  1. Thank you x1000! ...my local dealer hadn't a clue how to reset the 'inspection now' message. They said they'd look into it - I'm still awaiting a reply. In future I'll refer them to this forum.
  2. Thank you all so much for your help and advise, I'm very grateful Glyn
  3. Hello, ages since I last posted! I'm coming to that time... just a few months until I reach the end of my PCP agreement. I've been 100% satisfied with my Fabia Monte Carlo and popped into the dealers for a discussion. The thing is, he appeared to be really pushing the 90PS model in favour of the 110PS. My current model ('63) is 1.2 TSi 105PS and I'm wondering if I'll notice a difference in performance? The dealer assured me I wouldn't as the engines had really 'come on a bit' over the last few years. Am I being unduly concerned? There's about £600 difference and I'm really hoping someone can advise me whether or not I should save the cash or go for a little extra 'oomph'. Just another general question... my MC has been extremely well looked after and is in pristine condition, maybe I might be better buying it outright? ...Thoughts? Thanks very much in advance.
  4. Excuse my complete ignorance, but why would you need Valet Pro AND Citrus Pre-wash? Hope that doesn't sound rude, genuine question.
  5. I knew it! brilliant response, looks like I'll be trying the Valet Pro. Thanks very much indeed.
  6. Hello! I've just about exhausted my stock of Magifoam that cam as part of the offer from Autobrite when buying the lance several months ago, and am looking to replenish. The question is... should I go for like-for-like replacement foam or is there something better I ought to be using? - maybe even cheaper! I don't want to appear lazy, but there's such a bewildering range of products and I know I'm going to get great advise by asking here
  7. Has anyone tried this - http://pixlr.com/ from what I can gather, it's like a web-based version of Photoshop Elements
  8. I recall being told long ago that an old, well washed cotton tee shirt was the ideal material for buffing a freshly polished/waxed car. Would this advise still hold true, or have microfibre cloths consigned cotton to the dark ages? ...prompted by some wardrobe decluttering that might mean a trip to the clothing skip. Thanks, Glyn.
  9. I seem to recall being told that a well-used, well-washed old cotton tee shirt was the ideal material for buffing a freshly polished/waxed car. Would this still be good advise or has microfibre left cotton in the dark ages in this respect? ...prompted by a bit of a clear-out and a possible trip to the clothing skip. Thanks, Glyn
  10. Foam spray, Shampoo, then Turtle Wax Ice Synthetic Paste Polish
  11. Yesterday it poured down 10 minutes after I'd finished. Then the sun came out
  12. OK. I like to keep my pride and joy looking good as much as possible but simply don't have the time to spend whole days on it. I wash it every week (10 days max) using a foam pre-wash and 2 bucket method (good so far?). Where I really need some guidance is regarding polish/wax/sealants. I really want to use a (single) good all-round product every month or so that'll protect the paintwork as well as producing a shine to impress the neighbours. ...or maybe there are products I could use on alternate occasions? I'm happy to pay a bit over the odds for a well proven product but don't want to go daft! Thanks very much indeed. Here's some beads following yesterday's downpour 10 minutes after I'd finished waxing...
  13. Same happened with mine. It was quite handy really as I got them to sort out the one-click opening of all the doors with the key fob at the same time.
  14. same here, very loud - I had mine removed soon after having it put on as I leave for work at 5am and didn't want to become too unpopular with the neighbours. All doors unlocked with a single press is good though.
  15. I hope I can explain this clearly as possible, here goes... Using an Amundsen SatNav/Media Player in my Fabia Monte Carlo Tech, up until this morning I was playing songs from a SD Card with no problems whatsoever. However, this morning I paired up (bluetooth) my new Smartphone - successfully as far as I'm aware, but since doing this I'm finding that when I press the Media tab on the unit from any other function (ie SatNav, Radio, Phone) the player then goes straight to playing from my phone! It was a little confusing at first as I have same music files on the phone as I do on my SD Card. I then switched off my phone's Bluetooth but the player then refused point blank to play from my SD Card! I've since checked the SD Card which plays fine through other media (laptop). How could pairing up my Smartphone have caused this? There wasn't a problem when I previously had my (un)smartphone paired. Thanks in advance for any help or assistance, Glyn
  16. Surely you're still buying from Autobrite though, just 'indirectly'? Does anyone do an alternative product to AB's Magifoam, just as good?
  17. That's a great price Bob. My other half bought our Nilfisk to replace a knackered Karcher. I was a bit sceptical at first until I used it, much superior build quality too.
  18. Hi Bob, I ordered the lance and 5 x bottles of Magifoam £50 deal. I waited about a week for it to arrive before phoning and pointing out that I'd actually paid £6.50 carriage! It arrived 2 days later. I've used it on two occasions and have been very happy, the car is practically spotless and hardly needs shampooing afterwards. Just experimenting to decide how little solution I can get away with putting into the bottle and still achieve a nice, rich foam.
  19. I wouldn't use/recommend any car wash, hand or not. Sponges are used on 100's of cars, thrown to the ground, dunked in dirty water etc...
  20. no worries, I'll be needing an assistant though.
  21. I hate to rub salt into the wounds but my order arrived this morning. However, others' experiences have put me off future dealings.
  22. This will probably sound very stupid, but... what's a panel filter? I've been a Monte owner for about eight weeks and learned so much from this site. I've even surprised myself, never had even a passing interest in cars - I even use two buckets when washing the car now!
  23. I'll probably (hopefully) be all humble pie and forgiving tomorrow when my order arrives, and am still very grateful for being made aware - cheers Sparkly!
