  1. I am still waiting for a resolution to my radio reception issue. A year ago almost, the day it opened took it in there and they said I needed a new module or something, 4 months later still no word on what was going on, took it back and they had another look as knew nothing about a module, this time said that it was a download required...months later...still no download news... take it in again they have it for the day...'can't see anything wrong with it will have to speak to skoda'. That was about a month ago. Question - does everyone else lose signal for Radio 1 everytime they drive to Newbury or Reading (and lots of other places)? I never had isues before, driving all around the country losing signal few times in Snowdonia etc.
  2. Ok I'll admit I haven't been on here for a looooongtime, confirmed by the fact that everything has changed and tbh I'm a bit lost. Until I get used to the new set up can someone assist? These new lights on the FL octy VRS cars, have worked out from here that they are called DRL (I think). Have a mk2 vrs Octy and would like to know if there is a retrofit, where from, how much and who can do it. Thanks
  3. Skoda have finally returned to Basingstoke:thumbup: City Skoda has opened as part of a rebrand and rejig at the autoplaza. Was in the area getting some other things addressed on the car elsewhere and decided to stop in to see what the score was. Spoke to Steven Hartson who works on service there. Asked about warrranty work etc, he said that Skoda UK are coming to the site next week to run through some final set up details before their launch date but as from next week they should be able to do warranty work on site. Saves trying to get to Newbury:). Will get car booked in asap for some minor issues.
  4. Mine was hissing quite loudly when aircon was on behind the dash. Was winter so didn't put on very often. hissing noise has now gone but so has the cold air. had to have the system looked at last year by dealer who had to top gas up after only a year. Back to dealer under warranty?
  5. Not Adrian Flux am biting at it is their 'Legal company'. Would go with AF again for ease but they can't match the quotes i have had from over 10 other leading companies. Writing a letter to AF about all this, may nudge them to rethink who to use themselves, not doing their image any good .
  6. Guess what, no car. Van hit a toyota which hit a lupo, which bounced off my rear quarter and into the bmw in front who then hit the toyota in front of that. Thankfully as I saw it happening in rear view started to take avoiding action and didn't hit the car in front of me myself. Recovered to a yard local to the crash as with no rear quarter light cluster and a squashed wheel I couldn't drive the 1 1/2 hours left to get home. Had to get myself home though:thumbdwn: Insured through Adrian Flux so phoned them They said as not your fault and non liability you can 1.Go through your insurance pay the excess but claim it back or... 2. Go through our dedicated legal company Angel Assistance/Helphire who will deal with all aspects of the claim and arrange a replacement vehicle for you.. Select option 2. It is now Wednesday, I have been on the phone to HH Fri Mon Tues and today, each time they have asked me what were the details of the other party where is my car as they are not recorded:confused:. A hire car was due on Fri, Mon, then Tues.....might turn up today. On Mon I was told that a car was delayed as they needed the 3rd party policy number as they had only named their broker, they would have to ask another department to find those out. I had had enough by this time and found these out myself and phoned them back with them within 10 mins. On tues I get a call saying that they can't give me a car yet as they are still waiting for third party policy number details, which I gave to them yet again. Today I get a call from a local repair centre who have been asked to repair the car, they were not told the car is in northampton and they said can't recover it. By this time it has accrued 6 days storage as well.:rotz: I then get a phone call from my insurers saying that HH have called them and asked them to recover the vehicle, pay the storage charges and repair the vehicle under my policy!!!!!!! WTF!!! My insurers are stunned at HH's ways and means. Am now waiting to see if they will waive the excess and deal with the claim on my behalf. AF said that HH will supply a car but they have now declined to deal with the rest of the repairs etc..:rotz: Been through this before with another company same circumstances, gave them the details once at the roadside, had a car in two hours and only calls were to let me know what was happening...... insurance is up for renewal next week might have to switch.
  7. I've got the same noise, thing is I have more tread on the rears than the fronts so would probably have to do a full 4 swap and that way out of budget.
  8. I have the same car, same problem, has been getting more noticable over last 5k. Like a low pitch (slow bladed chopper in the distance) not continuous drone of tyre noise. I am sure that it is a wheel bearing, have been in enough cars with bearings on the way out to know. Will be interested where you get to, am looking at getting to the stealers to get the bearing done along with the irritating hissing noise behind the dash when the aircon is on.
  9. haven't had a look yet, too cold and wet. Is this easy to get to on a vrs Tdi? Am I going to have to take the glovebox off or anything similar on the outside? Thanks in advance.
  10. They look nice on his car, but just checked the bank and 'computer say's NO' haven't the funds don't think they will go on his new car so if anyone knows anyone who wants them pls let me know.
  11. What are multi fit wheels? A friend has a set of 19in rs8 replices, vgc with good tyres for sale for £400. Not sure they would look right on my mk2 vrs or if they would even fit. Came off an A6 but he alleges they will fit as they are multifit. Sure he will be open to negotiations if i don't have them off him.
  12. I have 452 before and I would get them again. When I got my lat pair I was offered Falkens and thought as the last 4 times I had them from this place they would be 452. It turns out they put the other 912 on. Wear is ok, but in the damp they are poor, wheels spin in third with esp on and have to be very careful cormering. I thought there was a diesel spill when i first drove on these, had to drive differently to accomodate the difference. If I could afford it, for safety sake would swap to 452.
  13. Can I ask a question? I am insured with yourselves and am happy at the mo, (except for the fact it took 6 months for you to tell me that in fact the annual payment I 'made', hadn't gone through as had been advised and I would have to pay now, big hit on wallet at this time of year). I phoned to get my partner and her car (bog standard 12yo old golf estate) insured with yourselves, easier to have all under one company. As she sold her last car and has been driving my car for the last 4 years she had 0 NCB. I asked whether some of my 12 yrs NCB with her on it could be taken into consideration, I was told that the cheapest route by far would be for me to get a second brand new policy with 0 NCB that could be 'discounted' as a result of my no claims on my other policy and add her, rather than her start a fresh policy on her own. Out of curiosity I looked on a comparison site, where I found I could start a fresh policy in her name with 0 NCB for up to £100 less from at least 10 reputable companies (same benefits etc). Would have prefered to have all in one basket but at 2/3 of AF quote had to go elsewhere. Why was this the case, was I given incorrect advice regarding new policies?
  14. My mpg is all over the place. Some days i can get 47 mpg on a long journey (last week) today only had about 38. Seems to be weather based, dry run is a lot better than wet days. Did the same last month, 46 up to glasgow in the dry, 41 back the next day in the wet. Same roads same speeds. Have just had it serviced and that didn't throw up any issues. What is going onnnnnn?
  15. Ok, being a real doughnut here. how the F do you get these things on? I make sure the heated rear screen is on. I have pushed pulled poked even sung to the knob that does my mirror movements and nothing. 07 Vrs so should have it and should be working if i could find out how to switch them on.
  16. First service on my Vrs tdi PD, last week was about £180 at SJB (VAG independent) in Basingstoke was quoted £240 from Skoda dealers in Newbury.
  17. Have been with them before didn't claim or contact them so have nothing to base anything on. Have a mate in the trade who asked who I was with, one sharp 'builders quote' intake of breath and the following 'they are called highway for a reason' (robbers) convinvced me to move when it was up. Initial price is good but i think things can go down hill from there. As hightower has shown above.
  18. i think I have had this judder 07 vrs tdi, had a couple of times when going through a average 50 on motorway then trying to accelerate at end, usually in 6th. Feels like traction kicking in. I (possibly wrongly) put it down to too much torque slipping the clutch as too ambitiuos trying to accelarate in wrong gear.
  19. Can hear a humming from the rear that 'seems' to be getting louder, pitch changes in line with acc/deceleration. bearing on way out? What should I say to the stealers to get it replaced if so, how do I get passed the 'nope can't hear anything'?
  20. I did get Falkens! However...have always been given 452's without asking, didn't know they did others. Had a pair of falkens fitted believe they are ZIEX ZE912 and they are......pants. In the wet I really have to be careful taking any corner at speed had to slow to 30 at one point to get around a slip road onto a motor way, really don't want to be able to wheelspin in 4th either. Really not impressed thinking about changing them already just for safetys sake. Wish i had been given 452's as i thought i would get.
  21. Mine is the same car almost, mileage mods etc. I too think about am i getting what I should? I get a little short of 400 miles driving around town. When i did London - glasgow -London I managed that on just over 1 + 1/4 tanks. I just know that driving my Mk1 vrs the same way around town gave me around 240 miles so see anything as a bonus.
  22. Doh, didn't realise anyone was there. Spent most of my time with some form of alcohol in my hand though. Good show shame about the weather sunday
  23. I had to take mine in after 8k, needed regassing for some reason, think might have to take back to get checked for leaks. Regas worked though. Got mine done on warranty.
  24. How similar are VAG engines. Swapped the Mk1 VRS for a Mk11 VRS tdi, sold my Forge 007p to a mate with a 1.8t A6, months down the line and still without payment he has now turned around and said he doesn't want it as it apparently won't fit. Is he telling porkies and should i just try get the money off him or am i going to end up with a spare DV in the shed?
  25. Nope it doesn't. Have had it 2 months now and have charged it three times. Gives you a verbal low battery message, just have to plug it in to charge and keep the conversation going if really need to. Same connector as my Garmin sat nav and usb connector for computer if don't want to charge in the car.
