  1. My last car was a focus with a heated screen and I can honestly say I have not noticed the heated screen in my 10 day old Octavia any more than I would notice it in my ford. Then again I tend to look through the windscreen, not at it.
  2. Put the heated seats on full and sit on your hands, just don't try to drive like that ;¬)
  3. I get the impression there are going to be a lot of white estate VRs (with black pack) on the road. All the best for the Wednesday pick up, you wont be disappointed, I certainly am not.
  4. I didn't spec it. The blurb I've seen goes on about boosting the signal by having an inbuilt antenna and therefore reducing the drain on the phones battery. As it's called BT+ I just assumed the signal/antenna they were talking about was the BT one, not the phones GSM (etc.) signal. As for putting less of a strain on the battery, I personally don't think that's an issue when you have a USB power socket in such close proximity.
  5. All those talking of swapping the bum rests from a different car seem to be forgetting the stitching is also on the steering wheel, gearstick and possibly somewhere else that I will spot once i finally get my motor. I'd much rather have a matching set than a mix'n'match interior. I ordered red stitching but if I was you I'd learn to love it, at least you won't have to put up with the eye combusting inserts in the seat back..
  6. Does is specify red stitching on your order form? If not then I don't think there is much you can do. If it does, then you could ask for some form of recompense, though as stitching colour is no cost option I'm not sure you'd get much. Could be worth asking for a free dealer fit option, like roofbars or similar.
  7. Another product I wasn't aware of. Looking at the fitting video it seems that the hardest part of the fit is getting the right length, hence the palava with with the wheel rotation, cutting and glueing. Logic dictates that as they only slide between the rim and tyre and are not being fixed to the wheel/tyre in anyway, once you have the correct length you could remove and refit as necessary. Logic has failed me in the past though. Personally I'd be worried about the air tight seal when fitting so would be wary. That being said Quentin likes them and I doubt he'd put his name to something that essentially broke your wheel/tyre fitting. I guess I'm just overly cautious.
  8. You get that response no matter what number you put in (try 123456) , unless of course you actually ordered from the companies involved.
  9. What's sadder is that when it comes to ship tracking sites, there are enough of them for people to have a preference. This ones mine.
  10. I'm going for a couple of sets of these and some rope. Ok, maybe more than a couple of sets.
  11. Although I'd be a tad peeved if I was in your situation, I have to admit to being a little bemused by your deliberations. Yes the car is substandard, but it works just fine. Yes you will be paying for it until the new car arrives, but it's not like you will be expected to make the balloon payment. The way I see it, you aren't really losing anything, in fact you'll get another 6 months of (relative) stress free motoring, will hand the car back and it will be someone else's problem. You'll probably lose out more if you were to cut and run. Skoda have agreed to replace the car, so realistically they have done everything that is required, if you get some form of goodwill then all the better. Place your new order, don't pay any order fees etc. when you do, and in the mean time "drive it like you stole it".
  12. Canton is the upgraded speaker system, 10 instead of 8 and includes a Sub. Maxidot is the info screen in the dash, default is a two tone affair, colour is a paid for option.
  13. Darker wheels tend to look better on lighter coloured cars and vice versa. I was leaning towards the graphite #4s and although they probably wouldn't look too bad, i think the blue with its metalic finish would be complimented by a silver wheel. So I'm going for #2
  14. My advice, give it more than 31 minutes before expecting a response. Saying "have to pull it almost quarter way before it locks" isn't very helpful really, as a quarter of what? a quarter of its overall range? which if its only 4 clicks is nothing IYSWIM. Having not taken delivery of my car yet I'm not sure if what you are describing is an issue or not, but some manufacturers handbrakes allow for a degree of movement before the ratchet clicks in.
  15. Ordered beginning of August, dealer called today week 43 status 20 with ACC. It should be home in about 4-5 weeks with a bit of luck.
  16. I believe Status 10 is an estimated build week that is subject to change, you can also modify your order whilst it is in this state. Status 20 is a confirmed build week and once assigned your order cannot be modified. Not sure about 38, not heard that one before. As always, I could be wildly off the mark.
  17. When seeing smoke from one side becomes too much for me, I will at least not have to decide which side to attach the hose.
  18. Probably mentioned before but they could be disabled due to UK laws, which last time I checked are out of SUKs control. "You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves. Law RVLR regs 25 & 27"
  19. Could it just be that a lot of the dramatic noises of the past are being diluted due to legislation (and fuel prices) forcing the ever more efficient design of engines and exhaust systems. Any car manufacturer will know all to well that part of what attracts a person to a car (enthusiast or not) is how it sounds, in order to give the owner that auditory caress sound generators are used. I'm not really arsed about the sound generator myself, I'm generally too busy giving my own rendition of whatever song is playing at the time to listen to the engine note, fake or otherwise.
  20. Are you after speed limit or road signs, they are two completely different things. Speed limits use GPS location in conjunction with the mapping software to display the speed limit assigned to your current stretch of road. Road signs uses onboard cameras to read and display road signs (only available with columbus according to other threads).
  21. The vRS brochure lists the red as Corrida Red.
