Octavia Vrs - Oil temp too hot & Power loss
ccrosb replied to BigSimon's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Sounds very much like a failed water pump. Mine failed at 50000 miles with the same symptoms, I had the timing belt changed at the same time due to the amount of labour required to change water pump. If it is this your probably looking at a bill of at least -
If it happens again check the temperature gauge, I had similar symptoms when the water pump failed. The tell tale in my case was that prolonged boosting put the temperature gauge into the red and then there was no boost until the temperature came back down to 90.

Re Fourth Skin Totaly Shameless thread hijack alert! http://www.ccrosb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/rainbow-1.wmv Sorry ! -
sorry, flat with normal. It will feel better with optimax esp after a few tanks.
-
I found It made a big diffence 0 - 2000 rpm before the turbo spools. felt very flat otherwise compared with normal unleaded (95RON). compared with SUL (97 Ron) is far more subjective and has been the subject of debate many times before. edited to add, if you dont feel any difference after one tank. try a second tank full. The benifits can sometimes only be felt after a few tanks.

Normally I'm the same but have on occasion felt the need to leave it in gear while overtaking rather than changing during a manouver.
-
I dont have have Vag Com yet anyway.

Is there one? It seems happy to go to 7500. Has the limiter just been moved up a bit or has it been removed completely ? Anyone know ? I'm not brave enough to experiment.

Grizzle. Theres a Scoobynet RR day at Dastek in August http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=326943 I'm thinking of putting my name down. They are pre-booked for months in advance and is probably better to try and get in on this one rather than organising a Skoda one.

I'd have to agree with kenny. I've been to a rolling road day here and was very impressed all who attended were also impressed (link below Hopefully) http://www.fccuk.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=192100&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 Might be an idea to compare your final results with my APR chip. They should have my car on file.
