  1. Rubbish suspension, steering and seats. In my opinion the VRS is the only Octavia to have, the others aren't worth the money.
  2. My UK Elegence spec doesn't have that option, but it would be nice if it did.
  3. Yep, it's normal on the 1.6 diesel. I've driven a few (including mine) and they all do that odd little miss fire when on idle and cold.
  4. Blimey, that's a fair old increase! Surely lateral handling is terrible now?
  5. This is my first Skoda, and to be fair it's put me off. With credit to Skoda though, I've driven a few of the others and I think the Yeti for instance is a great car. Unfortunately the Octavia hasn't lived anywhere near up to my expectations though. It is however a good tow car and very practical, but if it had better seats, better suspension and sound proofing it would be a fab car.
  6. Thanks Aki! I've been thinking of trying the same. I did the same adjustment on all of the doors around 12 months ago.
  7. My 1.6 has been similar since I had it. Mine whines at certain speeds, and grinds in 5th gear. It's got over 50k on the clock now and hasn't got any worse so have left it. I did get it into the dealers around 20k miles ago, but they just fitted a new clutch which made no difference.
  8. I spent some time last weekend adjusting the boot stops on my estate, and I must say it has improved the situation. It's still not great though, neither is the road noise in these cars. They seriously lack the right sound deadening. I've got one year left on the lease and I can't wait to get rid.
  9. Same here with my estate, it's horrible. I wear ear plugs on long journeys now. It went in to the dealer yesterday and they blamed the uneven wear on the tyres. They've clearly got no interest. Have got a rattle on the glovebox and they said, "that's just how it is". Being stuck in a company lease contract is not great when you really don't like the car. I had a new Fabia and I'm sorry to say that it was quieter and smoother at motorway speeds, but it really shouldn't be. A larger car should by nature be better!
  10. Sounds like usual Skoda dealer bull. Mine is running the latest firmware and it's better than it has ever been. It's still clunky in operation as they all are, but has otherwise been very stable. Mine doesn't have the MDI socket though. The MIB2 unit in the car I had yesterday, now that's another story!
  11. As above, it's under the dash sort of directly behind the cubby hole near the accelerator pedal. It's same shape as any other OBD port.
  12. I've already done this on mine, but it makes no difference. I think XDS first needs to be activated.
  13. I don't recall dropouts up that part of the M6, so if I do get them they're momentary drop outs. I generally listen to BBC 6 music. I noticed I had quite a bit of trouble with my previous phone charger, but when I changed to a belkin USB plug type I've not had trouble since. I only loose signal for a significant period of time further up the M6, sort of lake district way when on route to scotland.
  14. Done 52k miles in my estate now as a technical support engineer driving country wide and get very few drop outs. There are certain spots I loose signal as would be expected, but It's one of the few things I'm pleased with on the car.
  15. It will be fine. Mine gets driven without any care and attention toward it as it is a company car, the system is designed such that there is no user input. Let it do what it wants. You will find on the odd occasion that you pull up at the end of the journey and the fans are running due to it doing a regen, just turn the engine off and lock and leave as you normally would. You really don't need to worry, they're only bad for people that do very short regular commutes. Realistically those sort of people would see no benefit in driving a diesel anyway.
  16. My 1.6 diesel is 53mpg long term average, so i'd say your VRS looks about right to me. As said previously, those passat figures don't look right. If you were using the on board computer MPG display then this can be affected by chipping.
  17. Well either way, it was rubbish from new. And when these came out I wasn't the only one complaining of rubbish steering on this forum. Perhaps people have just got used to it. Anyway, I think I have improved things. Will report back after a couple of thousand miles.
  18. Was the C set on your headlights already set to not active? On my car I had to do the B set rather than the C set to stop them coming on. My C set was already not active.
  19. I don't have any of that stuff no sorry. It's a company car and gets treated as such. I'm just not keen on the car. It has many good points don't get me wrong, I just feel it falls short on many things the car should be. I'm a controls engineer so altering things with software is something I like to do, so just wanted to have a tinker.
  20. True pressures are fine, had alignment checked at dealers. It's been rubbish since I had it. That and the poor comfort/ refinement are things that make it add up to being a relatively horrible company car. One year left, then I can get shot!
  21. Nope, not got lane assist. It would be working overtime if I did. The steering is rubbish on these cars. One of many things I'm unimpressed with.
