  1. Thank you very much for that piece of info. I find EXtrons website a bit confusing to say the least, I will be changing over soon, just wanted to know a bit more about about Extron as I could not find a review on the PBX99MTVL at all. Thanks again...
  2. Hi, I'm looking to get rid of the Bolero from my 2009 Octavia VRS Limited Edition, I have been looking for a few weeks now at the Xtrons PBX99MTVL https://xtrons.co.uk/vw-seat-skoda-various-android-9-0-pbx99mtvl#:~:text=XTRONS PBX99MTVL employs 4GB of,faster execution of processor instructions. . Looking at the spec on the unit , it looks pretty good but for all my trying I cannot find any reviews on the head unit, tried Google, YouTube etc but no luck. What I would like to know is, has anyone tried this unit and if so, how good is it, is it reliable, does it need a new facia, just things like that. Thanks in anticipation
  3. No nothing at all, the garage where I took the car originally only seemed interested in the money and not a proper diagnostic, should know more in a couple of weeks. Will post whatever I find.
  4. I agree the main protagonist comes with these engines is the timing chain tensioner, will just have to make sure I have the latest revision of that tensioner when I get the job done. Have already had a reply from Jason at Lion Garage Hinckley, will take it from there, cheers mate.
  5. In reply to TheClient, The damage has not been fully assessed as the garage who has the car are very reluctant to strip the car down and actually tell me what the problem is, this is because they quoted me £5,800 to do the job and want that big pay day I reckon. Like I said the car drove ok after it initially cut out but it was still bleeping at me and displaying a red oil can on the display, so I think some sort of oil pressure loss. but after I had the independent inspection done by a company called ACE they showed me photos of the engine with the timing cover removed and there report stated the timing chain & tensioner were in position doing what they were supposed to do and said that the debris found in the sum & strainer were indicative of a crankshaft thrust washer failure meaning that the crank would be able to move backwards & forwards especially under clutch pressure. That is the best synopsis so far as the garage still won't strip the engine down to give me a solid answer. But that price range quoted is about right as I've been getting a few quotes in, just need to find someone who I can trust, and thanks to you guys I have a now have a couple of leads....thanks.
  6. Thanks to you both for your speedy replies, will give them a call & let you helpful guys know how it goes....Thanks a lot.
  7. I am the owner of a 2009 Skoda Octavia VRS Special Edition. The engine has died, driving along 1 day the engine management light came on, then a red oil can symbol started flashing away, the car cut out & would not start again. It started again after about 20 mins, rushed (carefully) to my local garage where was informed that it was the dreaded timing chain tensioner. To cut a long story short the garage said they would swap the engine for £5,800, which I have not got so I paid for an independent report which found that it was the crankshaft thrust washer that had given up the ghost. I have since had quotes ranging from £2000 to £3000 to do the job. As I have lost faith in my local garage I was wondering if anyone of you know of anyone in Birmingham who could this job for me, someone who is trustworthy, not the dealers please there just out of my price range. Any ideas would be most appreciated.
  8. Can anyone tell me which are the original floor mats for a 2009 Skoda Octavia VRS limited edition....??
  9. Hi was wondering if you could tell me how to determine which Bolero head unit I have in my MK2 Octavia VRS limited edition 2009??
  10. Thanks for all that great info, will take everything on board and get back to you...
  11. Hi all, A few weeks ago I had to make an emergency stop due to a young school boy running into the road whilst I was coming down a steep hill. The car stopped fine, I felt the ABS cut in and the car came to a halt in a straight line without skidding. Ever since then if I brake from high speed, say 50 or 60mph I get a very strong juddering through the steering wheel, I have had a look at the discs (Pagid less than six months old) and can fine nothing wrong, no discoloration or signs of warping as far as I can tell. The brakes have not lost any of their efficiency just judder like mad when braking from high speed. would love to hear any Ideas. Skoda Octavia VRS MK1 1.8T Thanks in anticipation
  12. I already got the clips from http://www.skodaparts.com/. but for the life of me I cant tell how they go on which way round or whatever, has anyone got any detailed pics of how to get these things on, which way round etc.??
  13. Hi all, Sorry for not replying sooner, what I did was compare the number of those white plastic grommets on the tailgate to the the amount of standoffs on the trim and across the wiper motor end there are only 4 of these plastic grommets but on the tailgate trim there are 6 standoffs, 4 of these do line up. There are also signs of that some sort of clips were in place on the edge of the tail gate at the wiper motor end as I can see marks on the metal but I don't know what the hell they are....I am totally miffed. I agree the trim I require is 1U6867605F as mentioned the one I have is exactly the same part number but ends with A not F.
  14. Hi, Am having a bit of a headache with the inner tailgate trim on my Octavia. A short while ago I ordered a used one of line, got the metal clips and I thought that would be it, but the tailgate trim that was sent to me has the part no: 1U6 867 607A but seems to have too many clips for the tailgate of my car. The tailgate on my car has 4 mounting points across the top whereas the trim has 6 mounting lugs across the top. I did some checking on line and found that there is another tailgate trim for my car?? part number 1U 867 605F. Can someone please tell me the difference between the two parts and which is the right one for my car, Reg: M80 VRS. Hope someone can help
  15. I am after the complete front ash tray (flap/cover, and mechanism) for a mark 1 Skoda Octavia VRS (so carbon trim). Anyone got one for sale?
  16. The ashtray pictured here in a kind of carbon effect....where can I get 1 for my MK1 Octavia VSR??
  17. Does anyone know where I can get hold of the foam boot tidy for a MK1 VRS (2002) 1.8T. I think this sits behind the spare wheel, without this in place I find that the boot carpet sags at the back. I saw one on eBay but they want silly money...
  18. Please be gentle with me as this is my first Skoda,......how do I select ASR?, find it hard to follow as I have 2 owner manuals but both seem to skirt around this issue.
  19. Hi guys, thanks for that, will defo let you know how it goes.....
  20. Just became the proud owner of a Mk1 Octavia VSR, got a problem with the MFD not displaying. When I start the car the MFD displays the usual per ignition components and there it ends after that the only display I get is the red car symbol when I open a door. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
