  1. hello, I'm having the same problem, my compression test results are almost the same as dohnjoe's. so I would like to ask if you could put photos and step by step guide on how to do this. Thank you!
  2. that is correct and my skoda also did that but from now the working temperaure is 100 degrees and it never cools it to 90.
  3. thanks for the reply. Could you please be more specific since I don't understand. At the picture fan kicks in where you have painted red line and the gauge stays there. Could you please explain it one more time?
  4. Hi everyone, I already posted this topic in order to find solutions. here is a brief memo: I changed thermostat and coolant but my temperatrure gauge shows 105 degrees when fan kicks in. Now, you gave me a lot of useful advices but in order to spare myself on costs I first used laser thermometer on engine head and block as well as on the coolant hoses. The result was that everywhere temperature was 93 when coolant kicks in but my temp gaguge still shows 105 degrees. so what could be the problem what gives me a false readings? Also the temperature on the engine block was 130 degress (celsisu) is that ok?
  5. I did everything you mentioned, flushed 3 times, cleaned fan fins and still nothing. I too am afraid of the head gasket. although I noticed something different than before: the lower radiator hose isn't heating equally like the upper hose. The upper hose is hot and the lower hose starts to heat at about 100 degrees?
  6. I thought and checked everything already and everything seems to be fine. The problem started with the engine temperature at 100 degrees and leaking of the waterpump I changed water pump, thermostat and coolant but the engine temeprature still reaches 100 degrees and in that moment thermostat kicks in. I am out of ideas.
  7. Hi, I have a problem with engine. Every time I come to halt on traffic lights and put car on idle engine turns off. The problem started like this: first i replaced water pump, belt, belt tensioner, thermostat, and intake pressure sensor and coolant. After doing that car started to misfire and I took it to a mechanic who moved a little bit ignition distributor. With him doing that the misfireing of car stoped but now engine turns off on idle. Any sugesstions please? The car is Skoda Felicia 1,6 LX, 1997.
  8. The problem with the engine was intake pressure sensore which broke off while I was lowering the engine. I replaced it and now it is ok. But the engine temperature is what confuses me. I replaced new thermostat 87 degrees, but the fan kicks in on 100 degrees adn the engine wokrs all the time on 100 degrees. BNefore it worked on 90 degrees. What could be the problem?
  9. Hello again, I changed water pump, belt and belz tensioner yasterday as well as thermostat. Engine thermostat housing is a part on the engine where all hoses are connected and where you put a thermnostat in it. The screw thread broke there and it was plastic thread. I fixed that part by putting larger screw in it. Now I have other problem regarding engine. I marked phases prior to dissassembly but the engine is not in phase. I moved the belt for one teeth back and forth but without success. I put the clip into upper dead point again no success, I even rotated the phase in the gearboy but nothing. Please help me!
  10. 1) I will post the picture tomorrow. 2) the expansion tank was empty The water pump i Airtex, a division of ASC Industries. I Bought it in Croatia at the autopart store, and local mechanic with my help installed it during the regular belt replacement. We did it in my garage. I will post more information when i disassemble all parts.
  11. Hi, Today everything went wrong and all started like this: While I was driving the temperature went above 110 and first i Thought it is thermostat, but i was confused when I saw that the cooler rotates. Nevertheless I bought new thermostat (upon closer inspection the old thermostat as well as its case were ok) and whil I was mounting it the thread on the engine housing broke up. So here is my first question: Can I repair the thread or do I have to buy a new engine housing for the thermostat? Second, I noticed cooler leaking under the carter and I suspected it can be water pump, but I changed new water pump with belt 1 year ago. And there is a squeaking noise near the water pump. Any ideas on this? Do I hafve to buy a new water pump or does the old one has guarantee? Thank you in advance!
  12. Pozdrav i tebi zemljace iz kojeg si grada? thank you all for your greetings!
