  1. Hi gfwc Have sent you a message, did you recieve it?
  2. Hi All Not sure if I am allowed to post this here but I'll try anyway, I'm sure a Moderator will tick me off if it's not allowed. I have a 2003 Skoda Fabia Estate in reall nice condition but it is lacking the rear Load Cover, so I am looking for a real good condition replacement in Black. Can anyone help please? Ta, Dave.
  3. Hi OK here is a pic of my 2003 Candy White Fabia Estate. Immaculate condition with only 50,000 miles on the clock.
  4. Hi Just a quick question, I recenlty spoke to my local Skoda dealer which involved giving them my car details. My 2003 Fabia 1.4 16v Classic Estate is Candy White code 1026, when I mentioned this the chap at the dealership said it was an unusual colour for this year/model of Fabia. Does anyone know any different? Ta.
  5. I was speaking to a technician at my local Skoda dealership this morning about what fuel I should be using etc. and he said Unleaded 95 RON should be used in my engine (1.4 BBY 55Kw/75BHP). Super Unleaded should only be used, and needed, in the 74Kw/100BHP engines. I'm still waiting to see if the EML comes on again now the fault has been cleared.
  6. Just an addition to my post: Speaking to a technician at my local Skoda dealer today, he told me that 1 Ltr/1000Km is about normal for this car/engine (1.4 BBY 55Kw/75BHP). This also what the owners manual says, I quote "It is normal that the engine consumes a certain quantity of oil. The oil consumption may be as much as 1 Ltr/1000 Km." So according to the Skoda technician and the owners manual, 2 Litres in 3,000 miles (4828 Km) is below average - according to Skoda! I also asked the technician about what fuel I should be using, he said Unleaded 95 RON with this engine (1.4 BBY 55Kw/75BHP). Super Unleaded should only be used in the 74Kw/100BHP engines. Since the initial incident, I am now monitering the oil level against my mileage, it will be interesting to see the outcome. I am averaging about 1000 miles a month.
  7. Hi I have a 2003 Fabia 1.4 Estate Automatic and have been running it on normal unleaded since I bought it about 4 months ago. When reading the owners manual I noticed that it recommends that Super Unleaded is used in a 1.4 engine, so about 10 days ago I filled up with Super Unleaded, I am now on my second tank full. Two days ago my EML (Engine Management Warning Lamp - the one that looks like a little engine) came on and stayed on. I took the car into my local garage today to have it checked out, sods law dictated that when I started the engine to go to the garage today the EML went out, as it should. Anyway the garage connected their diagnostic computer to my car and it showed an EGR Valve fault in the memory, I understand this is a valve and sensor that is connected to the exhaust system to check the Co2 levels. The garage reset the fault and the light now goes out when the engine is started. My question is: Could the fact that I had recently switched to running on Super Unleaded had any effect on this sensor and valve, causing the 'Fault' to occur? Higher levels of Co2 maybe? Your comments please. I am going back to switch back to normal unleaded the next time I fill up and see how it goes.
  8. Another thing that doesn't help is that I think someone (the dealer?) has used some silicone, or other greasy stuff, to clean the inside of the windows, they are as greasy as hell. When the windows are steamed up I use a chamois leather pad to wipe them clear but it just smears the greasy stuff... Tried water/washing up liquid - didn't remove it, tried kitchen surface cleaner - didn't touch it. Any ideas?
  9. "If you use the correct stuff to stop the leak, you don't need to wait for it to dry." Don't have a garage so don't want to get wet while I'm doing the job... "By the way, where would I find the Pollen Filter?" Found it! Ta.
  10. I think I've just found my problem, the inside bottoms of the rear door panels are soaking wet for about an inch and a half up from the bottom, leaky seals inside the doors I'd say. Have to wait for a dry day to get the door panels off and fix them... By the way, where would I find the Pollen Filter? The car doesn't have Air-Con.
  11. I have a 2003 Fabia Estate 1.4 16v Classic Automatic and the windows steam up quite badly, it takes forever for the windscreen to clear some mornings with the heater fan on full windscreen demist and the dashboard outlets closed. More annoyingly, the rear windows and rear quarter lights never really clear unless the windows are opened, not always an option in this wet weather. Is this a design fault with this year/model or is there something else at play? The ventilation throughout the car seems to be very poor indeed. Does anyone else experience this? Any suggestions as to how to improve the situation?
  12. A note in the owners manual: "Oil consumtion can be as much as 1 Litre/1000 Km." That seem quite a bit to me? The sticker on the inside of the Fuel Filler Cap indicates 95 RON. The Manual says 1.4 engines should use 98 RON. Bit of a contradiction there...?
  13. Thanks for that Spud31, very useful.
  14. "At this time of year I would suspect the breather box is full of yoghurt which increases oil consumption badly on these engines." "i did loads of these as a technician for heavy oil use. as said breather box used to block and they used to fill air filter with oil" Is the breather easily removed for inspection and cleaning? BTW, where is it? "I also notice your mileage is very low, so I suspect a lot of short trips and bad fuel, you need to run this engine on super plus unleaded and nothing else.." Down to the previous owner I'm afraid, it does get used 'Properly' now and I will certainly switch to Super Unleaded in future.
