  1. Ok that's great thank you. I've looked at my Maxidot. It says 1. Service due :12,500 2. Inspection due: now Can somebody quickly explain the difference to me, between the Service due and Inspection Due? I will also ring the garage and tell them not to reset the service one. Many Thanks
  2. Cool- thanks for all your help! Thank you very much for all your help- car is in tomorrow so I will let you know what happens This sounds like the issue- it's on the Maxidot displaying inspection due... How do I check the mileage to the next service? If the car has done 18k roughly how many miles should it display until the next service due? Any good links to read up on how to reset the inspection/service due screen...
  3. Update The have agreed to replace the oil to 504 00 and reset the service light FOC. Is this the best I could hope for? And will it have done any damage to the car- running it on the wrong oil for variable service intervals...
  4. It's on the service notes that they used VW 502 00. That's what I thought- but the mechanic who I spoke to swore blind that on a variable service the car could very reasonably be due a service after such a short period of time... They is the mechanic/technician who I spoke with- sorry should have mentioned this before... Conveniently there is no name just two signatures which aren't recognisable to make an informed guess of the persons name who signed off the paperwork...
  5. Ah ok I see. Yeh regardless the 504 is more expensive and better grade oil and that's what they charged me for... but I didn't get it. Be interested to see what everyone thinks about whether the oil sensor can monitor the grade of oil?
  6. So the oil sensor can monitor the grade of oil? I said this to the mechanic yesterday and he swore blind to me that the oil sensor can only monitor the heat of the oil...
  7. Yes it's on variable servicing. Can the oil sensor test the oil derogation, the service manager told me yesterday all the oil sensor does is mentor the oil temperature? What is an FOC oil change? They blamed me saying it was the driving style why the car needs a second service so soon? Can the oil sensor test the oil derogation, the service manager told me yesterday all the oil sensor does is mentor the oil temperature?
  8. Update [23/06/2015] Went to visit the dealer yesterday and they claimed that they only use VW 502 00 oil on all there petrol engine cars... They admitted that they did put the wrong oil in and it SHOULD have been the VW 504 00. However they are still saying the car needs its second service after 6,000 miles (18,000 total miles) and only 7 months after the first service which I refuse to believe. Any help/advice from you guys would be great before I give them a call back later on today ... Thanks, Monte
  9. Looks that way except they signed on the form saying that they reset the service indicator...
  10. Sounds like a good plan! So does it just sound like the car thinks it's due a service because it thinks it's 504 00 oil when its actually 502 00 so the sensors are messing up ... ??
  11. So do you think they've just forgot to reset the service indicator??? No I'm not on a 3 year service plan... Yes, I had it done then so it was done at the 12 month mark... Mainly, longer trips....
  12. Isn't it a joke though that even with 502 oil the car has only gone 6,000 miles. And no it hasn't been driving hard/fast... The car was variable to begin with and then I think they've moved it to fixed during the service... Right ok, not really worried if it's only flexible or fixed, just seems ridiculous that it's only gone 6,000 miles and 7 months between services... Am I wrong or should it do more than that between services?
  13. Hi Everyone, I purchased my new fabia monte carlo tech 1.2 105 tsi in Dec 2013. The car was serviced in Nov 2014 after doing 12,500 miles. Anyway, I was driving it last week and a message displayed on the dash saying: inspection due in 200 miles. The car has only done 18,500 miles- which means it's only done 6,000 miles (7 months) since its last service so I thought this was strange. Anyway, I looked into it and my car is on a 'Variable Service Interval' which means during oil changes it requires VW 504 00 Oil Spec. I looked at the service notes from Nov 2014 and they put VW 502 00 Oil Spec (aka the wrong oil ) I have two questions: 1. Will mixing the VW 504 00 Oil and VW 502 00 Oil do damage to my engine? 2. Should they be paying for this service because they put the wrong oil in the engine!! Thanks in advance for your help guys
  14. Update: had it in at skoda again and they told me its the clutch plate or thrust bearing or both! Monte
