  1. Sat at the dealer's just now for the fix (no choice, as it's a Motability car). Booked online, but the system booked the wrong day (it should have been tomorrow - confirmation email said tomorrow, then got a text saying it was today). I booked it for 9am but it never said anything about having to leave the car with them all day, so after a discussion, they're "rushing it through" and it will take 90mins or so if they skip the valet and health check! Surely a software fix only takes a few minutes, not an hour and a half?
  2. Definitely not too small. My chair fits in fine, as did my scooter (although it was a boot scooter that disassembked into 5 parts). My Yeti also proudly sports a blue badge! You'd be surprised how much stigma there is - the UK press and Government have been very efficient in painting those with disabilities or chronic ilnesses as being work shy, lazy scroungers that cheat the system (despite fraud in this area being very small).I've lost count of the number of remarks etc I've had about having a motability car and a blue badge, usually I shut them up by loudly congratulating them on being the first human to have evolved with a built in MRI scanner,X-Ray and Genome Sequencer. As to the Ateca, I quite like it, and I'd happily have a yellow or orange one - I was quite disappointed with the choices available with the Yeti. If the diesels have a reasonable towing limit I'd definitely be interested, but I'm still more than happy with the Yeti.
  3. The fuel economy is steadily getting better as we put in more miles. Really happy with 60+mpg on the motorway and 35ish when towing (and about 35 around town) - it's definitely better than I'd expected to get. As I'm not the only one that's found it easy to stall then I won't worry too much but will get the dealer to check it when I'm next over that way. Will also try and keep the revs a bit higher in 2nd and see how it is. Cheers everyone.

  5. I've done just over 4500 miles now in the yeti and overall I'm really pleased with it, especially with getting 60mpg on the motorway, but we're finding that it stalls very easily at times. A couple of examples : On a country road doing 50, slowed as we approached a sharp bend, down from 3rd to 2nd as I took the corner at 20 (foot off the accelerator) and it stalled. M6 on Friday in heavy traffic, was at a standstill, as traffic started moving moved up from 1st to 2nd, traffic started to slow again but before I could dip the clutch it stalled. Today, turning right into a supermarket, took the corner in second (which is normal for that junction) and it stalled halfway through the traffic lights (light accelleration) I know the gearing is quite different to our previous car, but it doesn't seem to be consistent when it stalls. I could take the same measures at the same place multiple times at the same speeds and it won't stall, only for it to stall another time. Is this something that people have noticed happening with the yeti? If it's abnormal then I'll take it in to the dealer, but I don't want to do that of its just something that can be solved by altering driving style or something. I've never had it happen in any other vehicle, and it also does it when the wife drives it. Cheers

  7. Doesn't look like I'll be converting it after all.. We had a massive caravan tyre blowout on the M6 just North of Keele serviced earlier, managed to stop OK but had to call a recovery vehicle out to change the wheel. Got the wheel on and drove 500m and there was a huge bang, the caravan nearly jacknifed and the wheel that had just been put on shot across 3 lanes of traffic (missing all the other vehicles luckily). Managed to safely get to the hard shoulder again and the recovery van was just behind us. So, it had to go on a low loader and taken to their compound. The insurance company say it will probably be written off even though there's minimal damage, but at least we're alive.

  9. Thankfully we've solved the issue. By no lights I meant Road lights (indicators etc) - internal electrics were fine. The issue was a faulty 13pin to 12N/S adapter. Something must have come loose inside it or a broken wire. I rang the towbar company up who walked me through some tests (the fuse is fitted in the box accessed when you open the drivers door) and ended up unhitching the caravan and taking it to an MOT station who tested the towing electrics on the car (for free!). Bought a new adapter from Halfords and everything is working again.
  10. the rain has been horrendous and the 13 pin to 12n and s adapter was full of water. Ive used some water displacement spray on it that a truck driver had but no luck. It seems that my motability RAC cover doesn't extend to the towbar, which the dealer said it did
  11. Set off home from Devon with the caravan this morning and everything was ok. After about 30 miles I couldnt hear the beep from the indicators so pulled off the road to check and I dont have any working lights on the caravan. Does anyone know which fuses to check or if theres a separate fuse for towbar electrics somewhere? I've checked all the caravan fuses and theyre fine. Cheera
  12. I fractured my back 30 years ago in a horse riding accident and get quite bad back pain. Our previous car was a Peugeot 207 and I found out excruciating on long journeys - after 6 hours from Devon to home I was bent double for days. I drove our new Yeti for 5 hours solid a couple of weeks ago and had nothing more than minor discomfort and stiffness. I think the combination of the seat quality and driving position make a huge difference. We didn't opt for the lumbar support as I tested a Yeti with one in and found it hard and uncomfortable.

    Must change my profile! 2.0 110 SE FL I was on 55-60 cruise control most of the time on the motorway, 15-50 on the other roads. We were going through Hebden Bridge and Halifax - luckily the TDF had moved on to the London leg Caravan is only light but we have a fair bit of stuff with us (SWMBO probably has 3 weeks clothes for 5 days! ).

    Yesterday, we towed our little caravan 150odd miles to sunny Mablethorpe. (After running the car in for 600 miles). After towing with a 1.4 Peugeot 207, towing with the Yeti was an absolute dream. Plenty of power when I needed it and a much more comfortable ride. With a mix of A and B roads (some very hilly) and motorway, Maxidot reports 37.8mpg. I've not had chance to work out the accuracy yet, but if it's anything like the one on the Peugeot, then I'm getting slightly better fuel economy when towing which is a nice bonus.
  15. It might be better, and the standard, but my caravan is 22 years old :P (which is why we specifically asked for twin). Called the dealer and it should have come with an adapter cable, but didn't. Now waiting for them to call back to say where it is
  16. And first problem found - they fitted 13 pin electrics on the tow bar and not twin as ordered

Picked up the Yeti SE this morning (2.0 130 Black) after a brief panic by the motability rep who thought she'd had the towbar fitted to the wrong vehicle - until she remembered it was a detachable :p Went for a trip to Blackpool (100 mile round trip) and so far I'm impressed! Love cruise control; the AC is much, much better than the 207's; the ride, driving position and handling are excellent and I got 47mpg (54 on maxi dot) which I reckon is pretty good for a first run. I need to have a play with things to find where everything is and how everything works, but so far I'm a happy bunny and looking forward to a 250 mile trip tomorrow
  18. Of the weather forecast is correct them it will be wipers on rather than climate control Will be taking it for a 100 mile round trip as soon as we pick it up.

  20. My car *should* have arrived with the dealer today (but they haven't let me know either way, despite promising to do so). Assuming it did arrive, it should be ready on Tuesday along with the towbar (went with the dealer fit in the end). The dealer was very surprised when I told them the car was in the country and scheduled for delivery to them today, as the last info they had from Skoda said that it hadn't been built yet Fingers crossed!

  22. Sorry for staying a new topic but I didn't want to hijack any of the others... My Yeti should be at the dealers on Friday, and ready to collect early next week, but we have a week away with the caravan booked for July 7th which doesn't give long to get a towbar fitted. The company I usually use can't fit me in for 3-4 weeks, so would people recommend I get thr dealer to supply and fit (approx £480 and they haven exactly impressed me so far) or could anyone recommend anywhere in the North West (could probably go further if required)that might be able to do the work to the required standard? (It had to be someone VAT registered too as it's a Motability car) Cheers
  23. I had to call Skoda UK again to find out the progress of mine. The car is built and should be in the UK in the next few days. They've estimated WC July 7th for it to be ready (the dealer said late August!). Just typical if it is July 7th though as we've got a week away with the caravan booked and paid for
  24. Arrived home from a week away to a card from the dealers (finally!). My car (Ordered Feb 16th) was built last week (23) and is expected in the UK Week 28 - seems quite a wait? I'll give Skoda UK a ring on monday to see if they have any better news
  25. Latest update for 16/2 order (2.0 110 SE, no extras) is estimated week 26 build (from est. week 23 last week). Pretty sure the dealers are just sticking pins in the calendar at this point
