  1. Yeah, I'm loving it at the moment, the suspension is hard but somehow quite fair (especially considering the atrocious state the roads are in and around Liverpool), in the right gear its near instant acceleration, so its obvious that i was in the wrong gear to accelerate. Now I'm just in constant fear of some TW*T keying it...(I work in quite a dodgy area)
  2. I reckon SILVER ONE and mike999 are probably right about the correct rev range, possibly because I'm pootling I'm often barely above 1000 revs and (the car even tells me to go down a gear!) and so when I do decide to floor it, its not even close to the optimum rev range for acceleration and so thats causing the delay. I've just grown up watching my dad try to be as economical with a car as possible, its a hard habit to break...
  3. I got to say, usually I'm just pootling around, tiny imputs with the accelerator and trying to brake as little as possible so I don't waste fuel, but every once in a while you just want to overtake someone or you get a straight bit of road thats crying out to be belted along (its a vRS, why not?) and the lag just takes the shine off that blast. Its not so bad in sport mode but the vRS engine noise piped in, whilst nice for a few minutes, can get a bit grating, so I usually have it in normal mode, maybe i need to try the individual setting and have most stuff in sport but just turn the engine noise down a bit...Its only been two days, theres still loads of tech on this car I haven't tried yet...Still love it though
  4. Yeah the ride height is quite high but that seems to be the way modern cars are going these days. Personally I quite like it and it doesn't seem to affect cornering! However, one thing I have noticed is a perceived lag between putting your foot down and then the car responding, which is annoying. I know there's another thread on here about a DTUK pedal box which doesn't increase bhp but improves throttle response so in a few weeks (once the car has bedded in/loosened up) I might be giving them a call... p.s. I've been trying to upload more photos (in natural light as requested by JS6, but it keeps saying i've reached my maximum attachment data allowed :S )
  5. Rainworth didn't prep the car, it was PW Pro, a professional detailer/vinyl wrapper/tinting company just down the road from Rainworth. For roughly the same amount of money as the autoglym life shine stuff from the dealer, PW Pro took 6-7 hours to detail the car using three different waxes (including the finishing wax which was swissvax crystal rock!) and they did a bloody good job...I've tried to upload more photos in daylight which I've taken today after a quick clean but the attachment part of this forum is having none of it at the mo, I'll try again later...
  6. I don't have a vRS button just the plain mode button and also no kick plates for the rears but I'm gonna get some off ebay soon... The colour is fantastic, I was close to ordering in black but I think blue was the better choice. The car does stand tall, after driving around in an old Golf GTi you really feel like your sitting on the car rather than in it if you know what I mean, the golf was much lower...
  7. I haven't taken any new photos yet as its hammering down with rain, but hopefully tomorrow I'll give it a quick clean and take some more in daylight. One terrible thing happened though, on parking up earlier today I VERY gently (going about 1mph) parked up on the kerb outside the house, heard a horrible crunching noise and I've only gone and kerbed the drivers side front alloy . So anyone know of a decent alloy repair place around Liverpool? (Can't tell you how gutted I am after only ONE DAY!)
  8. Thanks, I still can't believe that the car in the photos is the same one outside my window...
  9. Well here it is, admittedly there are better photos out there, but I picked up my brand new octavia vRS TSi manual in Blue from Rainworth Skoda at 12pm today and on the way back to liverpool the drive was awesome. Slightly complicated as I was trying to play with everything whilst doing about 70-80 down the M6, but its really very intuitive and after an hour I'd got the hang of Dab radio and had connected my phone (via bluetooth) and had got my ipod up and running with mitsumi... Admittedly the handover was pretty short but that was expected as loads of people were getting their new cars today, The car was actually at the detailers (in case it rained and ruined all the hard work they had done before I saw it) and I got to say they were worth it (PW Pro). It rained on the way home and the water just sheeted off like teflon! Anyway, enough of me prattling on, have a look at the photos!
  10. It'll be exactly six months for me. Ordered 1st september, picking it/her (are all cars female?) up on 1st march...
  11. Well its been 6 months exactly for me (ordered on 1st sep), got my reg no. which again was pants but hey-ho at least there was a choice. Its getting professionally detailed rather than leaving it to a 17 year old YTS monkey and I'm picking it up on saturday at precisely 12pm....Only six sleeps to go!
  12. Mine arrived at the dealers on monday, is booked into PW Pro for detailing next wednesday and is getting picked up on the saturday (1st). Only 10 sleeps to go...
  13. Yay, just had a phone call from my dealer to chose my reg plate! They weren't brilliant choices, the first two letters were fixed but I went for XJZ as the last three letters. The car (a skoda octavia vRS hatch manual petrol in blue, with canton, kessy, boot net and leather heated seats) will be at the dealers late next week, PW Pro are hopefully going to detail it for me (they're right next to the dealers in mansfield) and then I'll be picking up my shiny new car on 1st of March...can't blummin' wait!
  14. Mine is a vRS hatch manual petrol in race blue built week 4 and has already arrived in the UK, so It would probably be ready to pick up in a week or so but I'm gonna wait till the 1st and get that new 14 plate...can't wait!
  15. well I've spoken to the dealer and he said I could probably pick the car up in two weeks but he has no problem with me waiting till march, so as I've already waited nearly 5 months I may as well wait one more...Now I'm gonna have to speak to Pw Pro about getting it detailed (they use swissvax crystal rock to wax the car so they must be good!)...
  16. I ordered my blue Tsi vrs hatch manual petrol on 1st sept, got a build week 4. The car was built on sunday 19th (which is technically week 3) and has arrived in the uk today . So, any ideas how long it takes to get to the dealer? Is it a case of waiting for a transporter to be booked to take it there (rainworth skoda in nottighamshire)? And would people think it silly me picking up the car as soon as possible rather than waiting for the 14 plate in march?
  17. Ok well my car has arrived at the port and is now awaiting a ship. Should take 14days to get to the dealer so it's gonna be in their car park for a while if I don't pick it up till march!
  18. I'm actually from liverpool but moved to wales for a couple of years for work (I'm a pharmacist), but my ma and pa live in wales about a mile away from the oakley arms near maentwrog, (its the house below the road on the left on the way to porthmadog next to the river). So if you happen to be driving past anytime after march 1st you might see a shiny blue vrs parked in the drive...
  19. Aye, I've been dealing with Steve Cantrell and he's decent although appears to be a very busy man! Anyway, can't wait, can't wait, can't wait its gonna be awesome
  20. P.s. I'm no longer in wales having moved to liverpool buy my folks still have a house near porthmadog...
  21. I got the car from rainworth skoda in nottingham cos it was so damn cheap! got just over 14% off, paying cash. I have read on this forum about the 'paint protection' provided by the dealers and how inconsistent it can be so decided to go with a professional and as pw pro are literally down the road from the dealer and they seem to have a very good reputation for doing a good job, I thought I'd rather pay them £250 to do it properly. I know very little about the quality of cleaning products used but I am aware that paint prep is important and have heard that swissvax are pretty good. This will be my first new car I've ever had, so thought it worth getting it detailed as best as possible to protect the paint, plus rainworth skoda don't have any problem with pw pro either borrowing the car for a day to clean it, or for them to go to the showroom to clean it there...
  22. Well my car was confirmed bw4 and now it's confirmed on the way to Germany to the port (I assume that's emden) so gonna be at the dealers for mid-late feb, for me to pick up on 1st march! Going to get it detailed by pw pro next to the dealers in Nottingham, anyone know if they're any good? It's a vrs hatch tsi manual in blue with a few extras. Hope it warms up by march...????
  23. My dealler actually suggested I wait till march 1st to pick up the car and he had no argument from me! Assuming the car is built around the 20th of jan and then takes 3-4 weeks to get to the dealer, it'll only be a couple of weeks sitting at the dealership. I'm gonna get it 'new car detailed by PW Pro so it'll be all nice and shiny when I get it...It's gonna be the best saturday ever! (hopefully)
  24. right well my build week 04 has just been confirmed so starting to get super dooper excited now! Should have it built sometime during 20-25th of Jan and then I'm still gonna have to wait till 1st march to pick it up, but I've waited since 1st of september so I can wait a few more weeks. It'll be 6 months from order to delivery ...
