  1. Wife has just bought Fabia II estate on a 59 plate. I drive converted VW T5. Always find forums very useful. Anyway within a day with the wifes' Fabia the remote central locking started playing up and only worked intermittently. I did a Google search and had a look on this Forum but didn't see an obvious answer. Both keys were in sync and I had also changed batteries. Car started fine with the key and still seemed to lock ok. I did notice (when not working) when the key was pulled from the ignition the radio stayed on and when locking with the key the dead locking system did not work, i.e. the LED flashed but after 30 seconds or so not straight away. Anyway turns out there is a micro switch or sensor in the ignition that recognises when the key is in the ignition. This sensor has developed the fault and registers the key being in ignition hence the radio stays on until switched of on the button and deadlocks don't work, with a key registered as being in ignition, as this is a safety feature when your driving so you can escape from the car in emergency. I guess its all pretty obvious really and non franchised dealer has ordered a new ignition switch ( a four week delivery wait ) and will repair it under their warranty. Posted for your information incase anyone else has a similar problem.
