  1. So whilst inspecting the engine bay of my 2019 vRS I noticed that there was a damaged cable in which looks to be some kind of sensor cable plugging into the engine. Tracing the cable back it is part of the main loom that comes into the engine bay. Obviously I am expecting this to be covered under warranty but just concerned that my car which has been freshly paint corrected and detailed won't be treated with the same kind of respect that I would give it. It looks like in order to fix the one connector they would need to replace the entire loom so would be a pretty big job? I'm also concerned about whether its safe to drive with the cable how it is currently. Pictures of the car and the cable issue below. I only bought the car used a couple of weeks ago and I've already had it back in to have the bonnet resprayed due to awful stone chips. The dealer I bought it from is 50 miles away so I'd want to take it somewhere locally. Some pics of the car with its shiny ceramic coat on - and the cable damage below. Is this something that would require anything drastic? The last time I took a car that had been detailed (my old f80 BMW M3) the body shop scratched the bumper and I didn't notice it for a few days. Hopefully they take heed of the massive 'Do not wash posters' I intend of plastering to the car. Cheers all!
  2. As per the above, you can use 502, 504 or 508 in your vRS 245. I just changed my oil from the factory water like 508 to 504 spec. After researching this further I may even swap it in a few thousand miles to 502 spec for even greater engine protection. 502 will offer better protection and lubrication long term especially if we get a warm summer. I plan on changing my oil every 4-5000 miles. The oil was filthy black even after 5400 miles from new with the 0w-20. I dread to think what it would look like after 20k if I stick to the variable servicing. VW definitely don’t care as much about the motor in my car as I do. Their interest is to sell you a new car.
  3. This thread baffled me.... 1 -there is a clear sump plug and you don’t need to remove any bolts other than the one that is for the oil pan/sump (vw tool ideally). 2 - - The petrol vRS takes 5.7L of oil (as per the workshop manual). 3 - There are loads of videos on YouTube showing the exact process end to end. Search for VW mk7 golf gti oil change. 4 - You’re supposed to change the plug at each oil change if you have a plastic oil pan. If you have a metal one it’s just the o-ring that needs changing. Disclaimer: I’ve not read the entire thread. Also, not trying to criticise at all but genuinely confused by the process used. I did an oil change on my vRS 245 today and it was super easy. 20 minutes work. wow...
  4. Good find that. I think I'm going to re-fill with 504 rates 5w-30 at the weekend. It would seem that this is perfectly acceptable as per the workshop manual I purchased: - 5w-30 seems to be far cheaper and much easier to get hold of.
  5. Thanks buddy. Yeah I’m going to stick with VW504. Bought my car used with around 5600 miles on the clock and plan on swapping the oil out a lot more regularly than the variable servicing that is recommended.
  6. Hey - thanks for the reply - my manual doesn’t say the same as yours? Why are Skoda changing oil to 5w-30 at the service If it should be 0w-20? The engine has not changed since I had my octavia 220bhp estate, it’s just a software update to raise to 245bhp. Ive just bought 9L of 5w-30 based off my conversation with Skoda and previous experience 😩
  7. Hello all, This has probably been done to death but I’m not sure the answer is clear enough for me. What oil is supposed to go in the VRS 245? This is my second Octy and the first one I had used 5w-30. I’ve heard that 0w-20 should be used for GPF cars? I’m not even sure my car has a GPF - is there a way to tell? I called my local Skoda dealer who said when they do an oil change they would use 5w-30. I asked about what these cars come with out of the factory and he said it’s the same oil. He doubled checked with a colleague in the workshop to confirm. I’m assuming if I did an oil change 5w-30 would be fine - it’s the same engine as my previous car and not sure how a GPF effects what oil is in the engine. The manual is literally no help - says something along the lines of ‘please consult your local workshop or service centre’ How can it be this difficult to find out what oil to use? Unless of course I’m to take my dealers word for it. Thanks in advance
  8. That's fair enough telboy, I had a look on the APR site last night and they do look good. The induction kit and other tuning products they do look good also. Two things that are stopping me from getting a remap and other tuning bits are warranty and insurance.... :/
  9. Thanks for the replies all. So there are holes behind the number plates then. Cool - I'll for them later.
  10. Any reason to chose APR over REVO? I am considering a remap also one the warranty ticks down a little bit more (only 5 months old). I'd be interested to hear your decision making process with regard to choosing your tuning supplier. Cheers.
  11. So I bought some number plate surrounds for my mk3 vrs.... Didn't realise that the number plates don't screw on but instead are stuck on with adhesive. Has anyone fitted these plate surrounds to their octy? If so how did you for them? I appreciate I'll need to pull the plates off but don't want to damage them in the process... Cheers
  12. I've ordered a vbf... Just wondering if it's possible to remove it when necessary? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. Not my cup of tea but still looks good. Enjoy! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Just a thought - does your graphics card require power to it? You'll see either 4 pin, 6 pin on 8 pin connectors on it... it may be that as soon as you install the drivers it enables the additional features and falls over. What model card is it? Thanks.
  15. Thanks Andy.... That sounds bad. Maybe worth getting it done by a third party then... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. £500 eek. At least he paid up though.... some people just wouldn't and deny all knowledge. Unlucky but fair play at least he's sorting it. Mistakes happen.
  17. Hmm, maybe a cancellation of GardX I think. I could always get it done by someone who knows what they are doing.
  18. Can anyone tell me, at what point is the GardX applied (if you choose as an option)? The reason I ask is that I'm considering telling the dealer to leave all the stickers and do the valet myself... I know what muppets dealerships can be, they're bound to **** something up so I'd rather do it myself. The only issue is, I did ask for GardX so that might pose a problem to my plan. Unless of course, it is applied at the factory, I get the feeling this is applied once it gets to the dealer... Thanks.
  19. Ordered: Oct 4th Provisional Build Week: 18 Delivery: June or Even July.... That would make it 8 or 9 month from order to delivery. Shocking! Mine's a VRS Estate TSI in White Every option apart from Pano roof.
  20. I think I can top all of that.... I ordered a top spec VRS TSI on October 4th. I've been told it's build week 18 (April 28th) and that I shouldn't expect to see it at the dealership before June/July. The way I see it, it's costing them money every month I wait. I've agreed a PX price on my car with them and they will be paying through the nose for it come hand over time. The deal will be getting adjusted (lowered in price) when I take delivery since the final settlement fee on my current car will be lower. So, even though the wait is annoying I know that I'm getting a really good deal once the car does show up. They can keep building it into 2015 for all I care.
  21. I did originally but got told that I can't have them. Spec list is quite high (everything but panoramic roof) but even so, 9 months is a long time to wait for a car. I feel a phone call to Skoda coming on...
  22. Anyone getting quoted ridiculous build weeks? Ordered our car the start of October and we're being quoted that the build week will be 18 (28th of April 2014). The dealer then went on to say it could be a further 3-4 weeks to build it plus 4 weeks after that for god knows what. That would put the car actually arriving at the dealers sometime in July! What does it take to get an honest dealer, they quoted at the very latest March for delivery. Infuriating! We've also had the spec changed as others have and they haven't guaranteed that the spec could change again before delivery..... Lookers Stockport - shocking.
  23. Don't let 'The Wanderer' here you say positive things about front assist... according to him, if you need front assist then you shouldn't have a driving license. His 'mk1 eyes' are more than are required apparently. I agree with you though, very useful feature by the sounds of it. I was very disappointed when I learned that I couldn't order it with my TSI VRS. Really glad it helped you out, money well spent on the options list i'd say!
  24. I'd be surprised if you could get in the 50's with a petrol engine. My current Golf GTD will get 60mpg if driven like a grandad on a long run, but realistic 'normal/slow' driving I'm seeing 45mpg in my commute journey. I'm awaiting delivery of my petrol vrs but I'd be happy with anything i the 30's, doubt I'll see more than that.
  25. Hey, congrats.... one thing I would say is you're likely to get a call saying Front Assist is not available... I ordered this but Skoda have pulled it due to high demand. They have also discontinued Adaptive Cruise control and Lane Assist (unless it's standard on the car). I have a manual White estate on order also.
