Whilst in New England in Summer I was refreshed to see signs in some states stating that Lights must be on when it is raining, or wipers are in use. It is the Law, and it should be here too. It is one of my main driving hates when you can barely see 100 feet in front of you and some people have NO LIGHTS ON!!!!!

Hi, Just a quick hello. Have just bought an Octavia VRS 2010 model in Black Magic, and have already been assisted by some kind folks on here regarding an annoying noise in the car, which has now been pinpointed and partially solved. I'm around the Linlithgow/Stirling/Dunblane area mostly, and am most impressed with the car so far. Will post some pics when I get a chance. If you see me remember to wave if you're ugly ;-) Gamm

Just to say I have pinpointed my chirp/squeak which I will post here just in case there are fellow sufferers out there. It's coming from the jumbo box hinge. Tried some WD40 to no avail, but when jumbo box is moved fully forward it doesn't do it. As far as I'm concerned that's a result. Just shows you how hard these things are to pinpoint as I would have sworn it was coming from the pillar on passenger side. What I did was get two passengers in the car, get them to say what direction it was coming from, and then basically plotted an intersection. The things we do for quiet!! Sure enough when you shoogle the jumbo box from side to side, it makes the exact chirp/squeak I've been hearing. Thanks for all the replies and PMs offering assistance. I know this an old thread but I've just bought a VRS. There is a chirping noise coming from left side when going over bumps or very quick bursts of acceleration. Is this the noise you are referring to do you think? It's definitely trim, just don't know where. Thought there was a resident budgie. If I'm honest it sounded more like it was coming from around the seatbelt area but it's hard to tell.

Thanks for the reply. mytyres were emailed earlier and couldn't confirm fitment. Having ordered some wheel and tyres for my legacy only to find they didn't fit past the calipers, you'll understand I'm looking for definites. Thanks for your quick reply, I'll have another browse around

I'm acquiring a 2010 facelift model Octavia VRS. As I am coming from a 4 wheel drive (Subaru) background I am planning on fitting winter tyres to a smaller set of alloy wheels. I may go steel wheels if necessary. Has anyone fitted 16 inch wheels to this car and if so what did you fit please? I've spent days trawling the net, but there seems to be a bit of a mystery for the facelift cars? What fitment will fit past the calipers etc? Any help really appreciated. Gamm
