  1. Hi. Ok, thanks for that. 👍
  2. Hi all, Happy new year! Does anyone know if there is a company out there that re maps the latest 2020+ Octavia 1.5 turbo petrol engines?? Many thanks in advance.
  3. I've literally only driven the car once since buying it. The problem arose straight away with an empty expansion bottle after just a 19 mile drive home. I took it straight to the garage where it has been since. Sorry if my lack of knowledge isn't enough for an informed opinion, I am now going to consider the matter closed as I am no closer to an answer. Many many thanks to all you guys on this excellent forum, cheers. 👍
  4. All I know is what I've already stated. What I do know is that it has nothing to do with the a/c. The car is the basic ambient equipped model.
  5. Thanks for that. I trust the guys I use,but I will try anything to get this resolved as quickly and cheaply as possible. Any and all information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Hi. The guys doing the work on it for me have done every conceivable test on it. The heater keeps going hot and cold. At first they thought that the head gasket had gone, but further investigation ruled that out. 2 weeks on and several new parts later they still have the same problem. The latest idea now is that something is clogging the block water ways, because at some point in this poor car's life some cretin has put something in the coolant to cover up god knows what problem. I may have to put a second hand engine in it!
  7. Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. I recently bought a 2007 octavia with a 1.9tdi diesel lump. Yes, it's got the dreaded BXE code motor. My problem is this.. Poor coolant circulation. It's at a trusted workshop, and so far they have replaced the radiator, heater matrix, water pump, flushed the system several times, bypassed the EGR cooler, all to no avail! Does anyone have any ideas as to wtf is going on with this otherwise sound engine. Many thanks in advance.
  8. Thank you to all the people who have helped me out on this forum. It's the best forum i have ever used. Cheers.
  9. Hi all, thank you to gizmo for pointing me to the LED reverse light bulbs that i recently purchased for my own car. The lights are a definite improvement, however, the rear light clusters themselves are, for me personally, frustrating me slightly. It concerns the piece of plastic inside the cluster that looks like a strip of a magnifying glass to me. You can see in gizmo's pics. The piece appears in both the indicators, and reverse lights. Has anyone modified this, or changed the cluster or anything!? I know its a trivial gripe, but i live in rural England, and, at the moment, its dark when i go out, and dark when i come home! As ever all advice, help, and ideas are very much appreciated. Many thanks.
  10. Thank you for that. its very reassuring to know!
  11. I've recently bought a black superb. Starting to wish it was white....
  12. I have a 2WD 2016 Superb 3v3 diesel, and have recently bought a set of Michelin Cross Climate, instead of a second set of wheels/tyres. I hope to god they will OK, especially if we have the snow etc of last winter season.
  13. Unstoppable as in they were very good.
  14. I have just taken the plunge and purchased a set of crossclimates+ for my 2wd Superb. After reading your experience of them on snow, i'm now a lot less nervous about the coming winter season. My last car was a 4wd Octavia with a set of Nokian WR D4s which were absolutely unstoppable in the snowy conditions of 2017/18. Hence my nerves! Thanks.
  15. That's great! Thanks for that. I was hoping that was the case. My trip computer is telling me i have 2500 miles to go so i don't have to worry just yet. Cheers!
  16. I'm very happy with my new car. I've just had it serviced at my nearest Skoda dealership, who were very helpful. I've only had it a fortnight, I filled it up on the way home, and so far it's done 400 miles and the fuel needle is pointing at the half full mark! Very impressed. The only question i have is what adblue, if any, should i use? Is there only one type? I ask because if i can get away with cheap stuff vs stealership prices, then i'll be happy with that.
  17. I am now the proud owner of a 2016 Superb tdi 190. It's a lovely machine, and I hope to keep it for many years of luxury motoring!
  18. I have to have a superb in my life, and I've found the perfect one on autotrader . Thing is, it says it's 190hp (2016my manual) Is this correct? I've got a feeling that it is incorrect. All help is, as usual, greatly appreciated.
  19. Hi all Briskodians! I thought it was time for an update on my skoda ownership. I have been spending money on my beloved octy like its going out of fashion! So far i have put on a set of H&R springs, a set of Bilstein B6 dampers, a 200bhp turbo upgrade from Darkside, and a nice new set of Bosch windscreen wipers! Its safe to say iv'e become very attached to my octy. I shall be keeping it for a good few years. It's been overall, an excellent car. Thanks to all the contributors on this great forum.
  20. Hi, to all Briskodians! I have found, bought and fitted a set of H&R lowering springs for my car. I am pleased with the resulting drop in height, and it hasn't ruined the ride quality. Many thanks.
  21. Hi all. I wish to lower my 2012 Octavia 4x4 tdi. I would welcome any members who know of companies who manufacture lowering springs for my model of car. Many thanks in advance.
  22. Yeah, you are correct of course, i think i have a version 4? I just think it is crazy that it is not down as a serviceable item. Its obviously causing people problems. At least now i am all clued up for future servicing!
  23. Hi trundle, apparently the little filters are very hard to get hold of, on there own. I don't get why they (v.a.g official dealerships) don't change them. I am just very pleased to have found a cost effective solution to my problem. Hopefully other people with a similar problems with there 4x4 systems fill find this information helpful, just like i have found other posts on this forum so helpful. Many many thanks to all the guys and girls on this forum.
  24. Hi, no, they didn't even open the brains up, which surprised me a bit at first, but there experience told them that there was no problems with the printed circuit board. They plugged in a laptop, and straight away he said 'its your pre charge pump!' He told me that when you have the rear axle serviced on these cars, for some reason, v.a.g. don't seem to change the little oil filter! As a consequence, the filter gets clogged up, and it burns the pre charge pump out. Can't thank the guys enough.
