  1. I posted something like this some time ago, but never go any replies ......... It happens in mine when it's raining heavily! Mentioned to the dealers at service who heard it, investigated it at service but could not find a cause
  2. It's definitely mechanical ....
  3. It's when the cars static but with engine running and it's to regular a beat
  4. Hi Got a knocking / tapping sound ..... Think of a drumstick on a plastic bottle ..... From somewhere in the rear, sitting in the drivers seat. First couple of times it happened was after torrential rain. Reported to dealers at first service but they couldn't find or recreate it. Happened again today, no real heavy rain - also only happens when the engine is running. 2013 2.0 140 4x4 yeti Any ideas?
  5. That's a lot I would have said - my 140 2.0 diesel used no oil in its first 10,000 miles, that included towing a caravan a fair bit! Urgent call to dealers and SUK first thing tomorrow morning if it was me
  6. Point 3 - turbo lag? Coasting downhill the turbo is idling so back pressure is lost and takes that second or so to rebuild .....
  7. So far in the three years of towing different caravans with an Astra, then an Octi and now the Yeti ( best tow vehicle so far) we've not needed the power source for the fridge. Left the site this morning with a tub of ice cream in the freezer compartment and a cool pack - put in there for storage - 4 hours later after floating back down the M1 and M62 (Tad wet) everything was still frozen solid. But we do stay on sites with hook-up.
  8. Having read so many comments / threads about tow bars being fitted post delivery and the ensuing problems, I can only say that I'm so glad I had it factory fitted on my Yeti. If or when I come to replace my Yeti with another new vehicle, should I be so fortunate, it too will have a factory fitted towbar. It's worth the extra cost just for the peace of mind. And ..... By the time you've run back n forth, phoned dealers, SUK, etc, it is probably cheaper. And......my grammar is correct for me just like my spelling. I writes n talks how I want to n do it to give somebody something to bitch about!
  9. Can't advise about towball fitters as, after reading all the headaches and grief people had with towball fitters, we had one factory fitted. The bike carrier we use is this http://www.thule.com/en/gb/products/carriers-and-racks/bike-carriers/towbar-mounted-bike-carriers/thule-euroway-g2-921-_-921000 Found it packs down flat for storage / securing in car when out on bikes, really easy and fast to fit to towball and loading bikes can be done by one person. Not cheap but well worth it.
  10. Swift challenger sport 584 with max weight of just under 1500kg behind Yeti 2.0 140 bhp 4x4, averaging 30mpg. When I was towing with the Octi I found the mpg actually improved over time, but took nearly 30k miles to achieve this
  11. It was one of the things I insisted on when we got our Yeti - towing a caravan to me it's a must! Not that I'd fancy changing an offside wheel on the hard shoulder but sure it must be faster, with appropriate support, than waiting for a tow truck. What happens if your going on holiday to an isolated spot and you have a blow out en-ròute? Tow truck takes you to site and drops you off, how do you get tyre fixed?
  12. Oh no it isn't .....
  13. First few hundred miles on mine, reverse and 6th could be difficult to get. Had to double clutch quite a bit. 9k and 6.5 months on it's settled down, smoothed in and now smooth slick and easy ..... or I've got used to it but either way it's great now
  14. All of the above Detachable tow ball + factory fit electrics So useful, not just for caravan / trailer ( tips runs where you just don't that stuff in your nice yeti ) bug also bike carrier, etc!
  15. Never had a problem with Milenco Aero mirrors across the top - just undo all of the bolts, catch the mirror and steams it slides out of the clamps ........(4 pairs of hands are useful at this point).......wiggle the clamp between the mirror and frame, then tighten all the bolts up! Factory fit towbar and electrics ..... Find taking the cold food plus frozen cool packs ( if the weather gets warm enough ) and stowing in fridge just before setting off is enough, don't need fridge running. I have to say the caravan (24' MTPLM 1461kg swift challenger) behind the yeti looks good, tows great and even in a gale force cross wind that was pushing lorries around was manageable. For me a spare wheel for the Yeti and for the caravan is essential - but when did you last check the pressure in your spare, and the condition of it? My advice would be take it slow to start with, get used to it, go wide on corners until your confident of your turning circle and enjoy it
  16. How about one of these? http://www.tantronics.co.uk/acatalog/Ring_RSP600_Solar_Battery_Maintainer.html Especially if you have a panoramic sunroof and plug it in to the 12v socket in the boot
  17. Somebody reported this on Yeti Classic and it turned out to be tailgate not shut properly - appeared shut but display in MFD showed it was open. I've been caught out a few times and found that leaving drivers door open and giving the tailgate a good slam shut (it's all about air pressure leaving the door open) works.
  18. 63 plate 2.0 140 4x4 SE with about 7k miles Straight run across east lancs road M60 M62 A64 to Scarborough = around 45 to 47 mpg actual Daily run to work - across town, east lancs, M62 and dual carriages / A roads + local driving = 37 to 39 mpg actual Towing a caravan to near scarborough = 30 mpg actual! Bit heavy on the right foot and don't hang about at lights ....... I wonder if the 170 has better mpg as it's not having to work so hard
  19. SWMBO had a fiat punto that regularly went thru springs, had to change both rear springs in an Astra I had. Talking to local garages and auto factors, it seems to be a common problem across all makes.
  20. Black is fastest ...... And über kewl
  21. Why get them to do it - not done one on a yeti but with the state of the roads done a few on faux halls and fiats - jack corner up, remove wheel, pull hub towards floor, remove broken spring, put new spring in, refit wheel! Simples! Getting the right spring from the motor factors however .........
  22. Saw this, but never tried so can't vouch for it
  23. Hopefully this explains it.......http://caravanchronicles.com/guides/understanding-the-dynamics-of-towing/
  24. I got mine from http://www.carseatcoversonline.co.uk Both front and back. Custom made waterproof set, all in hard wearing cordura, individual covers for 3 back seats and so far, so good :-)
  25. And with 0%, there is a 21 day 'window of adjustment' so you change your direct debit day by up to 21 days - just wait till u get the paperwork thru then phone Skoda finance. Get sick of being on hold, hang up and phone Skoda customer services (having used saynoto0870), explain your trying to get to Skoda finance and they very kindly get Skoda finance to phone you back :-))
