  1. Yep, I know our climate is pretty damp compared to other drier cold climates but.... If it had been pee-ing down and the car was parked up and it got frozen (happened 4 years ago with our month long white spell) then fair enough. What I don't accept is that for some reason it's getting damp under the dust seals on the rear doors only (fronts can be bone dry unless it's been chucking it down) and then they are freezing shut. And it's not even like the external part of the dust deal it's the inner one that freezes to the inside of the door opening! Also, the previous one didn't do this!! Gearbox is the main grumble. went for first from neutral today and heard the reversing beep! Cheers Keith - I hate myself for saying this but I like the car! Although it's nice to see the Golf GTD has had it's standard spec up'd a bit and is now pretty close to the vRS except in price! I'll see what VW finance manage to do but I can't see it being much.... I did see a 12 plate Golf GTI that looked tempting. Kinda like the £30/year tax though!
  2. Am I being daft and thinking this is 2014 with a gentle frost.... on a 27k car.... Shouldn't the doors just work!? Last one was fine and the doors never froze (and the gearbox never felt different) and that was axle in deep in snow this time last year!
  3. Exactly what I thought - they also seem to forget that I have a vRS over last winter and was up north driving through snow with that one and never had an issue. What happened to the customer is always right!?
  4. I've had that too a few times. Forgot to mention it but no doubt it will be a feature!
  5. Well guess what folks - the gearbox is playing up again! Took it into the dealers today and the mechanic told me it's just cold gearbox oil because the temperature is dropping - do I look like I'm 5?!?! Not impressed - hopefully they will manage to fix the driver side sun visor back to the roof without blaming me for it coming loose... Oh has anyone else had their rear doors freeze shut? Mine have, twice. Moisture under the dust seals freezes meaning the doors freeze shut. Dealer said it's just the design and I need to warm the car up so they defrost - I mean wtf?!?! Seriously had enough of this heap. Got my settlement figure and raised a complaint with VW finance who were taken aback with the problems I've had and couldn't believe the doors were freezing shut. We'll see what happens but I'm not holding my breath!
  6. +1 for hatch bag. Don't worry about cutting it. I cut slits in my previous one to access the lashing point - never frayed or ripped.
  7. Naff all available for my car - not even just a software update. Boooooooooo
  8. You know I do like the car but the Golf GTD or even the new Focus ST(d) looks more and more tempting.
  9. Nope, never had that. Maybe an issue with the hill hold system?
  10. Call Skoda recovery. It's illegal to be driven (by you or the dealers driver) so tell them it needs picked up. Daft thought though... Have you checked nothing has fallen into the buckle? Might be worth getting a torch for a look see
  11. I'm assuming centre consol comes out but please tell me you didn't spend 33 quid on a button?!
  12. Well my car seems fine and gear change is much smoother than previously so new flywheel and clutch seems to have solved the problem. Fingers crossed!
  13. I'm afraid it'll need to wait until tomorrow as I'm just home after the mrs' cars clutch packed up on the way home. Possibly cable or release bearing issues but as the bonnet release cable seems to have snapped I can't get the bonnet up to find out! Had enough of cars for today, especially after a 13 hour shift...
  14. I think everyone that's had this issue should be visiting their dealers pronto. If they need details on my repair (once I know it's sorted - still not home as we got caught late) let me know.
  15. Yep 'twas me that rejected my first car. Yes I have a tdi and I thought it was just notchy due to cold gearbox but it obviously wasn't!
  16. Well my car will be sitting waiting for me when I get home so fingers crossed Reverse to first issue wasn't very often. It was more notchy getting first and sometimes reverse that was frequent.
  17. Fatso??? Apologies. How my iPad got fatso from typing car I have no idea!!
  18. Sorry- can't edit. Meant to say I'd take your car the a dealer asap Matt. If you need details of my fatso they can look up the repair/warranty history with SUK let me know. (As an aside I always find it funny the Skoda UK is shortened to SU©K!)
  19. Well hopefully the car will be being delivered back to my house while I'm at work tomorrow assuming it gets fixed. The dealer seemed pretty confident that they had discover d what was wrong. To be honest I have no idea what part a dual mass fly wheel plays in changes gears!
  20. Coops - that's what mine is/was like going for first. Didn't always engage reverse properly. Thought it was it but didn't go anywhere. Cables and associated bits are all ok seemingly.
