  1. Just had my car back from the dealer. They did the entire passenger sill, including some stone chips near the rear wheel arch. And the boot. I'm very happy with it, to be honest. It took a week, and the courtesy car wasn't exactly nippy (Automatic Citigo), but I can't complain. It's saved me a chunk of money from doing it myself. Plus they lost the rear fabia badge and are ordering a new one, which means it currently debadged. Think I'm going to leave it like that, as it does look very nice imo. I've had a quote of about £200 for the other sill and bottom of the door, which I'll do after christmas.
  2. Mine's only 7, so I wouldn't have expected it to have the issue in the first place. I've had older cars, that were cheaper, which were completely fine. It'll be hit and miss though. If I can get half of it paid for, it's better than nothing. I was just going to do it myself anyway so it's saved me some cash. I'll see what happens. Plus I do like the Octavia VRS a lot. Anything will be a plus at the end of the day, I was just a tad ****ed off. I hate these cop out responses from companies.
  3. He's now saying that as I've only owned the car a short while, they might decline it based on the fact that it was a pre-existing condition. The service history means next to **** all, as it's not in my name. Go figure. So we'll see what happens. I'm not buying another Skoda car, I can tell you that already.
  4. Customer services feels like a dead end. I've been told they're not in a position to overturn the decisions, nor can I speak to someone on the warranty team directly as they're internal only. He's going to talk with the dealer to do something or other. It's mind boggling that they have the stones to suggest that one side of the car is corrosion and the other an issue with the paint. Then again, it's a big company, so it's not that surprising. It doesn't take a genius to come to the conclusion that if the boot and the passenger side is corrosion. Then the inside of the door is probably corrosion too, not even mentioning the sill which exhibits the same issues.
  5. They've accepted the claim for the tailgate and the passenger sill. However declined the driver side sill and door claiming 'stonechip'. He's given me some claim numbers so I'm going to give customer services a ring. If they've accepted one and not the other, when they're the same problem, that doesn't seem right to me. The bottom of the door is equally as hard to get to as the boot itself re: stone chips, so my ass that's a stone chip either.. Not massively happy, but fingers crossed I can convince them on the phone. Has anyone had any luck changing the verdict of a claim on the phone?
  6. Does something like this fit easily into a standard VRS, or do you need to do some finnicking to get it to fit / replace the standard IC ?
  7. When the guy asked for mine, he said it was just incase the warranty people wanted it. Didn't explicitly say it was required.
  8. Just took it in. The guy took pictures of everything I showed him, noted my mileage (47k) and took photos' of my service history (full, including main dealers). Said I should hear back before the end of the week as to whether they'll cover it. Fingers crossed!
  9. Skoda dealerships are horrible places. Anyway, took mine in just now. The guy didn't prod / check anything himself, just took pictures of everything I pointed out. Noted my mileage (low at 47k), took photo's of my service history (full, including a lot of main dealer services). Said I should hear back before the end of the week as to whether they'll cover it or not. I'm hoping the lack of prodding, the low mileage and the service history will be taken into account. Probably just wishful thinking, but who knows. It's worth a shot.
  10. I've got an appointment for the various rust parts on mine this afternoon too. Not expecting much, but we'll see what happens.
  11. Got an appointment this afternoon with my local dealer to take some pictures taken for them to send off. The guy suggested it should only be a couple of days until I hear back, as to whether or not they'll cover it. Fingers crossed!
  12. 22, 3 years NCB, one crash on file, fully comp, standard, no voluntary excess. £600 ish
  13. I guess it's a little hit and miss. My ST was immaculate, the only issue was a small lacquer peel on the roof. Other than that, it was fine. After all the talk of tailgates having rust on, I checked mine this morning. There is infact a number of rust spots on the seam (where the button to open is). So I've cancelled the bodyshop and am going to push for the work to be done. This is, quite frankly, ridiculous. Skirts, doors, arches and the tailgate. I'll happily spend some money in the small claims court if need be, purely for the principle.
  14. I caved earlier. Ordered the 0 silencer Piper, twin 3" tip.
  15. No, I feel the same. It's a fantastic little car, but the paint seems surprisingly poor.
  16. That's not bad at all. I can't see how the level of rust in experiencing could be seen as normal. I've never had a car, of this age, that's turned out like this. I did touch up one of the arches a little before I noticed the skirt was also ****ed, so hopefully they won't mind. The rust is still visible on the other arch. Haven't touched the skirt rust or the door.
  17. Ah, ideal. I'll definitely give it a go. If they needed the car that long, did you get a courtesy car or anything? 3 months is a while to go without a car.
  18. Yeah, definitely. I discovered I had mudflaps. This much rust on a 6 year old car isn't great. Its got a predominantly Skoda service history too. I'll cancel the bodyshop and give my local main dealer a ring and see what happens. Take it over and see what they say.
  19. I had a look before, I thought the warranty on paint was 3 years. Although, I just had a look and apparently it can be covered under the 10 year corrosion warranty. I'll give my local a ring and see what they say. I can always cancel / delay the paintwork if need be to check.
  20. I was leaning towards the 6x4, but I think I prefer the Twin 3's. Some good looking cars!
  21. I haven't, no. Had it a few months. Clearly got a little too caught up in the moment to check the bottom properly. Planning on keeping the car for a few years, so getting the work done. Booked in for later this week. I'll have to make sure I clean the bottom better than the previous owner did. Would a layer of wax do much to prevent this in the future, as an added level of protection?
  22. Slightly off topic, I'm contemplating a 0 Silencer Piper cat back for my VRS. Came across a video on Youtube and think it sounds fantastic. Basically, is it going to cause issues come MOT time RE: noise? Especially if it gets louder over time. I've had a couple of loud cars, a straight through Punto (never had to take it through an MOT with it on though) and a Fiesta ST with a non-resonated milltek (again, I never had to take it through an MOT with it on), so I don't know if it's likely to cause issues come MOT time.
