  1. Haven't been on this site in a while, sold my vRS a few years back. Just recently bought another (couldn't refuse it at the money!!) haven't even set my eyes on it yet!! Only problem with it is that it will start, run for a few minutes and then stop. Obviously I know a diagnostic check is the best option, but just thought I'd ask here if there is anything obvious to check beforehand? Car was a finance repossession so I reckon the previous owner has sabbotaged it a little before handing it back!!
  2. Just to let you know I got this problem solved!! As MoggyTech said, it was the signal wire that was broken - it had broke right at the plug as well! Thanks - I owe you one! Got it sorted and car going 100% now, on the lookout for a set of lowering springs now so I can get the TT Comps fitted!!
  3. Cheers, I'm more inclined to think it's the alternator sense lead going by that. Are they dear from Skoda? Also would this cause the lack of power steering as well?
  4. Just got myself another SDi Fabia for a winter runaround, 02 with 80k miles. Had shampooed the seats today, and left it sitting running to dry them out. After a while I noticed the airbag light and the power steering light were on on the dashboard. Turned the car off, and tried to restart it to see if they came on again, and it refused to start. Got it started again with jump leads, but the power steering light was still on, and the power steering wasn't working. Car still won't start by itself, I had originally thought the battery maybe wasn't that hot so changed it, but it has made no difference. The car was going perfectly fine all week, the power steering light had never came on which I thought was a good thing! Could this be the steering angle sensor playing up, or could it be something more serious? Thanks Adrian
  5. An even easier solution is to buy mark 4 Golf rear flaps, they fit on without any trimming!!!!! I have no pics of my old one on this computer, but I'll post some up tomorrow evening!
  6. IMO there is absolutely no need to rev a TDi up to 4k rpm, never mind beyond it!!!! Does the 160 intake fit a 1.4 TDi though?!!!
  7. Looked at the cars last night and saw that they looked fairly similar so tried it on the vRS, and it fitted with no cutting at all!! Cheers for the reply though!!
  8. Does anyone know if a Bosal SEAT Ibiza towbar would fit a Fabia, my mate is selling his and could be a cheaper way of me getting a towbar!!!:P
  9. Not guilty your honour!! @ octav.ed - you missed mine when it was quick!!!:P
  10. I have a red one for the time being, up for sale at the minute though!! And it used to be a little quicker than standard (179bhp/315lb ft), but have put it back for the sale!! There is def a lot more popping up around here, although I've got a very bad response from Auto Trader so far!
  11. I'm getting an Ibiza 1.4 TDi as a company car, but I have tuning boxes (both digital and the resistor type) from previous 1.9 PD's that I've had. Will any of these fit the 1.4, as it's going to kill me coming from a remapped vRS to the 1.4!!! I won't be able to remap it for obvious reasons, but I will be putting a box in it, it would just be nice if I didn't have to spend more money!!!!:P
  12. I've had mine remapped for 20k + miles, and have no clutch slippage yet, and it was rr'd with 315ib/ft on Sat past. I was told when I got the map done that my clutch wouldn't last too long, but with careful driving it should be grand.
  13. It was mapped by a fella local to me, Aidan Kennedy he is called. Rolling road was East Coast Customs Online shopping, ECC They have a reputation for under reading, but it doesn't overly bother me, as I know how well the car goes, was just really putting it on for the sake of being nosey!!!
  14. Nothing really "wrong" with it, but more is always better!! I was sort of expecting around 185ish..........
  15. ........and I'm over the moon with the results!!! I got 175bhp which probably isn't great, but the important part is that I got 315ib/ft of torque which is more than enough!! Oh and before you say it, I have drove it like this for 20k ++ miles and no sign of clutch slippage!!!
  16. If you want a performance exhaust, your best bet is just to take off you standard back box, cut the top open, take out about half the baffles and weld it closed again, and off course a decat. This can all be done in very little time and, the most important bit, next to no cost. It probably sounds agricultural, but it works!!!
  17. Most likely problem is the EGR valve, or air flow meter.
  18. Might be a bit of a silly point, and if it is please tell me, but can the standard dual mass flywheel not be welded up solid?
  19. Has anyone got the dimensios of a Fabia FMIC? Looking into an intercooler at the minute which could work out a lot cheaper than the likes of a forge one!!!
  20. Just reading through this thread and was thinking mine does the same and is usually followed by the power steering warning light coming on, and the computer and trip counter resetting itself. Turning the car off and on again sorts ou the light, but obviously something is amiss and it sounds like the above in my case anyway!!
  21. I got the SDi that I had remapped to see what difference it made (the advantages of having friends in the trade, no charge!!!!). To say I was suprised is an understatement, I wasn't expecting a monster and obviously I didn't get it, but it made the car a lot nicer to drive. The power was more spread out, and the mpg did go up as well, although that may have been because of the driving style I aopted when I was driving it!! I knew that I couldn't overtake much, so I just contented myself with cruising along, and if that's all you need a car for, then by all means go for it!
  22. I'll get you pictures at the weekend, it's dark by the time I get home from work these nights!! It looks almost OEM from the front, but you can see the bracket holding it at the back, but I'm working on something to hide it!!!
  23. Just afer fitting my Polo one there, well pleased with it!! Probably not a stable as the Fabia one, but it should do my job OK. It should have came from the factory like that though!!!!
  24. I've just bought one of the Polo ones off e-bay, hopefully it fits as easy as that!!!
  25. Could you not order an OEM one from a Skoda dealer?? I know with Vauxhalls you can order Opel parts such as badges etc from their UK dealers.
