  1. I've got a 63 plate with the newer CTHE engine from new and it's not burnt a drop of oil. It's been a fabulous car, and I love driving it. Probably the best car I have ever owned.
  2. Hi everyone. I'm sorry for disappearing off the scene. Unfortunately, I was taken really ill and have only really begun to recover. I was admitted to hospital and felt like rubbish for quite a while. Feeling better now though.
  3. Oh, isn't it a pain?!!! I don't think I've used anything as unintuitive as the MDI in my new Fabia vRS. It took ages for me to work out how to navigate through a folder structure, and with my ipod, I have to take tunes as they come!
  4. I used to use Linux, following the usual dreadful Windows Vista experience, which put me off Windows for life. Used to use Ubuntu, which I loved. Use a Mac these days as my old laptop wore out LibreOffice is excellent. I do have office for Mac, but I prefer Libre personally.
  5. Well, my Fabia vRS has now done 2000 miles and still not a drop of oil has been burnt! Feeling really pleased about that
  6. 20 th sounds fine with me. What does everyone else think?
  7. They sell it in Halfords as well.
  8. The trade in of my old smart Roadster was the deposit, which came to just under £4k
  9. Try scrubbing a hot solution of soda crystals. That'll get it out
  10. Silicone grease is pretty good, as it keeps the rubbers supple and prevents them from cracking over time.
  11. I shall be absolutely frank: Windolene cream. No, really! It's the only stuff that get's my glass completely clean. Mind you, you have to take care not to get it on the dashboard or other parts.
  12. I got 0% PCP with 12k miles per year for 3.5 years, £195 per month. That's for the vRS with leather steering wheel. No additions though, as it was the showroom model, but it's a lovely car and I'm very pleased with it.
  13. Let's stick with the Ship Ashore for our first meet, and decide what we do next time. I'm happy to meet anywhere, but decide to leave it be for our first meet. See you Friday guys
  14. OK, let's make Friday then. I should be there about 8pm. Is that OK? We can make it a regular monthly meet if you like so you should be able to make another event, Steve
  15. I've noticed that the 12v accessory socket isn't switched as well. Is there a way of making it switchable?
  16. Right then. I've made a decision - the Ship Ashore pub in Milton Keynes. It's very quiet and the food isn't bad either. http://www.emberinns.co.uk/the-ship-ashore-milton-keynes/ How does that sound? I am proposing a midweek meeting for Thursday or Friday, 16 or 17 January 2014. It's a nice quiet pub with a nice atmosphere. What does everyone think?
  17. Absolutely. I haven't forgotten. I'll just check my calendar. See post below
  18. Well, I am pleased to announce that my new Fabia vRS, in his first thousand miles, hasn't burned a drop! Feeling quite pleased
  19. I agree with Estate Man's post above. The ASG gearbox is the same in principle as that used by Smart in their cars (my previous Smart Roadsters has these boxes). Basically, ASG is an automated, or robotised, manual gearbox with a clutch actuator that operates the clutch and another motor operating the gears. They are generally very reliable, although they do take some getting used to. There are a number of reasons why the OP had these problems. I'm guessing a sticky actuator (it's very new, so this is possible) or a gear position sensor. Sometimes, a glitch in the ECU can cause problems, which is why it appears that restarting the engine could have solved the problem. You might find that the problem will lessen over time as the system beds in. Dave

    Oops!

Oh, absolutely. I was in Engineering dept (aircraft eng by trade) and you'd be shocked at some of the things they used to get up to.

    Oops!

I used to work for BA. Not at all surprised really!
  22. Two buckets of sick, walking down the road. One bursts into tears and, when questioned by the other, he says: "You see that house over there? It makes me emotional as that's where I was brought up"
