  1. Hi 2009 fl 1.9tdi estate replace tailgate at weekend ( rusty around lock release and number plate lights ) with second hand replacement ( and battery ( was original and didn’t like the cold weather and no daytime running so not get decent charge and tester stated ‘ FAILED REPLACE ‘ ) everything seems to work however I’ve not got either of the interior luggage compartment lights working ( however the tailgate open warning light on the dash works ) I remember that these lights used to go out on their own after a while even if the tailgate was still open so guessing there’s a timer somewhere, does that need resetting however other interior lights work on the doors and extinguish correctly ( seem to think tailgate lights stayed on a lot longer though so different timer maybe? ) checked bulb in one light ( do they both need to work maybe I should check both ) any ideas please
  2. Thanks guys i was trying to check the actual colour of the second hand tailgate I’ve been offered as there’s more than one ‘ grey ‘ 9151 is stone grey 9153 is anthracite grey ( one required ) and there’s more .... and from pictures is very difficult to see a difference but I can bet your bottom dollar it’ll show up big time on the car !! so I’ve no access to anything other than the number plate
  3. Hi is it possible to check the cars paint code with only the cars registration number for reference ( I’m trying to source a used tailgate ? ) thanks in advance for any replies
  4. Kind of says it all really 24k miles is well under 40k change recommendation 4 years 2 months is only 2 months over the 4 year recommendation another poster will say they’ve done X thousands of miles in Y years and no issues In other countries Skoda will state a different time/mileage to the UK essentially it’s always going to be a partial gamble as said many times before my take on the situation if I owned the car from new I would ( and did ) adhere to manufacture recommendations ( at least you’d have a leg to stand on in the event of a premature failure ) once the car devalues to the point of its next major failure being financially if I was buying a car from a dealer and the cam belt was over due or due in the near future I’d ask for it to be done before I purchased ( these costs are built into the screen price if the buyer doesn’t ask then it’s a win win situation for the dealer ) private purchase if such work was due it would ring alarm bells and I’d check everything on the car ( twice )
  5. Pleased to read you’ve decided to keep your car imho opinion the mk1 Fabia is one of Skodas better product the fact yours is a vrs is just icing on the cake my wife had a mk1 1.9 tdi elegance 2007 from new for 11 years and I know deep down she still regrets selling it ( but I’m wise enough not to mention it !! ) and she still cringed every time she sees it being driven around
  6. Hi can anyone tell me if there’s any difference in the tailgate on a pre and facelift mk11 Octavia estate ( my 09 facelift estate has serious rust developed in the last few months around the right hand number plate lamp housing, I’m thinking this would be awkward or non cost effective to repair ) happy for any advice even if it’s just “ that’s a common problem “ which would make think twice about buying a replacement without viewing !! thanks for any advice in advance
