  1. Very pleased with the performance of my DSG 1.4 tsi. Friends comment on how quiet it is and how good the performance is. I previously had a 2ltr superb and performance seems to be just as good. Fuel consumption averages low 40's but nearer 50 on a long motorway run with ACC which is great.
  2. One of my few cribs with my Octavia is the blind spot, which is not good on motorways. Is the blind spot functionality standard or an optional extra. I guess the latter because I can't find it in the Driver Assistance menu.
  3. I moved from a Kia Ceed to a Skoda Superb because for a diesel the fuel consumtion was awful.
  4. I have found that ACC can be adversely affected by a lorry on the inside lane and can slow the car down. Normally if ACC starts to kick in it is time to change lane to avoid losing too much power.
  5. My superb seemed to suffer from this. A specialist glass repairer (yellow pages?) did seem to get rid of the worst scratches
  6. I had the same dilemma as you. I loved my Superb but at 5 yrs it was time to change. I couldn't justify the cost of a new superb but went for a 1.4 TSI Octavia estate. My mileage is similar to yours and at the moment I dont regret the downsize especially given the spec of my Octavia. Yes there is far more room in the back of the superb but if you don't take many passengers does it matter. And yes the Superb is far mor refined and appears to be better built but you tend to get what you pay for. I am pleasantly surprised at the performance of the 1.4 engine. Go for a test drive and see what you think!!
  7. I was lucky the driver left his phone number on the windscreen. There are some honest people about.
  8. Probably not the sort of photo you want to see. Side swiped by a taxi while parked. Two new doors required!!
  9. This is the second time it has happened. I locked the car and returned several hours later to find all windows open. Fortunately not in a public place. Is this a fault, erroneous key press or some other reason. Any ideas?
  10. Gerrycan DSG and radar CC but not much traffic. Tyres Dunlop standard size. Don't know what av speed was but very similar on both trips. No wind. About 8 miles @60mph; 2miles @40mph and 2 miles less than 30mph. Have a lot of motorway driving coming up so mpg will be interesting. I will probably be in normal mode. Is eco likely to be better for city driving?
  11. Overall I wouldexpect fuel economy to improve as mileage increases. My point is why is eco mode apparently worse than normal mode?
  12. Now that my 1.4TSI SEL Estate has completed 1000 miles I thought that I would try a test for fuel economy in eco and normal modes. I used the same 12 mile route two thirds dual carriageway where I kept the speed to 60mph and used cruise control in exactly the same places. Engine fully warmed up for both runs. MFD showed 44.2 mpg for eco and 46.4 mpg for normal at the end of each run. Apart from the waste of fuel!! I was really surprised at the result. Anyone else tried this?
  13. I am having same problem. Unfortunately my wife got to operate the system first. I have set my seat position and once I am in the car and set user to me the seat moves to my position. However it will not operate correctly when using my key fob to open the car. The seat reverts to my wife's position. In my superb it worked everytime. Looks like a trip back to the dealer.
  14. Hi, Me again with the next question. I continue to compare FL3 with my old superb. When the headlights are on dipped beam should it show on the instrument cluster or does it just light up on the light switch cluster. Main beam displays on the instrument cluster. Fortunately I can normally see when the lights are on!!
  15. took mine out of my old superb. Almost fits perfectly
  16. Have had the car for nearly a week now. So far so good. One day I may master the infotainment system!!. Overall I like the look of the estate except the rear end. Think I prefer the flat back panel rather than the "dented" one.
  17. Brolly was in the glove box, now in its proper place!!
  18. Thanks. The double press on fob works. Didn't think it was going to and then I read that the alarm doesnt activate for 30 seconds after locking doors.
  19. Thanks. I wouldn't leave the dog in the car for any length of time. No pillar button so I will test the double locking. Thanks for your replies. No doubt I will have further questions as I don't have a degree in Infotainment!! and you all seem more knowledgeable than the dealership.
  20. Facelift Mk3. Anyone know how to deactivate the alarm (eg for when leaving dog in car for a short time). Superb has a switch on pillar. According to the manual it is Car/Settings/Opening and Closing but I can't see anywhere on the screen to deactivate.
  21. Picked the new car up this a.m. Very good, apart from not having the leather upholstery, the spec and functionality is far higher than my Superb Elegance. I am even getting to like the Pacific Blue colour. Didn't know that it would have stop/go technology and it even fits on the drive with a bit to spare!!
