  1. that seems to have been the fault thanks you it took a few attempts but its gone now
  2. On Monday my car decided to pop the steering rack, so today I took the day off and took her to the garage. All was good till I picked the car up when I spotted the air bag light on, When I got home I plugged it on to vag com and got this message but i don't know what it is or could be. I tryed to clear the fault but but it came back. 01217- side airbag igniter. driver side (N199) 32-00 0 resistence to high could anyone shed some light on the situation please thanks in advance
  3. here is a good post http://uk-mkvs.net/topic/65524-clutch-master-cylinder-diy-replacement-18t-golf-mk4/
  4. mine done the same I replaced it with a replacement from skoda. I have got the same problem but I know what mine is its the slave cylinder when the pedal snaps it bends the slave shaft causing the heavy clutch. skoda tell me every time I put it in for a service they say it need a new clutch lol. also mine slowly looses pressure so i have to lift it back up so glad i didn't fit the spring lol
  5. thanks mluton I sorted it this morning but I just left the spring off as the spring carrier on the bulk head dropped off behind the plastics so it can stay there lol
  6. Hi yesterday I had to call out the RAC when I when to change gear and my clutch pedal hit the floor with a bang, after a quick repair I could go to work and get home. My new clutch pedal with clips from skoda arrived that night thanks to my good mate in parts, but now have realised the slave cylinder arm is bent as well. What is the best way to fit every thing on or off the car (e.g take the pedal box off) we were going to just replace the pedal with clips but may as well do the slave as well. thanks in advance

  11. hi I would like to remove my door card as I had my window down the other day and I heard what sounded like me driving over a bit of metal only to fine my window wont go all the way down and when you put it up it tilts to the front of the car a bit, I believe this may be the runner from the window the car is a Octavia mk1 with leather trim and electric windows
  12. hi Mancitydriver mine is not the vrs just 1.8 turbo but I thought mine wasn't that quick when I got the car 2 weeks ago iv had all the belts changes but also had the ecu cleared of codes and it is a lot quicker now so I would suggest getting it plugged in to a diagnostic machine and check for codes
  13. hi everyone I joined a short time ago after I bought my Octavia 1.8 20v turbo estate on a 2000 plate as a work horse as my van died. love the car quite rare car so I'm told as it has full leather. I don't sit around with my cars Iv only had it 3 weeks had a few faults when I got the car, it was hunting at junctions, no temp reading and a few squeaks from the engine bay and no indicators so I ordered a new temp sender, thermostat, alternator belt, timing belt kit and hydraulic tensioner, hazard switch and indicator stalk. all fitted now all squeaks and hunting gone also car pulls a lot better and everything works as it should. only one fault left some code to do with the throttle body unsure what the code was at the moment. I have a ram air cold air filter on its way for the sound the other cars I have are 1985 mk1 Vauxhall nova 1.3sr I have had this for 2 years 1982 mk3 ford escort 2.1 zetec turbo currently being restored for the second time in 6 years I have owned it for 12 years now I will add a pic of the Octavia when I get a chance to take one.
