  1. Thanks marineboy. Just changed my 7 yr old Octavia for Kamiq SE L and ordered boot liner via your link. Fits OK and looks good. Only issue was Evri's tracking info which took two days to catch up with progress and then only gave me an hours notice of delivery!
  2. The code may well be found on a sticker in your service book. I got my touch-up from www.touchuppaintking.co.uk The code on their site is SKODA 9463/LF5W which I believe is the equivalent VW code. Anyway, when I tested it on the inside of the boot lid it matched very well.
  3. You need the first one. I think the second one only covers Eastern Europe. There's a direct download link in an earlier post if you're not sure. I finally managed to download an error free file. For some reason my pc kept giving me file errors in the zip file, but it downloaded ok on another machine. 7-zip is recommended for unpacking the file but I found iZarc worked just as well. Make sure you've got plenty of time, it's a long download. Once it's downloaded you can either unpack direct to the original Skoda card or save it to your pc for checking, unpacking and later copying (see earlier posts for more detail).
  4. Well, it's not the zip program. 7-zip gives me same fail error as iZarc, both on the original download file and on a fresh download. In my original post I said that extracting direct to the card from the Skoda downloader gives same issue, so the problem must be with the download. I'll try a different pc over the weekend in case something on my machine is causing the issue.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion To put my comment another way - I have used 7-zip in the past (can't remember why I moved to iZarc but it was some years ago) and I was interested to know why you suggested it as a solution. In the interim, I've downloaded 7-zip, I'll try it later and report back.
  6. Why? Never had any problems with iZarc before. it's the file in the archive which appears to be corrupt.
  7. Attempting to update my maps card (Skoda Octavia v3 2016, Amundsen MIB2) but keep getting an error message when extracting the map files. Here's what I've done so far : Downloaded STD2_820_EU1_201718.zip to my desktop (three times now!) Attempted to extract files to both original card (direct from downloader) and to desktop (from zip file) Every time, I get en error extracting maps\00\nds\product\E11\routing.nds Everything else gets extracted with no problems When I test the zip file archive for integrity I get the same file failing (I'm using iZarc) I don't think I can face a fourth download of anything up to four hours! Has anyone else seen this error or got any idea whether it's terminal for UK mapping/routing? p.s. yes I do have a backup of the old map data!
  8. Too much of a faff to add them to the Amundsen. I use the Cameralert app on my phone. You can either play the alerts on the phone or transmit them via Bluetooth through the Amundsen.
  9. Sorted. I had to use the Amundsen menu to dismount my media card before I removed it and replaced it with the POI card.
  10. Sorted. I had to use the Amundsen menu to dismount my media card before I removed it and replaced it with the POI card.
  11. Sorry, catching up with this thread so may have missed the answer to my question. I like the look (and price!) of the Mini 0801 dashcam but there have been problems reported with it affecting DAB radio reception. Is this still the case with the Amundsen MIB2 fitted in the Mk3 Octavia? If so which other dashcams would peeps recommend which don't interfere? Ta much.
  12. Not getting any response via the ICE forum but perhaps someone here knows the answer? http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/401060-adding-pois-to-amundsen/ Ta much :sun:
  13. David@GAPInsurance is usually pretty good at responding to such queries. He has provided several of us with excellent advice and subsequently the right policy. If he's not along soon, suggest you send him a pm.
  14. Help! I must be doing something wrong but I can't work out what and I don't want to screw anything up. Using the 'My Destinations' portal on the Skoda Infotainment site, I have created POI's for National Trust and English Heritage and loaded to an SD card. The resultant PersonalPOI file structure and content looks the same as on the Skoda Maps card but the Amundsen (MIB model) doesn't show it when I use Nav>Version>Update. 1. So far I've had the Maps card in one slot and the new POI card in the second slot - should I remove the Maps card and just have the new POI card in one slot? 2. Since the Maps card already has POI's, will the new POI's add the additional categories or overwrite the original factory installed ones (yes I have backed up the Maps card just in case)? Any useful advice gratefully received.
  15. Another big thank you to David for his prompt responses to my queries, patience in providing clear explanations and information, and very competitive quotes. I too am about to take out a policy with gapinsurance.co.uk for my new Octy3
  16. Just thought I'd flag up Roadpro.tv which is currently offering discount price of £99 +p&p for the TB99 Tyrepal tyre pressure monitoring kit. Just bought one for my Octavia II, quick delivery, easy to install, regular and frequent monitoring and display of pressures and temperatures plus fast warning of any pressure drop. Peace of mind especially on long journeys. I have no connection with either Tyrepal or Roadpro.tv Sent from my SM-T310 using Forum Fiend v1.2.10.
  17. Oil changed, software updated, can't say I can tell any difference, guess that's OK then :-)
  18. Thanks guys. Car is going on on Monday and I'll make sure I speak to the service manager before I leave the keys :-)
  19. That's why I posted the relevant parts of the letter. Haven't arranged anything with the garage yet so I'd be interested to know if others have had same or different wording, or if anyone's gone in and had nothing done as a result of an inspection.
  20. Just had a letter from Skoda UK concerning my 11 plate Octavia DSG 7-speed "As part of regular product monitoring .... the synthetic oil used can lead to an internal short circuit and the blowing of the fuse for the gearbox. The failure causes the clutches to open and the vehicle freewheels. ... In order to prevent a possible breakdown, we would like to offer you a precautionary check .... If necessary, your gearbox oil will be changed to mineral oil ... free of charge" I'm a bit miffed as a) the service manager told me nothing needed to be done when I asked the specific question when the car was serviced in March. and b ) I apparently have to have a 'precautionary check' before I know if an oil change is required.
  21. Does that mean I can go back to using 95RON? At the risk of starting yet another thread on fuel quality, higher octane subjectively seems to make a difference to performance - and even a slight fuel consumption improvement.
  22. One year on (1.6FSI) and never had any problems with pinking except under load with 95RON petrol. Changing to higher RON fuel has cured this.
  23. I bought my Octy2 from Kings Heath, good price, excellent pdi and handover. When booking it in for it's first service last week I looked up the wrong number and called Halesowen by mistake. Since they were closer I booked it in anyway, after being given a good price and a promise that it would be ready inside two hours from leaving it at an agreed time. When I turned up the woman I dealt with had no idea what service I'd come in for (or needed), was more interested in chatting across the room to other employees, dismissed the price I'd been given but couldn't quote me a firm price (for a standard service!), and finally told me I'd be lucky to get the car back before mid-afternoon "as we have a lot of cars in today". At that point I realised there were more Peugouts than Skodas in the workshop, told her that my confidence in their ability to provide good customer service was completely eroded - and walked out. Drove straight over to Kings Heath, spoke directly to the service manager, booked it in for two days later. Arrived, was greeted by name, car was ready on time, price as quoted, and (small token but significant) remaining contents of antifreeze bottle and spray oil left in plastic bag in footwell for my use. Well pleased with the car; yes I will be dealing with Kings Heath again (despite the appalling lack of parking spaces); but I'll steer well clear of Halesowen. Copy of this posted on both the Halesowen and Kings Heath threads.
  24. Hardly a "standard" auto - has normal PRND slots, plus Sport mode and tiptronic (manual choice) gate. DSG has the dual clutch.
  25. Microsoft like it so much they bought the product  ! Microsoft® Firefox | We've Made it Better
