  1. Hello everybody, coming back to the forum to ask for help after a while! I own an '09 Octavia Combi L&K - 4x4 1.8 TSI, with about 82'000km I have been abroad for the whole 2015 and the car was only used once a month or so by my dad (just to keep it "alive"). I started using it again now in beginning 2016. The car drives just fine but I have tons of problems with electronics, especially with what I think to be "faulty" error warnings. After a first look on this forum and consultation with my technician we decided to replace the battery with a new one. Almost nothing changed. Summer is coming and on july I will have to travel a lot and I need the car to be reliable so I am considering to drive it up to a Skoda retailer and do a complete check. Of course this will cost plenty of money so I am just asking if there is something really simple that I should do / try before going to the workshop. Unfortunately I sold my VCDS cable last year so I am unable to do a self-scan. Any help is appreciated, here is a list of "errors" I get., all of them usually get off after switching off->on the car. *Engine Fault -> Workshop (I had this once or twice, some kind of "power limiter" is triggered - when restarting the car no more error or problem). *Brake Fault -> Workshop (I had this after braking on snow). *ESP Fault (after long steep turns to the left only i.e. roundabouts). Here another system seems to be triggered, making the steering wheel a bit softer - in additions, this error seems to be gone after changing from winter to summer tires last week. *No bend lighting (AFS). Thanks Sino
  2. No problem it's very well hided and should be the same in the Superb I guess
  3. ADDING lights without removing the existing ones shouldn't cause any "bulb fault" error. BTW you may not have enough power to light up them properly and your fuel consumption will (slighty) increase.
  4. Hi, don't know if it's related but after leaving an OBD Bluetooth adapter in the car my battery went completely flat. I used this one http://iobd2.co.uk/ to stream data to my iPad The port should be near the footwell, above the throttle pedal. Go down with a light to find it.
  5. Happened in front of a bar to me!!! They're very fast.. they were moving with a scooter on the sidewalk.. I suppose glass hammer + automatic/electric unscrewer. Less than 30 seconds, I guess
  6. Had the same issue in Milan, Italy, about 2 years ago. Covered by my private insurance, about 3000gbp of damage totally. Luckily they were very expert and they disconnected the Columbus without cutting any cable. From what I heard Columbus is much wanted from thief, both for selling on eBay and (to be confirmed) because it contains a chip which allows for credit card copy...
  7. Now that I successfully fitted my dectane smoked leds, I was wondering if there's someone around who has the brakelight (the strip above the rear glass, don't know how to call exactly..) smoked. Is it possible to buy it? If not, it's a good idea to black-smoke that with some spray like this one? http://www.amazon.com/VHT-Nite-Shades-Smoke-Translucent-SP999/dp/B0071O73LW Will I get good result? Will the paint last or not?
  8. Pretty sure not available/won't work for mkII, have to test. Great for mkIII but isn't it default?
  9. I found out... hehe At the beginning I tought DRL were acting as cornering when you have main beam on, then I found out that fogs are doing it! I'm thinking to these for the fogs (now they're the only light that's "yellow" and it looks strange... LOL) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H8-PGJ19-1-Xenon-WHITE-29W-HIGH-POWER-CREE-LED-Car-Fog-Bulbs-SKODA-/140976823617?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20d2df9d41 My car isn't listed there BTW, tough it's the same lamp.. For the pictures I'm planning a little session, a friend has to borrow me his reflex so I can tweak a little to get the right exposition to have good pictures of the lights. AS for the leds, radders... These one are not arrived yet and I'm not going to install.. considering the other leds I received in these days those looks really bad built!
  10. Switched to white because the green ones where a bit "toxic" and didn't match well with the crew leds (I tought it could be good to recall some green from skoda brand but it is not...) White are fine! Thanks for the guide..!
  11. Okay, another little update... Installed the Dectane rear leds... they look amazing and also when they're not lit up they make the car more "aggressive" (black smoked on black car..) Installed the puddle lights... Tried green but was a bit "toxic" and also inappropriate with the crew leds which are white/bluish, so I switched to white right now and they are good. Also I installed some LEDs for the license plate. They gave me an error on the board so I soldered some 28ohm, 6W resistor on them and now they work fine.. All tested in a 500km trip these days and didn't get any problem. The only thing left to mod are the mirror lights and the fog light
  12. That's definitely true but due to the fairly "new" (or raising..) led technology this "Watt" thing is used to compare standard halogen bulbs to LED. Even the manufacturers of lamps like Philips or Osram are using this "Watt comparison". It's like sayin "with this 5W LED you have the same light of a 50W halogen". As you can see here, for example http://www.svetila.com/images/led.pharatom-e27-box.jpg I saw some of your posts and seems you're really (over)scared about the thermal thing on LEDs. This might a problem with crappy chinese led like THESE but believe me when I say that If the housing is good built like these lamps from BIG Nick (that I just bought.. and they are not cheap..) then you don't have problem (otherway you'll have problem with your LED Tv, your LED Torch, your LED lamps in the kitchen and everywhere..). Generally speaking, LEDs can produce about 10x the lumen output of a normal halogen lamp with the same incoming power. The standard DRL halogen lamp in an Octavia is a 21W. Not too hard to dissipate 15W of power with resistor and give the remaining 6W to the LEDs for example. These leds posted from BigNick are completely safe and I believe they'll last for years, so I think it's totally unnecessary to scare other people who might want to buy these...
  13. Ok here we are: 1Z0 035 729 A No Adaptations/Coding regardin music in VCDS, in the Car (w. Columbus) I have the BT icon "greyed out" under the MEDIA menu.
  14. As always, I reccomend OSRAM tool for detailed specs on your car... http://am_application.osram.info/publish/index_en.html BTW if Halogen are H7 lamps, I suggest OSRAM Nightbreakers (for white) or Cool Blue Intense (for bluish) If you have Xenon then you have OSRAM XENARC series (lamps are D2S, 85V 35W P32d-2
  15. If it takes some secs to start the engine it may also be the common faulty tensioner problem... I'd go for a check...
  16. I am unable to identify the module since I have electronic seats and it's difficult to go down there... Can I discover the module number via VCDS? Thanks
  17. Tried via VCDS and seems it's the same as Maxidot, it does not let me set the volume a 0 (range is 1 to 9).
  18. Installed mine today, green. Will wait tonight for a true test, anyway white looks better (with green you see the single leds more..) Same install with 3mm drill, had a bit trouble wiring it up because the connector for the standard door light is really short so I drilled the housing of the bulb and connected the wires directly to the bulb
  19. Hallo everyone, today my Ross-Tech VCDS cable arrived... I'm practicing a little bit with it... car is Skoda Octavia II FL Combi 4x4 TSI 118kw, 2009. I succesfully did some mods right now, telephone bong gone, rain closing set to permanent and I activated easy-entry (seat moving back while opening door and going back in place after putting the key on the ignition..) I was around some modules for the whole day both in adaptation and long coding modes... Here are some question: -How do I know the SECURITY ACCESS code? Tried one from Ross-Tech wiki but didn't worked! Also, does this code unlock more adaptations/coding possibility? -I have the "auto mirrors down" when reversing ON and visible in MFA (stock) but seems it's not working anymore, how can I enable/disable via VCDS? -I read it's impossible to enable 2nd rear fog light with VCDS on FL octavia, is this still true? -Is it possible to make parking lights off with low beam (xenon)? -Is it possible to make DRL cornering instead of fog lights? -Is it possible to modify the easy entry setup? I mean, the seat goes back but about 3cm and not fully... Thankssss
  20. Not really interested in the holder but.. how you managed to run cables under the dash cover?
  21. From what I understood from the manual, the Tourist Light settings is made for when you drive in a foreign country with opposite directions. If you have HIDs, this set will invert the height of the beams: for you in UK, the right beam should be lower than the left one to avoid blinding driver on the opposite lane.
  22. Share your tips for phone holding in car! I'm currently using BREFFO but I'm also considering the TETRAX as a next purchase... Ev. show your installs for hidden charge cables!
