  1. just got my new car, with dog guard fitted & boot mat. Paid £125 for guard & £49.17 for the boot mat (dealer rounded down the price so didn't end up with a 'silly number'). Mat is very thick/hardwearing & well fitting. Was told they needed to fit the guard themselves due to special tool but made no big deal of it & was told it would be easy for me to remove if I so wished (not needed to try after just 1 week).
  2. horses for courses as they say. I do 30k miles p.a., mostly motorway/non-urban, so my 2.0 TDI DSG was right choice for me.
  3. I arrived at this forum as I too am confused by the range of my new Octavia, was perplexed when filled up for 1st time at the weekend and only got about 40L in, so checked manual, says 50L (not huge to start with compared with my previous cars 70.1L Passat & 61L A4 Avant(same size car) but can I even get the stated 50L in? I will need to fill up again tomorrow so am monitoring this closely and will see how much I can squeeze in, but this does worry me, and before some smart ar$e goes on about how to calculate range, please see the topic title. The reason I am concerned is I hate petrol stations, and tend to fill then empty so I go maybe once a week/every 600+miles or so. Now I am worried that I will be going twice a week, it doesn't take 5 minutes to fill up - it takes planning for the journey I do/ I want to avoid certain high price/motorway forecourts & shopping queues etc. I regularly drove to south of france on 1 tank in my previous cars (fully loaded & dicing with speed cameras all the way), looks like I will be making more stops from now on.
