  1. Ours was a bargain, had been sat for 5 months from date of reg to when we got it. It was a staggering 7k less than list by the time the deal was signed! Funny old world though. Should I want a new vag non mock Tudor 4x4 with a petrol engine I have to have a Golf or A4. Skoda and Seat only offering the 2.0 oil burner in the Octavia and Leon. So that's me with our car as a long term keeper.
  2. We looked at an A4 tfsi quattro avant. Boot way smaller than the Octavia and a lot less rear leg room.Better spec and trim but the 4 rings on the bonnet also carries its own problems and stigma :-) In the end it was a no brainer for me. Similar car for same money, only difference was the A4 was 3 years old with 40k and the Octavia was pre reg with 11 miles on the clock... Mines since had a revo stage 1 so performance on a par with the A4, cheap way into a quick capable new car.
  3. Dunno! I had mine done when there were no discount offers on! I live in northants and felt revo was the way to go on the tsi so Northampton Motorsports was the natural choice.
  4. Northampton Motorsports are excellent revo agents. Mine was done there. Turned it off for warranty work a couple of times foc. Highly recommended
  5. I see! Albert King and then Cream had something to sing about that... :-)
  6. Why? The chances of tensioner failure are remote in the extreme.
  7. Look In maxidot, menu - vehicle status. It will tell you miles/days to next service. Mine is due in 100 miles so off to the dealers a week on Wednesday.
  8. That's a good result. Those black circles are the only thing between you and the ditch! Hope you get on better with the Coopers.
  9. My 2011 manual 1.8 tsi 4x4 with maxidot has it.
  10. True, not many are billiard table flat from verge to crown either.... You could take a wheel chock with you if you have paranoid tendencies :-)
  11. Turn the wheels into the kerb. Simples as they say :-)
  12. Wow! Can't believe you uploaded that video. Reckless speed in a built up area.it was posted as a 40 km limit no? No thought for pedestrians or other road user Terrible lines reducing your distance visibility. No regard to property adjoining the road and the risk of vehicles joining with reduced visibility. Bad overtake on the two cyclists, you should afford them as much room as a car not skim past their handlebars. Driving like that will end up in a nasty mess. Speed is not the problem - appropriate speed and good roadcraft see to that. Unfortunately none of that are on display here. The village and surrounding looked stunning. Your a lucky boy to live there. Fingers crossed you only spoil your day not somebody else's when you drive like that.
  13. As Cheshire cat has posted. My 1.8 tsi was as good as bone dry when the sump plug was pulled after sucking the contents out. Next oil change I won't bother with the plug! I have a boat that can only have the oil changed via suctioning the oil out. No problems at all. Along with several gensets at work that have done thousands of hours on this sort of oil change regime. The key thing in my opinion is to never ever use an engine flush, regardless of extraction method or engine condition. Its pointless in well looked after vehicles and can be catastrophic in poorly maintained ones.
  14. Indeed, 26k 3 years 2 months old no problems whatsoever on vag screenwash. £4 makes 4l in winter, 5 in Summer, excellent cleaning. Why would you use pound shop cack? :-)
  15. Not a mapped CR but standard 170 Passat and a truly awful 318 estate with m sport pack. That was probably the biggest let down I have ever driven. Good knows why there are so many of them. I raise your mapped CR with a mapped tsi :-) Our millage rules out an oil burner, they have their place, especially where milage economy and bik are concerned. Fortunately I don't have to worry about any of the above. I just find it odd when people say why would you ever consider a petrol when there are manifold reasons why I would rule out a diesel.
  16. Because there's more to life than worrying about fuel consumption. I hate the way 4 cylinder diesels deliver their power, they can never be as smooth as a petrol and the performance trade off for thermal efficiency is just too great. That and having to put gloves on to refill it with the devils fuel :-) For me, diesels belong in vans and boats where economy over performance is a major consideration. Different folks different strokes ;-)
  17. No complaints with my revo map, had it switched off a couple of times for dealer work, revo agent nothing but helpful. Saving pennies for stage 2....
  18. Just not much! Being exiled is usually a force of circumstance. I know some poor sods from Northamptonshire who have ended up over the border in Leicestershire, a greater tragedy could not befall a person! lol
  19. :-) Tbh I have never found the above true, I've worked with a lot of guys from Wakefield, we moved a factory from there to northants, to a man they were great guys to work with and get to know over the couple of years I worked with them. I also know a few refuge Cockney's in Milton Keynes, that saying is tailor made for those buggers!
