  1. Thanks guys. Yes they must have an estate as my father is disabled and my mum puts his walker in the boot (plus they sometimes have my dogs in there also!). They do 90% of their travelling as short trips of under 10 miles so I didn't think a diesel would be a good idea with the DPFs etc plus just doesn't do any long runs to clear it out. Seems this one I found may be dodgy. It's a private sale with the guy saying he bought it was and 1owner. Had an RAC check done on it and V5C says 2 owners and is flagging up with some form of finance or PCP against it from 2013 which is when the ownership also changed so seems a bit fishy even tho seller is adamant he is the owner from new.
  2. It's 1.8 and yes I had forgotten the false floor on the octy (no good for me with the hell hounds needing as much height room as possible). Thanks SSC glad you've had a good experience with it!
  3. Hi all, Yes I'm an octy owner who dares trespass into superb territory lol. Basically my parents have a Passat estate and are changing cars and were so impressed with my octy they were after one too until I pointed out the boot lip on the octy isn't great for them but suggested the superb. Have spotted a 2011 elegance estate (they want auto petrol) which they are keen on but wondering what the common pitfalls are? Also does mid 10k pricing sound right for around 40k mileage? Cheers in advance for any advice!
  4. AMEN TO THAT!!! Great thread and some fab looking dogs on here. I have a special soft spot for black labs as my first dog was a rescue black lab. These days I just have the two hell hounds. They are technically Northern Inuit Dogs. Aunt and Uncle to the Game of Thrones Direwolves. Here they are: 8 year old Quinn Vienna who is 10 later this year I did try and put some video links up but they didnt work lol
  5. Mmmmmm love both skiing and boarding. Been skiing since a child and taught myself to snowboard. Havent been for a few years now but have done both in Italy, Austria, France and the US. To be honest I prefer the States - bigger slopes, better quality lifts, wider variety of runs, vastly reduced lift waiting times. Would love to go again but not going to happen for a few years now I am a poor student :( have thoroughly enjoyed looking at the videos in this thread though
  6. Will have to let you know nearer the time as atm I dont have my shifts for that week!
  7. If shifts allow me to come I will def be camping (poor student dont you know haha). If weather if very cold might be willing to hire out a hell hound for use as furry hot water bottle. Price dependent of course. LOL
  8. Cant say Ive ever had this problem myself lol. However imo beards only look decent on certain individuals lol
  9. Was planning to come to this but am feeling a bit under the weather / knackered / blurgh so fraid I am giving it a miss tonight. Will endeavour to be at the next one providing my shifts dont clash.
  10. Ooh err thats not good at all!! Hope you manage to get the dealer to sort it asap
  11. We are coming up to the end of the first year - second year is gonna be scary! haha
  12. So those few of you who know me in person, know I am rather exercise-phobic, overweight and rather love my food too much... This is very cheeky I know...... BUT...... if you dont ask, you wont get lol. My student midwife cohort have signed up to do a 5k muddy obstacle course to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Yes this includes me running 5k, clambering over and under big obstacles (Im 5'2), getting covered in mud, hot, sweaty, out of breath, wrestling in bikinis with my fellow student midwives (ok that last one might be a lie). Anywayyyyyyy, if you would like to donate to a super worthy cause I would be very grateful! I promise to post plenty of photos of us ladies in all our muddy glory including of course photos of my VRS staying far far away from all the mud. https://www.justgiving.com/Student-Mudwives/
  13. lol it happens sometimes. You probably wont do it again now after giving yourself that little scare
  14. Current VRS = Vin Diesel Previous Octy = Oscar Escort estate = The Dog Car 306 = The Pug Jetta = never got a name B reg mazda 323 = The Beast
  15. In the vrs it was driving to assist/witness at my homebirth middle of 2014. In the old octy (in 2012) it was driving my best friend to the hospital while she was in labour. In 2009 it was racing home from work as I had been told my house was on fire and I knew the dogs were inside.
  16. I think it varies greatly on time of year, sales figures, company etc. At the time I bought my vrs cash got me a much much bigger discount than PCP and this was retty much right after the release of the new model.
  17. Ahhh that may have been the case, back when I ordered. I cant remember now lol it was like 18+ months ago haaha
  18. I found it rather annoying that the VRS doesnt come with them / have them as an option. But hey ho, will have to make the arm muscles work instead lol
