  1. Hello Luckypants!!! I also have one of these in my Octavia 230.
  2. I got my first 50 miler in years this weekend, also on a Planet X. Started riding again about 6 weeks ago with three mates, two of us on road bikes and two on hybrids. Overall time was crap as we kept slowing down, or doubling back for the guys on hybrids. However, while they were twiddling on the granny ring up the steeper hills I road alongside in 4th or 5th, plunging, so still got a good leg workout. Beautiful weather, cracking views over the South Downs and good company. Have been looking at potential 100k routes for this weekend...
  3. My 230 (with the e-diff) bangs as well with cold tyres if I gun it
  4. Boardman Bikes are probably one of the best value in terms of spec and always get good reviews. I have a Boardman full sus and have had no issues at all. clicky
  5. I have been running a VRS230 for 12 months now. Average for the year overall was 34.2, can get over 40 easily enough on a long run with cruise set at 70.
  6. Order placed 1st Jan for home delivery but nothing received yet
  7. We went to the South of France (near Perpignan) for two weeks with 3 kids in an Escort Convertible (bizarrely the Escort was just about the only convertible with 3 seats/belts in the back). The next year I said *******s to doing that again and bought a Citroen Synergie (old C8)
  8. Yep. We have a 'lucky dip jar' of all the NT places within a 3 hour trip for those times when neither of us can make a decision about where to go . If we are out and about we use the NT app to find places near us. We usually have at least one trip out per month all for the cost of a couple of pints - brilliant value.
  9. I have a Planet X Pro Carbon SL with Ultegra group set. Cracking bike, and always had good service from them. However looking at some of the recent reviews they do seem to be struggling at the moment...
  10. I can get 40mpg on a motorway run if I try, current average after 6k miles is about 34 mpg. Mine stays in vRS mode most of the time...
  11. So sad to see the impact on Kaikoura - we passed through there in January this year, the scenery along the coast road was stunning. Just hoping it settles down a bit before we head back out to NZ again in a couple of months...
  12. - actually on offer at Halfrauds at the moment for £399!
  13. The Boardman Road Sport is currently on offer at less than £450 - definitely worth a look
  14. If you budget is £250-350 then I agree that second hand is the better option. Shimano Claris is the bottom of the range - it will work absolutely fine, but if you can find a bike with, say, 105 running gear then it will be lighter and smoother. Frame wise, I would suggest looking for aluminium frames - generally more forgiving than carbon fibre, and more likely to be within your budget. Size wise, a large might be fine but it will depend on brand and the style of the frame - definitely try before you commit. I use Shimano Xtr SPDs on my road bike with no problems. For long rides, road pedals might be more comfortable (your shoe sits on a bigger platform so the pressure is spread out) however you them look like bambi on ice when you try and all anywhere.

  16. That looks sweet as fook. I love my SL Pro Carbon, however don't ride that enough (or my other two bikes) to justify another one at the moment, despite Rule 12 (n+1) What is you plan now for the SL? I reckon it would make an awesome super-commuter - 11x1 and flat bars...
  17. Lane assist is standard, park assist and WLAN are not - you jammy git
  18. Yep. So much easier doing it online now. Swapping my wife's Alfa Spider for a new A3 cabriolet this morning - put the Alfa plate on retention online on Tuesday this week, paid the £80, new V5 for the Alfa and the retention certificate for the plate arrived yesterday. When I got my VRS earlier this year, I was unable to do it online. What a ball ache that was...
