  1. I had the same DAB problem. After the Columbus was updated with later firmware, I think 0390, the problem has not reoccurred.
  2. I thought the L&K came with the Columbus as standard? so changes to the Amunsden don't affect this trim level.
  3. Other things they forgot to convert are the DSG lever, which moves away from the driver for manual mode on a RHD car, but at least we share the + and - being the wrong way round with LHD. Also, the knob used for operating the sunroof in the hatch is turned in the opposite direction to the roof but would be correct on LHD.
  4. Columbus has similar quirks. Everytime the route goes across the Severn Bridge (M4) it wants to take me off the motorway at J22 (M49), over the roundabout and then re-join the motorway
  5. Sounds like they're running the same stories as last year, so a dry winter with torential till June, I'm sure folk in Somerset hope not. I'll be sticking winter tyres/wheels on mine for a second year, difficult to gauge the performance in snow as I didn't encounter any. However, they were extremely effective driving through Kielder Forest in the slushy aftermarth of a snow shower in March. Just need to decide when to put them on, I want to run the summer Contis as close to the markers as possible and then get them replaced while the winters are on. If they don't go on this weekend then I won't get a chance to do it until early-December, unless I fancy changing them in the dark with a head torch for illumination
  6. I hate the way auto lights come on when going under a bridge or a couple of trees for no good reason. Generally switch between 0 and Auto to prevent this unless they need to be manually overridden. Always know when the lights are on, I have the Columbus set to auto-switch to night mode with the lights.
  7. Yes, it's on the mat. There are no markings on the lid of the compartment. Sounds like it has been fitted.
  8. The Columbus doesn't need to use a Skoda SD card to perform the update. I was able to do it with a 64 Gb SDXC card, althougth only the first 32Gb was formatted because my reader only supported SDHC (back in November). Unfortunately mine updated first time with no errors so I can't help with the problem. Are the November 2013 maps already installed and no update is required?
  9. Interesting thought, the navigation instructions on mine lock at the roundabout for British Car Auctions at Blackbushe on the A30. But I haven't had any problems driving round the M25 near Heathrow. Haven't tried since the updating the mapping data to November 2013 though to see whether it was a data issue.
  10. Forward vision is not affected, city mode doesn't affect how far in front of the car the headlights shine (at least not on mine ).
  11. The clutches disengage, and engine revs drop to idle, when the brake pedal is fully depressed so theoretically removing pressure from the brake pedal suddenly could allow the vehicle to roll back while the engine revs rise and clutches re-engage, although how far it would actually move I couldn't say as I only have experience of a DSG with hill hold. If the brake pedal is partially released the engine revs rise, the clutches re-engage and the car won't roll back when the brake pedal is fully released.
  12. The regulations of Formula 1 don't allow 4wd making this a poor example. While we can only speculate on the mid-corner speed of an Formula 1 car with 4wd the ability to accelerate out of the corner may be improved. The last time a 2wd car won a World Rally Round was 1999, mainly because they were lighter and it was dry, since then 4wd has been faster on all surfaces. But back on topic... does Haldex not provide any 'lock up' during braking to aid stability or is this also the preserve of more complicated 4WD setups?
  13. This is exactly how the headlights on my car work and is very useful for illuminating the otherside of the road. I think this is how the system is supposed to work.
  14. It's different with a Columbus. Navigation runs from internal storage allowing both SD card slots to be used for media files without affecting the navigation.
  15. As far as I am aware SDXC is the only format that supports > 32Gb, discovered my reader only supports SDHC when it could only see the first 32Gb of the card (which is the limit of SDHC).
  16. I had mixed service from Openeo and DPD as well, the latter still failing to refund £12 for a botched Saturday dellvery after 3 weeks. Ordered four Conti 850's and alloy wheels over a weekend. The tyre order went through fine but the wheel order returned an error from the website. Tried a further seven times with the same outcome. Openeo Email support was quick to sort out the problem Monday morning leaving me with 8 sets of the wheels to pay for Again this was sorted out quickly to leave me with the order I wanted to pay for which was completed on the Tuesday. The issues with the alloy wheel left me with no live tracking for that order but the tyre order had links to two orders so assumed one was the wheels. On Friday, of the same week, DPD attempted to deliver the wheels and tyres. Having watched the live tracking I scheduled a Saturday delivery almost immediatly after the calling card information came up on the live tracking. When I got home I found the wheels had been left in a safe, which I was happy with, but neither of the links above showed the consignment as being delivered. Stayed in Saturday morning awaiting the rescheduled delivery but slightly concerned the live tracking information was not being updated, one parcel was listed as being in Birmingham and the second in Newbury. Anyway nothing arrived so that was a wasted Saturday Fortunately on the Monday the big storm hit which meant I could not get to work and was at home to receive the second delivery attempt. Only two tyres arrived, when I enquired about the other two tyres the driver said that was all he had on the van. When Openeo had shipped the tyres they split them into two consignments, the delivery driver had failed to realise this and only associated one with the calling card. I realised this when I looked at the two consignment numbers, one was marked as delivered and the second was still in Birmingham. Without the calling card I was unable to reschedule the delivery and had to resort to the 'Make It Right' email address, which got it wrong and failed to reschedule the remaining tyres for Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon tried again and the consignment was rescheduled for Wednesday when it was finally delivered. When I checked the Dezent alloys wheels everything looked fine except one of the wheel centres was missing. Due to a silly bit of design the box has two hand holds which are large enough for a loose wheel centre to fall out. Just to finish it all off, took the wheels to the fitter and they found some damage to one of the rims where it had been dropped in the box. But with the state of the roads the wheels will be square in a couple of year anyway so left it. I was hoping to get some Skoda wheel centres off ebay, so the missing centre didn't bother me, but the 60mm items ordered don't fit the alloy properly. So I have emailled Dezent about where a replacement can be obtained from but after 2 days have not had a reply. So currently not sure whether the low prices are worth the pain and misery surrounding the rest of the experience, although dodging DPD may be harder.
  17. The rest of the menu is exactly the same as on yours, and I doubled checked once again that lane assist isn't fitted to car. I don't have access to VCDS but it seems like a useful tool to have. Thanks for the link to the maps, I also found it via a Skoda website link and will wait for the November update. The 15Gb download isn't the worry, it's how long it might take to perform the update  Nigel
  18. OK, here are the screenshots from my system. The speed limit signs appear in the top left corner of the Nav screen as per the manual. Looks like the software version on mine is slightly later and the navigation database is older. Nigel
  19. Yes I can do that but I won't get a chance until tomorrow evening.
  20. I have an ex-demo Elegance without lane assist and get speed limit signs displayed on the Columbus. The feature has been enabled since I got the car, which was registered in June. The 2013 maps are installed but I've not checked the firmware version. The map menu, in the setup, has the Show traffic signs option ticked but I've not had a chance to see what happens when the option is unticked.
