  1. My petrol has done over 4,000 miles and no problem with oil use as of yet.
  2. It's always good to have a talking point in an article! Personally, I like to be able to use all available power in a road car. Where I live when you start getting to 300bhp+ you don't get to use all of that, so I find the 220bhp you get in this perfect. In addition to that, I don't feel there is any need to have more in a front wheel drive car. Just my opinion though! I'm currently writing an opinion piece on diesel engines which I'm sure is bound to spark a debate I'm really looking forward to getting that published! Unfortunately the price does go up each generation, but I think the same can be said of most models of cars can't it? The technology gets better with each generation so I'm ok with that. As you say, I still think this car is a good price for what you get
  3. Thank you very much! Yes, right now I'm working on something significant but I can't reveal details yet. It's not Skoda based, so I don't know how I'd inform all of you guys if I does go through and happen. If it does, I'll be delighted as it will be a very big deal for me and could lead to further exciting opportunities. The party in question want to guage success.
  4. Hi guys, I'm sorry i've not been on (as in logged on and commeted) in so long. I trust everybody is still having a great time with their Octavia's! I've been working on my automotive writing and well, it's come good! I'm now writing for www.drivingspirit.com and my first full review has been done on my very own Octavia vRS. If you're going to start, start with something good right? Obviously, don't feel obliged to go and check it out or anything but I thought you might like to see what I had to say about the car and also see what my writing is like. Any support for my writing and my article is most welcome, if you wanted to 'like' it or share it in any way that would be fantastic, but I'm not actively coming here asking for that to happen. I just wondered what you guys thought predominently. http://drivingspirit.com/skoda-octavia-vrs-owners-review/ So here it is, just above this sentence. Check it out if you feel inclined. There's some pictures if you don't fancy the read much but knowning you guys you like the details. It's not in depth too much, it's a short review. But it's my first step into the world of reviewing hopefully. I'll leave you with another picture now. Cheers guys!
  5. My Meteor Grey TSI hatch has just arrived at my dealer, so in a few days I should be able to get some pictures up for you all to have a little look. Should be interesting to see what kind of comments I get haha!
  6. That's fantastic!! I bet the Mrs will give him stick for DECADES after that... wow!
  7. I bet this was greeted with many 'LOLs' at the dealership. Should have waited until you saw it in the flesh! But at least its a happy ending!
  8. I live in a rural area and I bought my 2013 Fabia vRS this year which of course has the DSG. It's not impressed me at all. The only thing it is good for is driving fast. When you're going for it you don't have to take your hands of the wheel. I don't enjoy driving it at normal speeds, the box isn't great when the car has just been started and has rolled back a few times on hills too. Anyway, not particularly impressed by it. It's just not for me I think. Since i've had the DSG i've realised just how much I miss the clutch and stick, and how crucial that is to the pleasure I get from driving. I'm looking forward to my manual Octavia vRS arriving end of next month.
  9. Sorted it, check my gallery on my profile?

  14. My vRS TSI Meteor hatch should be here end of November. Only pictures I have of it are a Czech press car with wrapped rear spoiler... But I don't know how to upload it onto the forum?
  15. As above. In this climate that amount of money can't be looked away from. Your local dealer has to up their game if they want your buisness. Simple.
  16. A vRS Mode badge is a nice little touch, but I'm not sure i'd want to go to all the trouble of changing it if a spare part was available to order. Most of us are going to put it in Sport Mode from the get-go I imagine?
  17. Do you think they'd look better in a constrasting colour instead of body colour? Do they interfere with the lights at all?
  18. Yeah, im in agreement too, that's a really classy finish. Suits the car very well too.
  19. This 'Challenge' model sounds very interesting... I e-mailed my dealer about the lap timer as I thought it was standard too, I did that about 3 months ago and he said he'd find out. He hasn't found out. I do wish Skoda could be more clear with what you get for your money.
  20. The 'advice' some posters have given to the OP was to not install them?
  21. Agreed. I can't say I like the wind deflectors much either though. I have a few little ideas for my hatch when it comes along but it will be subtle stuff, just to make it mine really. I can't say i'd want to add stuff like this to my car.
  22. Really loving the red... I'd quite like a red one myself now!
