's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Aha! Had a 1.6 petrol THP in my old Peugeot 207. Nice engine. -
High pitch whirl sound on startup.
Bcc212 replied to Bcc212's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Definitely on startup. In fact. I may have just answered my own question, it sounds like like the starter motor hasn't disengaged quick enough. -

Bcc212 replied to Bcc212's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
It's not actually as high pitched as I may have made out, the pitch is rather that of a hairdryer. -
Is this remotely normal? 1.2tsi 105. Makes a whirl kind of sound ok startup, almost like the turbo spooling up.

Do they use the THP engine? -
Passed a final exam at work. Money stays the same, but means I can now relax at work. 2 years of training finally over.

Oh mate... Come on? I don't want to sound like your dad, but this is day 1, week 1 of the modifying handbook. Every slight adjustment you make adds a potential risk factor for your insurance company. Irrespective if any of your mods make a blind bit of difference. You could be liable for any damage incurred.

This is like me arguing on a makeup forum. Hush now.

Audi S1 BRIEF REVIEW in Autocar and Autoexpress today.
Bcc212 replied to vrskeith's topic in General Automotive Chat
I must say I've seen one in person and it does look ridiculous. It's on stilts. -
Forgive my ignorance, but would that not be the Monte Carlo?
-
I feel like I've been transported back to the late 90's. I massively dislike it, but it's your car! Good effort on some of the mods, must have taken some time.
