if you have had few superb's can you compare them regarding: space ( back seat leg and showder space), drive comfort, noise, performance with regular Octy not sport one if you tested regular one as well.
-
Hello skovirg, Can you compare the ride quality of the both Superb and Octy III? Which one is better on ruff surfaces? Which Octy you drove, the one with multi-link or the one with torsion beam?
-
Thanks for the info. I will definitely do the testing on the highway, because this is what i will do most, so this is important to me. I will skip the sport suspension, because our roads are not the smooth.
-
True about the size, but i what about the performance. The Octy is almost 200kg lighter and with load the overtake must be more easier with Octy.
-
Thanks for the info. I was just wondering about ride quality because the Octy (depends on the trim) must have this multi-link on the back and it should rides betters than torsion beam. However the Superb also has multi-link on the back and i was just wondering which one is better in terms of ride quiality
-
Does not the Superb also have some electronic in the steering? By "better car" you meant that it drivers better, it is quitter, etc?
-
Hi, If you have driven both with one drives better then? I think that yours with 1.8 TSI Octy should have multi-link suspension on the back. What it is like compared to the Superb one?
-
Hi,since you tested both Superb and Octavia III, can you say which one drives better? At the start of this post markmi mentioned that Superb drives better than Octavia III?

Hi Anders, I know that DSG (especially 7 speed one) does not have very positives that you can say about it when we are talking about reliability. And now i saw this one http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/295334-vw-recall-for-7-speed-dsg-vehicles/ and still wondering for additional money I may spent on it, does it worth it or i can put my cash for additional extras. By the way, how is yours performance when fully loaded plus overtaking? As LS108 mentioned in above, what about elasticity when you have to overtake and you are loaded?

1.8 TSI 4x4 DSG Almost here.. :)

Oh, I saw your beauty I personally prefer to be visible, but then the element of surprise is always nice -
I am not sure about diesels, but for the petrol (for example) Honda's passenger cars are without turbo. Yes, they have 2.4L petrol, but somewhere i read that 1.8 TSI is pretty much comparable with it (even over perform it in some situations/areas). If you drive normal 1.8 with AC ON and 1.8 TSI with AC ON (forget about temperature , etc) just compressor to be ON and if you have the chance to have your family on board + loaded and you have to overtake there is no doubt who from both engines is better. By the way 50-60 Nm and 10-30PS above is a big difference in the petrol, at least these engines I've driven.

Ok, so it is not like the Superb two pipes from each side (http://www.google.bg/imgres?rlz=1C1_____enBG460BG460&espv=210&es_sm=122&biw=1745&bih=974&tbm=isch&tbnid=x-XQfHDB9I6S1M:&imgrefurl=http://www.zr.ru/content/articles/334475-skoda_superb_combi_na_vyrost/&docid=-Jf8d5H7ZDbwLM&imgurl=http://cache.zr.ru/wpfiles/uploads/2011/07/201107081113_10.jpg&w=1096&h=654&ei=XfZ5UrixLYKVtQbKgoHwBw&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:2,s:0,i:84&iact=rc&page=1&tbnh=174&tbnw=271&start=0&ndsp=33&tx=120&ty=80), but even so it is beautiful on the Octavia as well, just i do not know why do they hide them on the Octavia ? -
Hi, I recall that some old mechanic mentioned this when i was visiting car repair shop with friend of mine, but that was 7-8 years ago. I google it and found some interesting posts in the net which states that with modern engines the performance should not suffer that much even tough that some of those people where talking about V6 engines ( I am not sure how 4 cylinder ones will perform). However obviously with modern technologies this issue is gone.

1.8 TSI 4x4 DSG Almost here.. :)

Thanks for the info. So, twin exhaust is somehow related to 4x4 :( . Nice to hear about multilink that makes so much difference in the ride comfort. -

Hello Kebe, One more question - do you know if the standard skoda octavia estate comes with twin exhaust or it is only 4x4 one? -

Hello Kabe, Really nice car. Is there a major difference between multilink and non-multilink rear suspension? Have you tried them both? There was someone from above who mentioned the 4x4 has firmer suspension, but i thought that for 4x4 and in our country where i can get 1.8TSI 4x4 the suspension is multilink. So, is there any difference in right comfort, which one is better on ruff surfaces? -
Here i can get Octavia 1.8 TSI 180PS 4x4 DSG6 and manual (FW) and I can get Superb with 1.8 160PS FW (manual or DSG) and 4x4 only manual. I will test it for sure. Does the 1.8 TSI on Superb has any difference with same 1.8 TSI on previous Octavia, because i think that my local dealer does not have (at the moment) Superb 1.8 to test?
-
Valid point about overtaking trucks on country roads or accelerating in highway from 60 to 160 and elasticity. If the TSI 160PS is very close to 170 PS TDI on the DYNO (as micloi said )is there a test for the elasticity comparing both engines? Does anyone know? Regarding RS - i looked on this one as well, but the suspension will be too hard for the roads here and i am pretty sure my wife will not trade the more comfort for the speed and elasticity . So, i would rather searching for the equilibrium here good elasticity and enough power when needed. So, if i decide for petrol 160 TSI would it be then 4x4 better (except fuel consumption). What about elasticity and heavier car?

Something i noticed in other thread in this forum that some people compared new Octavia III Estate with Superb Estate and stated that Octavia lags only in leg room space compared to Superb. Rear passenger space (shoulder to shoulder) for two or three adults is with no difference. Also the boot of the new Octy is 610 which bigger than Superb twin-door and with marginal difference with Superb Estate 610L against 633L. Is there anyone who tested both and can compare. Also i was looking on 1.8 TSI (on Octavia) 180 PS - how much is different this engine compared to 1.8 160PS on Superb? Regards, George
