I've got a black Fabia Monte Carlo and it's about as easy to keep clean as any other colour. I invested in some fancy cleaning products and it looks good even if it's dirty. One annoyance is that road grit shows up very quickly because it's kinda white but other than that I see no problems. I definitely wouldn't see it as a deal-breaker when buying a car. Here's mine when it's clean:

Is it difficult to change the badges? What do you guys use as adhesive? Mine are looking a little worn

What did you do to your Skoda today?
stevenStefano replied to RobClubley's topic in General Automotive Chat
Washed the car literally 5 mins before it started raining -
New car and condensation!

My car has rubber mats. Perhaps carpet would be better, maybe they would absorb the moisture? Or is my logic flawed? I worked 11-9 today and the mats were still wet when I got in to go home -

I'm pretty sure when I got my car they treated the seats with such products and it made no difference. I've got a small dehumidifier and I think it makes a slight difference but not enough. I'll try ordering some of the products listed in other posts. I'm really fed up with this. Takes me ages to clear the windscreen then even when it clears if I turn the fan off to listen to the radio or whatever, it comes back instantly and I gotta turn the fans back on -
Yeah they're definitely worth fitting. Never had them on any cars before but got a set for my Fabia and fitted them a couple of days ago and I'm impressed, wind noise is much reduced, not silent but way way better

New car and condensation!

My car is awful for this at the minute. Takes me at least 10 mins to clear the screen and if I turn the fan off it comes back straight away. Never had this issue with other cars. I'll have to try some of the products listed in other posts. The air recirculation function definitely speeds the process up but not by much. Why can't all cars come with heated windscreens the way heated rear windows are now a feature on all cars? -
Light bulb warning light!
stevenStefano replied to Kermit82's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
I'm getting this now. I haven't really done anything that I think would cause this so it could be a total PITA to find why it's happening. I'll look at the rear lights and if there's nothing wrong there the problem could be anywhere -
Someone hit my bumper last week worse than in the pictures you showed and my alarm didn't go off

Is the chirp loud? It isn't activated on mine

Possibly buying a Fabia Monte Carlo
stevenStefano replied to fabatron's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
I haven't really found any problems or issues with mine other than the windows steaming up a lot which is hardly that big a deal. There's a load of speedbumps where I live so I have to be very slow over them but the ride is fine for me. I have the 105 version and it's very nippy compared to my old Fiesta -
Official Briskoda Fabia II Monte Carlo Register
stevenStefano replied to Full Monte's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Mine's a 2011 Monte Carlo I picked up a few weeks ago and traded in my old Fiesta. It' s the 105 TSI petrol No mods or optional extras really except for wind deflectors and MDI. I might get cruise control since the only arterial route out of my hometown has been 40mph for the past year and a half and will be for the next 2 years. They're turning the whole road into a motorway so they have to bypass 2 villages and demolish a ****load of houses, hence it takes ages. Using this forum has also opened my eyes to a whole new world of how to clean my car. I plan to go to Halfords next week and spend a load of money on all new gear for cleaning and polishing the new one -
When browsing through some sites looking at things I could get to jazz up my Fabia, I noticed this Octavia auto light switch and sensor. It got me thinking. Has anyone ever tried fitting this to their Fabia? Does anyone see any reason why it wouldn't work? If it would work, where would you put the sensor? I had auto lights in my old car and perhaps it's a little lazy but I found it quite handy
-
Perhaps yes but there's quite a few little annoying things like that I find about my car that I didn't have with my old Fiesta
-
Something I find annoying about the Swing is that it's either too loud or too quiet. 7 is too quiet and I find 8 too loud. Maybe I'll fiddle about with it a bit
-
I suppose that does make sense. I got my Fabia used and it has pretty much no optional extras and I've been thinking of things I could retrofit to make it a little nicer but staying OEM. I think looking at a MFSW is my next step
-
Would the Amundsen or Columbus be any better if I was just listening to music and the radio than the Swing? I'm thinking of upgrading
-
I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and someone hit my rear bumper yesterday, no idea who it was. Not massively damaged but really annoying

What should I keep in my car?
stevenStefano replied to sheldon_cz's topic in General Automotive Chat
Sunglasses and ice scraper. Got surgical gloves for work because if I leave them in the place they get nicked -
What? I've spoken to them literally every day since last Monday (apart from the weekend) and nobody mentioned anything like that
-
This was the first one I thought of. The Unforgiven is also a good one. There are a few Metallica songs that would be a good one, they're very clear and precise
-
I got it from a large franchise of dealers who sell a variety of used cars. I looked at a Fabia at a Skoda dealer and I would have got a 12 month warranty with it but they wanted £2000 more for an inferior car to the one I bought Yeah I'll get some pics, though I doubt it's anything anyone hasn't seen before, it's a black Monte Carlo. I'm in Larne so I'm a bit out of the way and my insurance on a car like that would be insane though they do look nice So (hopefully) a final update. I rang the DVA today and everything is sorted thank goodness. The car is registered in my name and the tax disc is in the post. I am confident I'll never have to go near the dealer again. Thanks for the advice and thoughts everyone

What browser are people using these days?
stevenStefano replied to Neo_VR's topic in The Technology Shed
For Desktop it's Firefox. It's nowhere near as good as it used to be though, kinda sluggish and bloated, I can't play games and have it running at the same time because it uses so much memory. It's also kinda crap with videos sometimes. So I use Chrome occasionally. The browser on my HTC phone runs way better than Chrome -
Orange were gonna charge me £30 for a new micro-sim. I took it to one of those dodgy small phone shops you see everywhere and they cut my old one for 50p and it's worked great
