  1. So after a week or two of driving it I can confirm it feels very different. The suspension feels a lot firmer in certain conditions - but I’ve still not seen anything to suggest it’s been changed between models? So is this just some kind of fault on the old car? I’m not complaining - just confused! also noticed there’s no audible warning if the passenger takes their seat belt off while moving? It lights up on the dash but I’m sure the octy used to give an audible warning as well....
  2. Does anyone know if Skoda have changed the suspension setup in the new Sportline / SL Plus? I've driven the previous model year, and this one feels very very different. It's actually stiff? Also noticed the 7 Speed DSG is way quicker to pickup and the car generally feels more rapid - I didn't expect such a big change between the 6 and 7 speed, so not sure if they've altered any of the software settings underneath as well..
  3. Nice to see the random build generator is still producing results! Check out the thread I have running on the sport line I ordered some time ago.
  4. Hi All, It's been a while since I've updated, in honesty because save one run of fairly intense conversations I've been waiting for a new build.... Where I am today is that SUK and the dealer have ordered me a sport line plus (to match the old Sportline spec), which has now been built and is on it's way to the UK. They are then going to do a "swap". I'll update post swap, to be fair I'm pleased that both the dealer and SUK have stepped up to sort this, and it has put the brand in slightly better light. Obviously I'll have to wait and see if the new one actually has paddles + everything else on it before I give a final verdict
  5. Does this mean that all Superbs are capable of doing TSR and Lane Assist (if not picked as factory options)?
  6. Ugh, I've just looked at the spec PDF - off to the dealer to check what on earth is going to turn up this time....
  7. What's a sportline plus?! Never heard of that spec in the UK!
  8. In my experience the answer is "No" - but check this for yourself. I tried pressing the button on the console while moving at slow speeds the other day (5ish MPH) and it just beeped at me, but didn't open. I actually got around my particular fear of it being opened while moving / in traffic a different way - the dog is now secured in the back to a clip on one of the luggage holders, which means even if it did open by accident he can't just jump out.
  9. Thanks I spoke to SUK AGAIN yesterday who AGAIN confirmed their "parts" department have stated this is not possible Anyway, they're currently looking for an exchange, being careful that they don't exchange it for another one with missing paddles (there are a few going round it seems) IIRC I did find somewhere that had the flat bottomed wheels with the Superb button arrangement, it does look easy enough but I'm concerned about warranty etc
  10. Indeed. The dsg boxes really need them In my personal opinion, it’s not really something I can live without long term :/
  11. By way of an update on mine as well. SUK are still saying retrofit not possible, dealer is taking their advice, which is fair enough I guess - the dealer can’t really take the risk that they are wrong as in theory they are providing expert advice. There are no stock cars for an immediate exchange, so they are currently pricing up the value of mine in 4 months (I presume factory lead time) - interestingly the dealer did say that it’s then up to SUK if they sign off on it! As others have mentioned the dealer will have to find money as well as SUK. I had hoped someone would look into it more and agree that a retrofit was possible, but it looks as if we really are going down the exchange route - it feels daft but I’ve done all I can to try and help - at the end of the day I just want the car I paid for, I’ll keep this thread up to date with any developments.
  12. Check everything BEFORE you sign the final paperwork. Check items that should be standard spec as well, don’t assume anything (I’ve learnt the hard way) apart from that enjoy! If they’ve managed to put all the right stuff onitll be a cracking car!
  13. Totally, I get that there are many "corporate" reasons why they can't make it happen. I've asked the dealer to look into their workshop fitting it if I sourced the parts, with SUK providing the compensation - seems like an ideal solution to me and will likely save everyone headaches, but again have to wait and see.
  14. Thanks everyone. To be fair we've taken a step forward this afternoon, SUK have confirmed that from their perspective, whatever the reasons (probably not technical ones), the wheel can't be fitted afterwards, but they do admit it's a fault and they want to put it right. They are going to look into an exchange of the car. It's a shame they can't replace the wheel to be honest, I'm kind of sad about that, but when driving other DSG's I've always liked being able to use the paddles to drop down pre corner, overtake etc. I realise I could take some cash and do it myself, but I just don't really need the hassle and potential mucking about to do it. In summary it seems that the fact SUK don't tell the dealer the build date of the car is at the root cause of some of the other differences (6 speed, LTE SIM) - I've suggested to SUK that they should review this to make it easier for dealers to be clear about the spec. I actually believe that the dealer was genuinely not aware of these, and as per my other message I am not going to say who the dealer is until I'm happy that what I state is factual and the process is completed. I would much rather let people know that they are great at resolving tricky problems like this than just have a moan about them (I have every confidence they will be!).
  15. Just spoken to the dealer. They are saying that SUK have admitted it's a manufacturing fault, they believe 14 cars were built like this. SUK have said it is not possible to fit a new wheel with paddles, I'm waiting for them to get in contact with me directly now.
  16. Android is one thing, if you're an Apple user you are stuffed unless you want to manually toggle the hotspot every time you get in the car. Let's steer clear of the Android vs Apple thing - I've swapped between both over the years, I'm not swapping all my devices over because Skoda can't be clear about what spec you are getting
  17. I agree that it's frustrating we can't just have things like this. A storage unit that looks just like an ashtray LOL The main question I have is does the cabling for the USB exist, at least if there's 12 or 5v there I've got something to work with, otherwise it means running cables and I don't really want to do that on a brand new car.
  18. Because I have an iPhone. You have to manually toggle the hotspot on and off, I really can't be bothered and probably wouldn't remember. Using the boot socket is a nice idea but I have a dog who likes to chew little things like that lol
  19. Thanks Speedman, useful info. My dealer have simply said "It's skoda UK's problem" - which I know isn't true, I'm still waiting for a call back now from SUK. SUK did manage to sort the (only just) out of warranty water pump replacement FOC for my vRS, the dealer tried to charge me £1,000 and lied about raising a call with SUK. Turns out it was a known issue which should have been sorted during a service anyway. I've been offered nothing so far in terms of compensation.
  20. Oh I agree, I don't want to give it back, but I will if they turn it into a difficult situation. What this comes down to is if the dealer can be bothered to put some effort in to resolve it, which is why I'm holding off on all reviews and SUK Customer feedback etc regarding the dealer, their resolution will define what's said in the feedback and it's important people are honest and accurate about how dealers handle situations like this.
  21. Back to missing paddles.... Phoned SUK this morning, still no update, the case manager has 48 hours from Friday to review and get back to me. I've decided to hold off insuring it (needed a new policy anyway) because if they can't sort something I'll give it back. Ideally I just want them to fit the paddles, depending on cost I'd consider taking some money and getting it done myself.
  22. 3 keys here, no idea why, salesman didn’t seem to understand either.
  23. But according to the spec all of them should have had them, even the previous model year, unless you’ve picked a heated non paddle wheel. Mine isnt heated.
  24. Yeah! It's basically the one from a manual by the looks of it....
  25. I think the sales guys were more than aware, once I've done some more "digging" I'll be happy to name and shame so others are aware. This all started with them "misreading" the codes on the car, which meant they told me originally it had a heated screen - a follow up phone call told me that it didn't actually have it. I decided to carry on as the heated screen was a nice to have but in hind sight I should have realised back then.... What this now looks like to me is they had a car in port which was half old half new spec, told me it was spec as per the current brochure to sell it to me, letting me take delivery before I find out it's not quite the car I thought it was. At best this is just a ckup, at worst they knowingly did it.... Whatever the outcome my reviews and customer feedback are going to be honest, I'll also refer this to the Motor Ombudsman, just to make sure they're not mugging people who haven't done as much digging as I have.
