  1. Replaced the D/S rear wheel cylinder and also had to replace the rear brake pipe at the same time, bled the brakes up and now they work perfectly, even better than before.
  2. Think I may have found the problem or part of it, the drivers side rear wheel cylinder is leaking quite badly
  3. Started to get ready to bleed the brakes, started by bleed nipple caps off and wire brushing and wding the bleed nipples. Noticed that when I took the cap off the drivers side front bleed nipple it was wet inside as if it has been leaking, none of the others were like this just the drivers side front. I' m guessing that if it a damaged bleed nipple the it could be sucking in air as well as leaking a bit of fluid
  4. Both front calipers are not seized as the pistons moved back freely and easly, I havent tryed bleeding the braked yet as time was getting on. I will try bleeding them tomorrow. As I have only done the front brakes do I only need to bleed them or do I need to bleed all the brakes? and is there a certain way of doing this?
  5. I didnt disconnect any brake pipes, Yes I did take the cap off the brake fluid reservior before I pushed the piston back,
  6. I'm in need of a bit of help/advice Yesturday/today I have been doing the front wheel bearings and top mounts on my car. While I had everything apart I decided to give my front brakes a clean as they were covered in brake dust and would squeak from time to time. So I cleaned them up, checked the pistons were free by carefully pushing them back, built them back up and pumped the brake pedal till it felt good. Finished putting the car back together and when for a drive to check everything and the brake pedal nearly hits the floors before they work. If I pump the pedal the brakes get better but then go rubbish again after a drive and I push the brakes. Does it sound like the brakes need bleeding or could it be something else?
  7. Cheers mate, Did what you said and while in high gear I accelerated to see if it rev's would rise unexpectedly, but it didn't., the car just pulled like it always has done
  8. Before I start I will just say this doesn't happen all the time and when it does it's only after I have been doing town driving (stop, start, changing gear a lot etc). When I press the clutch when slowing down I get a slight judder/vibration coming what feels like through the pedal. If I pop it in neutral and come off the clutch the judder/vibration stops. Is this the start of the clutch going? Or could it be something else?
  9. Been doing more checks on my car today while the weather has been nice. Found that the passanger side front top mount has quite abit of play in it so I'm going to replace it, and I'm also going to the drivers side to. Are these the correct top mounts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Top-Strut-Mount-Ball-Bearing-Skoda-Octavia-1-4-1-6-1-8-1-9-TDi-2-0-96-00-/310712140584?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AOctavia&hash=item4857e30328 Just wanted to check before ordering anything.
  10. When buy replacements, would it be best getting plastic ones like what is fitted or metal ones like fitted to other models?
  11. Started checking the car over today and noticed the front link arms looks like this Is there meant to be a gap each side or do they need replacing?
  12. Right today I fitted my sub,amp and all leads, now after fitting the RCA leads to the back of the stereo, the stereo wont go all the way back in as the RCA's are touching whatever is behind the dash (Something to do with the heater I think) Has anyone else come across this? if so how did you sort it? My car is a 1998/99 Octavia
