  1. Would that cause the maxidot to indicate my FNS foglight bulb needed replacing? Ah! I think I see what you're saying - they are used whether or not I actively switch them on?
  2. I haven't posted here for ages, but as this amazing group was instrumental in my buying my Yeti, I' delighted to report..... Yesterday I had my five-year MOT and the car passed with flying colours! Given all the warnings about diesels and low mileage I'm delighted to report 23247 miles covered, almost all of them in suburban south London, with an annual 200-300 mile stretch to UK holiday destinations, and only one 'problem'. My near-side fog light showed up on the maxidot a few weeks ago as needing replacement - ironic really, as I don't think I have ever used them!! SWMBO has taken a shine to the car over the years, and is likely to take it on in place of her elderly Zafira whilst I *might* consider a Karoq in the new year. Will never be the same though! All the best, Tony
  3. Thanks, Lee01 - might have to pop out and see if they're still there now - but it's raining, and surely a Skoda main dealer wouldn't........ okay will check in the morning! Had the spare from my previous Passat taken during a service at a main dealer................. much worse - was discovered at an MOT soon after! PB
  4. ...... to this Forum, as discovering it, and reading the Yeti section, was the clincher when deciding to purchase my Yeti a couple of years ago. I was grateful then, and am grateful now. Had my second year service today at 9939 miles (I know, I know.... wrong engine and all that some would say!), and have to say I haven't had a single problem whatsoever. Hope that's not tempting fate!! It's been huge fun to drive, and the occasional old age need to give an unsuspecting, and previously tailgating, Beemer a run for its money from the lights has unfailingly worked. Always encourage them to stay close afterwards so they know they've been seen-off by a Skoda! They don't see it coming, do they . Other wise, I drive quite sedately.. honest ! Have adopted the Brisky wave where ever I've been, and had a number of friendly ones in return, but, funnily enough, I've never ever seen another Brisky sticker.... anywhere. Mine's on the top corner of the driver's side windscreen for all to see - where's yours?!!! The only bit of bling I have added to the car over the time I've owned it has been a set of Skoda logo dust caps on the tyres. That said, I have a set of chrome fog light trims somewhere - must fit them sometime! When I took it in into my dealer this morning I was advised it would have the 'VW problem' sorted as part of the routine, as I have one of the engines associated with the difficulty. When I collected it, it hadn't been done, and I was informed I should now await a letter. Ho hum............... PB
  5. 127.9 in ASDA. MD showing range of 10 miles: filled up with 54.3 litres. PB
  6. If bigger brother = Yeti II, then yes. I was surprised to have it suggested that the current Yeti may only be getting another FL though? It will be a bit long in the tooth by 2018, and the engines will certainly have to be updated (IMHO). I'm not sure a mere FL (which, to me, implies a change in external appearance only) will satisfy the current owners in four years time? PB
  7. My dealer suggested last week that the Yeti would get another FL when bigger brother is launched in the UK in 2018. PB
  8. Nearly a year old (how time flies when you're having fun!) and had never seen another Petrol Blue Yeti............ until today!! In the grounds of Woldingham School, Surrey - anyone here? PB
  9. On page 45 of the 23rd April 'May Special' edition of Auto Express (which I bought to leave lying casually opened on the coffee table at the Driver Power winner's page when guests come round ) the 'Yeti+2' is shown for 2015. I have a fear that whatever the MkII (if that is what this indicates) brings it will be bigger, which will not really suit my needs at all. I've only had my Yeti six months or so, and I'm already looking ahead to the next - shocking, isn't it. Never had a car like that before!! PB
  10. Have to agree with all that has been said about the colour's unceasing ability to 'change'. I love it, as does SWMBO. It wasn't my first choice of blue, but the blue I originally wanted (don't ask what it was!) was discontinued. Certainly about as far from a base blue as you can get! PB
  11. After six months I only discovered the elasticated band across the top of each of the front door wells yesterday - another nice little touch of which there are so many! My favourite such 'touch' is still the parking ticket holder  Unlucky enough to have a puncture today, fortunately by seeing the screw-head in the centre of the tread long before it deflated - found the locking wheel nut eventually, and yet another cubbyhole alongside the spare wheel! PB
  12. Great colour! Wait until the sun comes out - very different then!!! Enjoy!! PB
  13. +1 One of the biggest attractions is the compact size of the current model, together with all the fun it incorporates, and a whole lot more! PB
  14. I wrote that fairly soon after I'd first had the car, Johann - perhaps I turned the Bluetooth on the 'phone on whilst I was on the move (!), and then tried to connect it from the steering wheel. Whatever I did, Maxidot certainly told me I couldn't connect whilst I was on the move! Like Jonceebee, my Samsung connects automatically as soon as I get in.... provided Bluetooth on the 'phone is on!
  15. It's the youngsters in their hot hatches that I enjoy surprising - especially if they manage to get beside me again and realise that I'm not quite in their age-range PB
  16. Will have to have a play with those hooks! Would love to find they can be more useful than I've found them. Thanks for the thought, Marie. I forget to mention another seriously likable facet of the Yeti, and that's it's relatively tiny turning circle. Not quite up to the London taxi's 25ft, but must be close!! Ideal for us townies! PB
  17. Cheers, Tom - my sense of direction failed me
  18. After about 2k miles in nearly four months (I know, wrong engine for that sort of mileage – but it is what I wanted; mainly local miles, but with a trip to Dorset) some witterings: Delighted with it!! Absolutely delighted. Love the car, love the handling, love it all! Mpg running at 33.17: probably would have done better if the car wasn’t so much fun to drive! Most pleased with: DSG is really great, very quick and smooth changes, and very responsive when the hand is used on the joy-stick. The driving stance, once the left foot goes down on the footrest…. it’s like planting a root into the road! Performance is swiftly brilliant when asked to be . Oh, and the little parking ticket holder on the inside of the ‘screen – lovely touch which must cost pennies to put in. I find the leather upholstery is very supportive and comfortable indeed, and the heated front passenger seat has been given maximum points by SWMBO (we might become a two-Yeti household yet!). Heated front screen has seen little use for de-frosting, but is doesn’t half clear the screen of any internal misting rapidly. Back seats down for the Christmas tree was so easy to do, and I was surprised what a huge difference it made to the cargo space – chunky rear seats! Less pleased with: my dealer’s inability to sort a ‘five x comfort blink’ for me (“it cannot be done”): Briskoda suggested it could, and kudos to m0bov for sorting it in minutes for me. The much loved hooks in the boot are pretty much useless with a spare on board – the raised floor prevents the bag handles from remaining on them. Things I’d do differently: I’d probably have the electric front seat and all that goes with it to sort me out quickly after she's driven it. Things to be wary of: parking sensors (as Johann has had cause to comment on elsewhere here). Parking sensors are wonderful, and something I got used to very quickly….. but reversing the wife’s Zafira (which doesn’t have them) whilst listening for the bleeps was a recipe for disaster, fortunately avoided ! PB PS: been watching the ‘VRS…. Fools’ topic on the Octavia section. Probably some truth in what was originally said. My Monster doesn’t ever incur such stuff, but, because it is so unexpected, but it certainly causes a little ‘frustration behind’ sometimes once off the grid at the lights quickly…. especially if I’ve got my ‘retired-person’s hat’ on !
  19. +1 Of the many features SWMBO loves about the car, it's the ever changing colour that fascinates her most - easy for her to lose in a car park though ! PB

    Xmas

Echo wiganyeti - great bunch of helpful and knowledgeable people here - thank you all. A very happy Christmas from me. May your New Year be sure-footed, both on the road and off. PB
  21. Thanks for the thoughts, people. I'll have to see if my RAC membership is inextricably linked to my wife's car, or if there might be a financial reduction whilst I have Skoda Assistance. My experiences with the RAC have been very good in the rare occasions I've needed them. They have always arrived well within the time initially stated, though how much of that is down to 'managing expectations' and gaining 'customer satisfaction' I don't know. The last occasion was with a shredded front tyre on my Passat after clouting a traffic island instinctively avoiding a youngster on a bicycle that suddenly came off the pavement onto the road in front of me. My only other previous 'puncture' experience was many years ago when a tyre blew out at speed in the fast lane on the M1 (not a nice experience, believe you me!!) Hence my insistence on a fitting a spare for the Monster. PB
  22. Nearly three months after I took delivery of my Yeti I have received my three-year Skoda Assistance card and related blurb today. As a long-time RAC member is it something I can afford to ditch my RAC membership for do you think? Hopefully I'll not need it, but whilst I apparently have free Skoda/RAC cover, I don't want to be paying more than I need. Any thoughts out of personal experience. Cheers, PB
  23. This shows on my 63 Monster. I believe the Maxidot is informing me that speed and/or revs are such that I am now 'able' to change up if I wish, rather than recommending I do so? PB
  24. Well.............. used the Black & Decker twice now: today was the first for three weeks, so a good test! Perfect for the job, but wouldn't want to clean the house with it! The main nozzle has a handy little retractable brush on it that makes cleaning hard surfaces a piece of cake, and the textile flooring with the brush retracted was no problem. The Pet brush also worked well (though I don't have a pet, other than SWMBO!), with the flexible stubbly end ideal for teasing out the few remaining ingrained and stubborn particles that the main nozzle left after a first going-over. The crevice nozzle fits perfectly down either side of the front seats , and I found it useful around the edges of the floor mats as well (too lazy to remove them just yet !). First charge took just over three hours, and I'll probably run it flat before charging it again, and thereafter leave it on its charging plate permanently (has an automatic cut out when fully charged). Being much lighter than a traditional vacuum cleaner, and cordless, it makes the job that much quicker too. Compact but seemingly well constructed, it lives on a charging plate about 22cm x 16cm. All in all, I'm delighted with it. Recommended.
  25. Muscovado (?) Yeti coming up the A3 approaching Tolworth this afternoon. Parted as I came off up the slip road. Very small convoy for half a mile or so! No visible Brisky sticker though, but I did wave as we parted! PB
