  1. Good to see you're enjoying your new car Jake! We shall have to arrange our 'team skoda photo' once my vRS hatch turns up on Saturday
  2. I just heard back from my dealer today, at the moment my vRS TDI that I ordered on the 24th of September is scheduled to be built in week 02, but he did say that it all might change before then. I'm in no hurry - don't want them to rush it and make mistakes
  3. Sounds like a great car The green will be stunning to say the least! I'm really looking forward to hearing the build week for mine, I ordered on 24/08.
  4. I'm pretty sure the camera behind the mirror is for Lane Assist. If you have the adaptive headlights stuff I think the sensor for that is located in that area as well?
  5. Hello everyone once again! I've just ordered my vRS - the guy at Blade Skoda in Gloucester said I'm the first to order a Hatch one at that dealership! Super excited, he said it should come in January. I've gone for the Diesel Manual Hatch (as indicated in earlier posts) in Race Blue, Red Stitched Interior. I also selected Front Assist, Cruise Control, Amundsen Nav, Colour Maxi Dot. Crazy to think the thing doesn't even exist yet. I'm new to brand new cars :p
  6. I just had a chat on the phone to CarFile, and will be eagerly anticipating what sort of deal they can do in my situation. He told me it could be around a 5% discount, which sounds good. It all depends on what sort of valuation they give on my current Honda though, as that discount could end up being cancelled out if its not so good.
  7. I've made my decision - will be going for the diesel! I've tried various different octavias this weekend (diesel & petrol) and I think that although the petrol would be quicker I would be more than happy with the performance of the diesel. I'm looking to order this week Thanks again for everyone's help on this, its been hugely valuable.
  8. Thank you everyone! The petrol vs diesel debate is obviously never going to end any time soon, but one thing that has been made overwhelmingly clear is that it is a pretty evenly weighted argument The man I'm talking to at Skoda has told me that there are no diesel manual vRS(ses?) available as demo cars at the moment, but he can arrange a try out in the previous generation version. Obviously I'm going to test the petrol manual too, and I'll think my way from there. Not normally a forum user anywhere, but this has been a great experience and has really helped further my knowledge - thanks again!
  9. There are definitely pros and cons to each - lots of thinking and testing required! Thanks to everyone for their advice
  10. Thank you for your replies everyone so far I certainly know what you mean skodanorman, the fun factor is a pretty important thing for me. I suppose I'm trying to decide if the diesel will be 'fun enough' or if I should just go for the petrol. Pricing two up on the configurator only works out to about £90 cheaper for the petrol so even the cost of that doesn't help swing it in either direction. I've only driven petrols, except for the work vans I drive. Maybe I'm starting to answer my own question here?
  11. Hello there, I'm new to this forum. I have looked at it a few times in the past and as I'm close to ordering my first Skoda I figured this must be one of the best places to go for information! I tested the new vRS (petrol, DSG) this weekend and loved it. I know the spec I'd be happy with, there's just one thing thats bothering me - the fuel. I currently drive a Civic Type-R (FN2) - so obviously I'm looking for my replacement to be around the same sort of performance. I'm wanting to save money on fuel and tax though - as I'm only averaging around 32-35 mpg at best. My tax is going to be £280 next time too :( Anyway, back to my predicament. Its safe to say the Petrol vRS would be a fair bit better on fuel than my current car, but I'm concerned that I'd still be using more than I should, if that makes sense :p I'm attracted to the Diesel vRS (I need to try one first though :p ) because of its wonderfully low tax band as well as the advertised fuel economy - but part of me worries that I'm not really doing enough miles to warrant buying a diesel (5-7000 miles a year). Sorry my first post on this forum is so long and convoluted, but I'd be most grateful for any advice you people might have on my predicament
