Complete VCDS Guide - v1.2 - Updated 10/1/17
badger89 replied to badger89's topic in Skoda Fabia Guides
Link updated - now working! This guide has been downloaded over 10,000 times! -
Sounds silly, turned it off and then back on? Also do you have multiple menus?
-
Also, is it a genuine unit?

Running fine when cold but rough when warm
badger89 replied to Thor101's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Could also possibly the Injector Loom, these tend to show wear when oil / engine is warm. -
It starting and cutting out would suggest an immobiliser problem. Tried another key?
-
When you say coded in, you had the immobiliser coded too?
-
Sounds like the flashing to the ECU has either failed or the incorrect map was flashed onto the car. If it's fails to catch then it's the map that's the problem. If it starts and dies after 1-2 seconds it's the immobilser on the ECU that's the problem.

You are using an the incorrect VCDS interface for your car (assuming you have the car in your profile picture). You need to use the full / newer VCDS (non-VCDS-Lite version) which requires it's own genuine Ross-tech interface as found here - www.ross-tech.com. There are other alternatives, look at Carista for iPhone

Mine is doing the same with full car in 6th trying the accelerate up a hill. Dropped it to 4th and pulled like a train. I do find that 5th is more economical around 60mph if you have the longer ratio g'box.

Cheers bud :)

Having looking at the PCB for the Fabia and Polo clocks, this guide would also work with the exception of removing the fuel gauge needle - you will need to rotate it anti-clockwise to get it off. I'll update the guide to include Fabia and Polo in due time.

I wrote this guide primarily for the Ibiza / Cordoba but can't see the Fabia or Polo being any different - someone willing to confirm? www.thebadgerbox.co.uk

Yeah, few Fabia owners have tried it and they work just as good, I ideally need a Fabia and Polo myself to test and confirm :) -

Breaking (another) Seat Ibiza PD130 - (UPDATED - 04/01/2017)
badger89 replied to badger89's topic in Breaking cars
So I've had another Ibiza in as I needed the engine for other projects. There is loads of parts left so the first post has been updated as of today (20/12/16). PM me for details if needed. Thanks -
With age and mileage, check the breather pipe going to the inlet is clear and not full of crud. You may find the oil could be seeping through the turbo oil seals and gradually being consumed by the engine. Worse case scenario is that the piston rings could be worn and oil running pass them or the valve stem seals have passed it and the oil is leaking through that way, but the smoke would be obvious with blue smoke on start up when cold etc...

Advice needed on turbo and group 11 log
badger89 replied to Andy5co's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
If you put on a turbo that's anything but standard, then you'll need it remapped - otherwise the car ECU will try and compensate the boost through the N75 and at a peak of 1.8bar, you'll need to drive it carefully and avoid full throttle until it is mapped. Other advice has already been said about stop screw and actuator rod so that also needs doing. You'll be able to tune the car so it runs standard power, more power or if you're worried about your brother, less... You can limit power in top revs, place on a speed limiter and other options
