  2. I have come to the conclusion my car is either a) Possessed or Broken I get 250 miles from empty to brim :( mainly town driving but still seems uber low!
  3. That is cheap! Best price I can get to in reading is £400 for cam belt, water pump, thermostat and coolant, I think this is a very good price and am more than happy but £333....wow lol
  4. Am in exactly the same boat! 56 plate petrol vrs and I need ca belt, water pump, thermostat and was thinking of getting the cam follower changed whilst at it....not looking forward to the bill
  5. Can I just ask....what is wrong with 502.00 5w40 oil?
  6. I used a guy called AMTuning in the end, he is a mobile operation but does have a base in Devon and Hereford I think, he is on Facebook and I paid 175, results were good, car feels better mid range. Would I use him again? Probably would yes.
  7. I have moved to 5w40 502 spec and the car seems to use less oil than it did before and seems to sound quieter on tick over (coukd just be me hearing things though!)
  8. I am almost sure its the stat but what else coukd cause this? Cts? Or something more sinister?
  9. Thanks for the replies, i still getring warm air through the blowers....will replace both bits and see if that solves it
  10. Hmm...mine takes perhaps a little longer to warm up but once at 90 degrees if i drive at speed the temp drops to say 75-80 degrees then pops back to 90....my economy is poor at the moment (28mpg after a four hour drive to cornwall, mostly on the motorway!)
  11. What were your symptoms? My temp gauge dropped whilst on the motorway today!
  12. Hi all, driving down to cornwall today on the motorway i notice the temp gauge dropping about a fifth below 90 then back up to 90? What would cause this??
  13. Rtech all the way....Jedi's of the vag range
  14. If you have not changed the coil packs then thats probably your issue, had the same thing on my 56 tfsi a scan does not always bring up the fault (until coil is fully gone)
  15. I just brought NGK platinum, they seem fine...about £30 from GSF with the 25% service discount
  16. Skoda national pricing is £349 for cambelt plus £259 for major service but to be honest the service is a driveway job, oil, filters and spark plugs
  17. Hi all, got the car up on the ramps at a mates garage and the offside drive shaft has a lot of play as in i can really wiggle it....how much shoukd they have as this seems excessive over an inch of play Thanks. Russ

  19. Hi all....i know there are a billion threads on this subject but i just have one question which icwoukd like an experienced answer on, my 56 plate vrs tfsi is recommended to use 5w30 oil but i was on the rtech website today and they recommend 5w40 for the tfsi especially if mapped so thats what i have brought and am doing an oil change tomoz, is this ok? Will using 5w40 break my engine?
  20. Thanks bud, have had to remove it a few times so got the hang of it now but was a bitch to start with!
  21. thanks mate-I should have mentioned the age! its an 06 I have read somehwere there is an R revision now?
  22. hi all Have had a quick search but cant find a specific answer so...... Had my car mapped recently and was expecting an increase in MPG (I don't rag the car everywhere) but have noticed a significant DROP in mpg in the same conditions as I was driving before (I know there are many factors including tyres, weather etc etc) but I have a feeling it is the PCV as have had the occasional erratic idle. Does anyone know the correct and newest revision part from Skoda (including any gaskets if required) so that I can replace as I understand its only a £40 part. Cheers in advance
  23. I know! On the drive afterwards i was bricking it lol
  24. Oh dear....thats exactly wjat i have had today, left work had to drive 3 miles at 20mph on 3 cylinder's! Thought it was going to pop! Have just fitted four new coils from awesome red ones if that makes any difference and boom problem gone happy days and thanks for the help everyone
