Unfortunately it doesnt specifically mention in the T's and C's whether it has to be Genuine VW parts just that it has to be serviced at an authorised VW retailer as you mentioned. The VW retailer in question has given me the option of Genuine VW disks and pads at £460 or alternatives at £297 so a fair price difference between them.

Does anyone know offhand if VWFS insist on you using genuine parts or whether decent OEM's can be used instead?

Hi There, The Check brake wear light came on, on my 15 plate VRS the other day and I have been quoted over £400 by the local Seat/Skoda dealership, this feels like alot to me, as its a lease im told that work needs to be done by a VW group garage. Does anyone else have experience of getting the brakes replaced and what is a usual charge for this? Thanks

Saw a picture of the tablet holder in the superb the other day, trying to figure out from the pics how it works. Anyone know if this is an option you can get added at dealership to a Octavia with rear center armrest? In my old greenline i used headrest mounts for the kids tablets but it doesnt really work in my vrs.

Only had mine just over a week but extremely happy with it came from a Greenline so the difference in power is pretty big. Loved my previous Octavia so much knew I wanted another just wanted a bit more grunt.

So I took the car to an independent yesterday who confirmed that it is indeed the EGR valve leaking, now this guy figured out the problem as soon as i described the problem, without me mentioning the EGR valve, he has also suggested that I ask for a goodwill gesture from the dealer as it is only just out of warranty and has always been serviced with them. has anyone had any luck in getting a goodwill payment from a dealership? I have asked the dealer and they say I need to call back when the manager is back from holiday on monday, should I be talking to skoda HQ about this as well? Thanks

I have a 2010 Octavia Greenline. For about 4 months now I have had an issue where by the car has asked me to top up coolant every few weeks, this was a slight concern but more of an irritation than anything. I took it to the skoda dealership they did a pressure check and said there was no leak. Then when it was in a few weeks later for a service I raised the issue again this time they said it needed a new water pump. So I booked it in to have this done, when I picked it up they said that the EGR valve was knackered and needed replacing. since picking up the car on tuesday I have now had to top up the coolant 3 times, any ideas what the hell these guys could have done to my car ive gone from having a minor irritation to a massive issue.

Hi im new to the forum so please be gentle. I have a 2010 Octavia Greenline and am very happy with it, it has been very good to me and taken me all over europe (Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy) anyway I had a small water leak which the dealer traced back to the water pump and took in today to have that replaced. They just called me to tell me that the EGR Valve needs to be replaced, but when I questioned them why they seemed vague and said if I don't it "might" start running poorly talking to a friend at work who is a bit of a spanner monkey (im not at all) who has had his EGR valve die on his Audi he tells me it is either something that is working or not and if it's not id REALLY know about it, so when it comes to an Octavia, is the EGR valve a common issue and do you think that I need to do anything, my friend suggests we spend 20 mins popping it off and giving it a clean just after some feedback really. Thanks
