  1. Hi all, asking for my brother in law who has just bought a Citigo and has asked me to find a genuine Nav unit and mount. I’ve been on eBay and not sure which will or won’t work. Does anyone have the correct part numbers or unit names for this mount on a 16 plate? I know some seem to only work if there is a USB socket, which he hasn’t got. Also is there a way to change to boot screen so it is Skoda if a unit is from a Seat or VW Thanks in advance
  2. Hi t_reazy, I do. Sorry for the slow reply; we are presently in part of the country with virtually no mobile data 🤦🏼‍♂️
  3. Hi All, I’ve the following parts for sale. They were on my Octavia 2 Scout, but I believe they should fit any Octavia 2 estate. Genuine rubber boot mat/protector - Very good condition £40 Variable boot floor (all parts including the smaller boot carpet, sides, chrome lashings/mounts) - Some signs of wear (carpet is a little “fluffy’ from cleaning/use if that makes sense) £50 Genuine load/dog guard - Very good condition £50 1L Castro EDGE top up (mine was a TDI). £5 All parts have been stored for a year ( i had looked at getting another Scout…), so may be a little dusty, but i will clean them and fully check prior to sale. I’ll post photos as soon as possible I’m selling these to raise funds for MS-UK as I’m running the London Marathon for them, after my niece was diagnosed with MS last year and can deliver in the S. Yorks area or meet up. Due to size and weight etc I wouldn’t be looking to post/courier
  4. I know what you are saying! Ours would have needed a bit of body TLC as there was the only sign of rust on the tailgate under the badge and the alloys were well in need of a second refurbishment but with literally a couple of hundred miles in a year it was not sensible to let it stand and suffer (my 2 series coupe was suffering even worse and would have needed a full set of MSport discs and pads ). We are being “reorganised” at work, there’s mutterings of redundancy and there is also a lot of talk about us continuing to work from home or be more agile rather than office based in the future to save costs, so if that’s the case a rethink on cars will be needed anyway No our son did pay us for the Clio and whilst it has a couple of scuffs on the bumpers it only has 50k on the clock and is mechanically sound so it was a cheap and known option. love the newer Swifts, had a MK2.5 GTI back in the day and regret letting that go, it was a proper little pocket rocket! Similar too for our MK2.5 MX5 miss that one also. But times change and sometimes it’s better to roll with it than try and fight 👍🏻
  5. Hi Skomaz! How are you? Yeah ours was a belter in the snow on the west side I need to update my profile on the cars! We bought my sons car off him when he moved out a few months back so have a MK2 1.2 Clio Campus My wife says it the only car we bought twice as he borrowed money off us to buy it, had it for a year through lockdown, hardly used it and then we bought it off him We are lucky as we’ve elderly family in Aughton and Chesterfield with big cars who are happy to let us use them “to give them a good run” so we have access to.... a Roomster, a Zafira and a 3 Series Touring. The big thing for me will be if and when we go back to the office. If that happens then I think another Fabia will be on the cards. If it doesn’t and my son decides he wants the Clio again then I think we’ll be looking for a Citigo. If I can pull my finger out I’ll put some of the accessories from the Scout in for sale bits
  6. Blimey, I can’t remember the last time I posted anything meaningful here, so firstly sorry! This feels a bit odd as I don’t know many of you guys these days but for those that are around from a few years back... sorry! I guess I’ve been away for a while, but not without a Skoda.... until now. For nearly 10 years I’ve enjoyed our Octavia Scout, it’s simply been the best car I’ve ever had. Our family grew up with it, it took us to amazing events and on life changing holidays. It never broke down and was the only car to ever get off our 15% street in the winter snows but this last year it has hardly moved. like many I’m sure, this last year had been a challenge and a change. The mantra of “stay at home” really meant that for our family. So with 3 cars across our family doing nothing we have taken the decision to let the newest/biggest two go to new homes and this sadly means the Scout has departed. It’s not “good by”, but more of an update on my absence/silence! It’s highly likely that we’ll have another Skoda before too long (thoughts at the minute are Fabia again or Citigo if the lack of travel continues) but for now it’s a Skodaless home. Take care folk
  7. Sorry to resurrect this, but as per Marewx’s question does anyone know the paint code for the matte silver on the front bumper of the Scout and if it’s the same as used for the optional silver roof rails?
  8. I'm being cautious in this response, but so far it seems to be running consistently at 90c, however only a lot more miles will truly show if it has fully resolved the issue. This is the part.
  9. May not exactly the same problem, but I’ve found there is a second thermostatic valve on my Scout with DSG. It’s just at the side of the of the gearbox oil cooler. I noticed that on some journeys (even lengthy motorway runs) either it could take 45 minutes to get up to temp or the temp wouldn’t stay at 90, but would drop to 70 or lower at times. Discussed with the dealer who said that they didn’t come across may main thermostat failures and it was booked at 3+ hours labour, so I was keen to try cheaper options first! Anyway a look on a ver VW forums identified a similar issue and identified this second valve as a possible issue. Further on the thread just turned into a load of replies saying they have tried this and it fixed the issue. It’s worth while saying there was nothing coming up on VCDS. So today I swapped mine over. Took about 40 mins to do, but I wasn’t rushing things. Took it for a quick run afterwards and in 10 minutes it was up to temp. The gauge came up nice and smooth with none of the dropping back to 70. I’ll only know if it’s been the fix over the next couple of weeks, but so far seems like £23 was worth it!
  10. I had similar last winter on the drivers side, would do the side to side dance but not up and down. VCDS showed it had full range of movement and once I’d done that a couple of times it seemed to work ok. dealer suggested that as it had happened after setting off with a very heavy load that it had perhaps just gone out of range in trying to self level and got stuck!
  11. Hi All, Well after 6 years of ownership of my Scout CR DSG (with nothing to report and hence my absence) i've a couple of issues turn up at once . Firstly the BT has started to crackle, pop, whistle & whine when you are using the phone. The whistling is often worse when in line with pressure on the accelerator and the pops and crackles are more noticeable and in time with every bump on the road! VCDS gives the following codes: Address 77: Telephone (J412) Labels:| 3C8-035-730-A.clb Part No SW: 5N0 035 730 D HW: 5N0 035 730 D Component: Telefon 009 0511 Revision: -------- Serial number: 35909603152957 Coding: 020100000100010000000000 Shop #: WSC 73430 031 00090 ASAM Dataset: EV_UHVPremi A01005 ROD: EV_UHVPremi_A01.rod VCID: 295240984810810EFD-807C 3 Faults Found: 9457425 - Left audio channel for speech/telephone B104F 11 [008] - Short to GND Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 4 Fault Frequency: 33 Reset counter: 63 Mileage: 108530 km Date: 2017.07.07 Time: 09:45:55 9457169 - Right audio channel for speech/telephone B104E 11 [008] - Short to GND Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 4 Fault Frequency: 254 Reset counter: 68 Mileage: 108529 km Date: 2017.07.07 Time: 09:17:02 13893632 - Function Restricted due to Insufficient Voltage U1400 00 [008] - - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 6 Fault Frequency: 7 Reset counter: 42 Mileage: 108566 km Date: 2017.07.11 Time: 10:04:15 I've found very little specific on here of the net, but wondered if these are a sign of the module going down or possibly a break in the loom? My second issue is a wayward temperature gauge (no faults recorded), but shows temp often running between 50-70c and doesn't stay stable. It does occasionally get to 90c but it's all a bit hit and miss. I'm suspecting a thermostat issue, but as I've got the DSG box, someone suggested there is a second thermostat/temp sender for the gearbox and that could be the issue? I understand that the main thermostat is a bit of a faff to swap out, but again the suggestion was the gearbox one is cheaper and simpler so may be worth swapping anyway? I seem to think our old Fabia had a similar issue and it turned out to be the expansion tank not holding pressure.... there is no loss of coolant and no running hot i should say. Again any help or advice from you lovely peeps would be much appreciated!
  12. This the crux of it, i don't want an online presence; just a method of communicating between some member of my family without without certain members joining in like many families ours has it's share of dysfunction
  13. Cheers All, The main benefit for me is that a lot of our family events are co-ordinated via Facebook. Photos are mainly shared via photo hosting apps/cloud drives etc. Last year all our family met up in Greece and the whole thing was co-ordinated via Facebook. It can clearly work for some things but i know that it has a negative side and theres hardly anyone in my family who hasn't had that happen to them too Yes I gave up on Linkedin even though i have to be on there for work, for a similar reason. Even though i have only ever accesed it from a works machine with "no personal contacts on it" it still managed to find family members, some of who i've had no contact with for 30 years!!!!! Or who'd i'd want contact with for at least another 30!!!! The more i think about it the more i think i'll put off until it's no longer a viable option to not have an account.....
  14. Just wondering if there is a way of using Facebook without giving Mr Z all your details (probably including your inside leg measurement) and spreading it all across the net? I've avoided Facebook like the plague, and am very careful about what info i use on line. I always decline to show my name if full when reviewing things etc and look for outputs to mail shots and the like. So far i've managed to keep a reasonably low profile on social media. As you might guess I'm not the sort of person who wants the world to know what either myself or my family are doing very second of the day! However a lager part of my family now live abroad and they use Facebook to share photos and especially now to plan events etc. I'm now a bit of a luddite being one of the only "oldies" that doesn't do Facebook, and have to rely on others to pass on info etc. Last year my niece largely planned her wedding on Facebook, and my nephew is doing the same this year, and with special babies due, it really is not reasonable for me to have to keep asking other members of my family to sort out things for me. I there a way i can use face book and not display all my personal details to the world. I only need my family members to see i'm there, but I've read some horror stories about what Facebook can access from your browser/addressbook etc etc. My wife has also been pestered and bullied by previous acquaintances she's declined to "friend" and i really don't want that level of agro. Any pointers would be appreciated!
  15. Hi All, been an age since I needed to post a question as the Scout has been running so well! However I have had a possible issue over the weekend and searches on here didn't get me all the way to a solution. My Scout has the AFS Xenon from factory and on Friday evening heading for Wales I noticed that the driver side light didn't do the up and down load levelling part of the "xenon dance", but continued to do the right left. It therefore stayed resolutely in the "safe/faulty" down position. The passenger side continued to behaved fully as normal and there was no warning light on the dash. I was eventually able to get VCDS plugged last night. A quick scan revealed no error codes, so I suspected a mechanical issues with the light unit . However going into the module in VCDS i was able to test the movement of the lights, telling them to move left/right, up/down and centre. The details in the tests seemed to indicated that there was the majority of the load on the front of the car as suspected. Unfortunately i've not found anything on VCDS wiki as to what the detailed data meant, so didn't play around! So my questions are a follows: I know there are load sensors (front & back), but how many are there? Reading around didn't tell me if there are 2 x front & 2 x rear i.e. one per corner or not. Could the sensors fail and not stop an error code? Can hitting a bump cause the Xenons to "lock or stick" in one position? Is there anything else i can look for as to a possible cause? All seems to be working as normal again; but i'm no believer that these things just "cure themselves"!
  16. Cheers Mate, gutted to be letting her go, but family have to come first
  17. Sadly i’m putting up for sale our much loved MX5. We’ve had her for about 4years and spent a lot on her keeping on top of things that many would just leave. Unfortunately as I am a carer for my elderly father we have just not been able to use her as much i’d have liked. So with my son wanting to go to university and all that will cost, we’ve decided to put her up for sale. The Good Stuff: The spec is as follows. 02 plate Mazda MX5 Phoenix 1.6i 16V Mileage Approx. 88,500 Last service October 2014 MoT April 2015 (no advisories) Will be re-taxed at the end of the month, but as you know under the recent tax changes this no longer transfers. In Titanium grey with Sienna brown leather upholstery Usual Titanium spec includes heated seats, electric mirrors, electric ariel and windows, remote central locking. Colour coded tonneau cover in it’s protective cover and limited edition Phoenix carpet mats and badges. In addition it comes with the following genuine dealer options Front fog lights TT Style bar and wind deflector Also but not pictured: Hardtop with MX5 Parts cover/hanger and genuine Mazda luggage rack with correct heavy duty boot springs and bump stops Modifications to standard: Lockwood Racing Grille Mazda JDM side reflectors Mazda JDM Sun visors Mazda JDM Rear lights US Spec footwell lights Pioneer F930 BT CD/iPod/MP3/Nav/DVD system with Bluetooth phone and music steaming Infinity 8023i Speakers (direct fit so no cutting or drilling) Leather handbrake & gear gaiters K&N Typhoon Induction system Magnacours HT Leads Silvered indicator bulbs Xenon bulbs all round Work carried out: Cat 1 Alarm and immobiliser with 2 zone protection and electronic boot release New radiator New roof tensioner spring (a Mazda recall) Extensive paint work correction plus repairs to sills (Painter Dave) Four alloys refurbished Four good Uniroyal Rainsports Tyres (excellent on this chassis) New clutch Recon gearbox - & new seals Professional wax oil treatment to chassis New rear springs New front discs pads and callipers Spares including a spare steering wheel and other trim parts removed for the dealer option are included as is the original radio CD Comes with original keys and remote as well as the new integrated alarm Extensive history folder with receipts for most work The not so good: The front bumper has a few chips and could do with a refresh & there is a small blister on the nearside front wheel arch. The leather has been regularly treated, but the divers seat is showing some ageing. The soft top is still the genuine Mazda synthetic one, and has a couple of fold marks on the very edge, but the seals are tight, the cabin is dry and the drains are checked regularly. Overall as a regular driver, she’s in superb condition. In it’s present form with all the extra’s, i’m looking for £2,575 (the hard top alone could be sold for £400!). I’m also willing to fully revert her back to standard if you’d prefer for £2,150. But if you want standard, you’d probably get more buying as is and stripping the parts off for yourself!!! She drives very well having had 4 wheel alignment done by Rodders (Roddison Motorsport) and starts first time, having always been on a trickle charger since we got her, theres never been a battery issue. She’s located in Sheffield and is ready for the summer and with the hard top you are safe in winter too!! Go on, you know you’d like one, and Mk2.5’s in this condition are getting scarce!
  18. Similar to conversations with my elderly father! Me: Dad what kind of soup do you like? Dad: Soup? Me: Yep.... Dad: Fruit Anyone recommend a recipe?
  19. It's humpday in a week where i don't need it!
  20. Having a stay at home holiday. Like a go away holiday except when SWMBO nags about broken fixings I've got no excuse about not having tools to fix them!!!
