  1. Would anyone recommend using an engine flush prior to new oil going in. Never used the stuff before but it did look a bit gunky around the filler rim. Just read a post on pistonheads forum about using an engine flush, I think I'll leave it well alone. Doesn't sound worth it.
  2. Thanks for all the tips. How much oil is needed? I was given 5ltrs, dont suppose it needs that much.
  3. Thanks chaps. Just received filter from local motor factors and it is the canister type. So I guess it's accessible from underneath. The oil they sent was 5w 40 I guess thats what's recommended. Are there any other tips I might find useful before I get my hands dirty?
  4. I use a clay bar twice a year to remove traffic film etc before polishing and waxing.
  5. Hoping to carry out an oil and filter change on my 1.4 2002 fabia this weekend. Have done a search but can't find a step by step guide for this model. Can anyone give me a quick run through on this please. Is the filter accessible from the top of engine or is it a case of getting under the car?
  6. Thanks for all your tips and advice. Ordered clips and plumbers gold and will be sorting the doors out this weekend. Looks like I'll be a regular visitor to this forum, great site with loads of interesting stuff. Might even order a sticker for back window.
  7. Thanks for advice. I'm pretty sure there is a leak the carpets are damp but could be from valet car had. I will keep my eye on it before I start pulling doors apart.
  8. Hoping this fix will work for me and will be giving it a go next weekend. Can someone point out exactly where I should drill holes as I can' be sure where they are from the picture (rear doors).
  9. I had a read about door carrier fault and tried to open link to diy fix but just kept getting web page unavailable. I think this is the problem :(
  10. Just bought a 2002 fabia which for it's a age is in good condition and drives like new. The only thing so far that I've noticed may need attention is the rear door cards have water marks on them. I guess this is a sign of water leaking in somehow. Any suggestions on what I should check and how to sort it will be very much appreciated.
  11. Hi Guys Going to view a couple of Fabia's today. Both 16v petrol 2002 models. Is there anything in particular I should look out for.
  12. Hi All Going to join the Skoda club tomorrow. Will be buying one of two Fabia's I've seen advertised locally. They are both 2002 models 16v petrol. As with any motor I'll be looking for all the usual stuff, making sure everything works, service history etc. Any pointers from experienced owners will be most welcome. Heres to a long happy relationship.
