  1. Just logged back in for the first time in forever- WOW!! What an amazing job you've done. We've had to SORN ours until we have the money for repairs but this will make me push harder for it! I wonder how much someone would pay for a rebuild like this...!
  2. Would be very interested if you manage to do this/find someone. We are in bristol and have the fun pickup too although it's currently SORN after an MOT failure that would cost too much to do in one go. Ours also needs a fair amount of welding so please do update if you get it done
  3. Wedding out of the way... meaning we can get some funds on the go and get her back on the road again... I'm looking at taking a car restoration course at a local college (10 week - £130, I think that's pretty good!) which teaches welding amongst other things - so hopefully with a bit of help she'll be SORN'd no longer! Watch this space... P.s if anyone is in Bristol one weekend and wants to lend a hand...
  4. Wow, that went completely over my head! lol. It has always been terrible on fuel, so if it's running rich that doesn't surprise me. I just hope we can save her :( We have a few friends who are "mechanically able", and are hopefully going to have a look and see if they can help us out... Watch this space, I guess! I don't think i could bring myself to scrap her. I wonder if there is a quirky organisation or company out there that might want some free advertising on her in trade for repairs...
  5. Yeah, we've been quoted over £900 and that's if they don't come across anything else amiss... It's a shame as the mot runs out at the start in November and then we are getting married so just can't afford it :( We have a friend who is a welder, we are hoping he'll be able to help somewhat and bring the cost down otherwise it's rip little truck :(
  6. Dohnjoe it does idle very low on start ups but is then absolutely fine once you drive away. I don't think the throttle has ever been cleaned... Defo not a crack in the manifold - bloke has been on the phone again today and it's leaked gas from every join... Oh joy!! I'll take a picture of the cert now... Only had the emissions one at home before and have this one now
  7. Thanks Tom, that does make sense as the exhaust is noisy, didn't realise a blow would cause it to fail though. We'll take a look at the exhaust. I'm super annoyed because the mot guy did say it was the worst fitting of an exhaust he's ever seen. Covered in paste apparently? Sigh! Thanks so much for you help though If I put the fail results up on here too, do you reckon you might be able to see if we have a really poorly fun or are perhaps being ripped off??
  8. Hi Tom. Stupid me left the certificate at home - i will take a look and pop them up here later. I think it failed on everything except idle... but not certain until i double check.
  9. It's that time of year again... MOT on our X reg fun. Having already had a new exhaust, Cat & Lambda fitted earlier in the year, is there any other reason why (other than a shoddy fitting) it would fail on emissions? There are a few other minor things too. It may be the end of the old girl... perhaps she can find a better life with a new owner :( This isn't me asking how much i should sell her for, but could anyone tell me how much they purchased their fun for? Currently for sale I can only see prices of the area of £1.5K in great condition, or something stupid like £100 for a shell and a non-working engine... not exactly the best market to try and find a price for! (i will totally take out my last question if its not appropriate)
  10. What did you use to clean the yellow leather up so well? (if you dont mind me asking?)
  11. Think I may have seen this one for sale! Looking forward to seeing more
  12. I knew I was being stupid! Thanks so much! I think I tried to over complicate things.... Blonde moment :(
  13. Firstly, apologies for the stupid question! Our passenger side rear light has gone (as a policeman kindly pointed out to me the other evening) I cannot for the life of me find one online. My usual go to (euro car parts) doesn't stock them online. Rang them up - they don't stock them. I can find one set of them on Ebay, under a shop that has loadddsss of bad feedback recently, but ideally we need this ASAP, not waiting a week for it to arrive. Am i most likely being silly - yes :( Can anyone shed any light on where to source a replacement? I haven't had a look yet, but any idea how to access the bulb to replace it? its a W Reg 2000 1.6 felicia fun
  14. Hello all! Apologies for this post. I can see this has been asked before, but i haven't managed to find an answer :( We are looking at 2 things - a tonneau cover and a bed liner (or lining spray) I don't want the hard workman top, just a soft tonneau cover. I've seen images of them everywhere but don't know where they are sold! These are the ones which fits flat to the back with zips down the edges so you can bring the back seats out, and a separate part which also clips over the back seats too, with clear 'windows'. I haven't had any luck with this, and have tried a few companies around Bristol/Swindon but they don't make them. With the bed liner/spray, I've had a few quotes of around £400+VAT - which seems quite expensive when i'm sure we could either do this fairly easily ourselves, or borrow the services of our friend who does bodywork/resprays for a living. Anyone have any luck with either of these?
  15. Thanks guys - that's something we can look at! It seems to be one thing after another at the moment!! Would the throttle cable being slack be the issue if it only idles too low when starting up? Once I hold the revs up to normal for anywhere between 10secs - 1 minute it's fine then, even stopped in traffic it's fine - just starting up :(
  16. Me again... We seem to have discovered a new problem! Car idles very low when started up, and will cut out unless you rev it for a while. Then, it's fine. Happens from starting up cold, but also when I've parked up for an hour too. Any ideas??
  17. II'll tell that to the boyfriend, i'm sure he'd be happy.....!!! haha It's just come out of the garage.. £120 for part, £20 labour. I'm happy with that! Fingers crossed that's it now. I'll be having stern words with the car later.....
  18. New Catalytic Converter Fitted New Centre Box Exhaust fitted Where our old exhaust was cut and welded in an awful way, it was a bit of a pain to get on, but it's on. Unfortunately on the way home, we noticed car feeling a bit odd. Decelerating very quickly when not on the gas and an awful smell. Parked up and the brake disc was BRIGHT Red. Boo. So off to the garage again today, we think the calliper has seized. Also appears as if the Cat Sensor is cracked too, so a new one of these. Is it common Occurrence for these things to all go at ones, or just Sod's law? Anything else we should keep an eye on, then tends to go after 14 years and 100k? At the moment.. it's Wedding or Car? (Boo!!!) :(
  19. Time to add ours!! W reg (2000) fun, 100k on the clock and counting Paint is black, bodywork is pretty good for its age. We've owned it for 3 years now with no major issues, driven daily We're in Bristol but my boyfriend travels a lot for baseball so you might see us anywhere in the south west! I'll try to grab some pictures later, but on mobile at the moment. In the meantime, Someone has snapped some pics of it and done a write up. I'm not sure on the policy here for posting links so please delete it if it's not ok : http://www.psychoontyres.co.uk/happy-pick-up-skoda-felicia-fun-typ-796/
  20. Oo, I might see if we can find some of those window things that's a good idea On a slightly less happy note we got the fun in the air today. Upon taking off the centre box, large chunks of our cat converter fell out :( :( :( To top it off, the exhaust hadn't been fitted properly so a quick tighten solved the hissing but it still need replacing. Back in the garage Monday for a new cat and new centre box (already bought) which doesn't for until we order a sleeve, the garage previously completely bodged it. Sad times!! But I'll head over to the fun reg now
  21. Good to know it's not just ours! Very annoying though... It almost seems like condensation, and i dry it all off, go down to road, drip drip drip. Gah! Is there anything you can do about it? I'm thinking of buying a car cover maybe, which would go over sunroof and windscreen, but got a feeling that might go 'walkies' in our car park... Also, I've kind of hijacked my own thread here: our Exhaust now seems to be more than just the clip broken. Along the with dragging-on-the-floor noise it makes coasting in gear, it has now developed a 'hissing' noise, when over around 2000rpm. Seems to be coming from the centrebox so rather than faff about we've ordered a new one (£30 bargain!!). Hopefully be here by Friday and we can get it fitted on the weekend. I have a funny feeling it has something to do with the welding they did on the exhaust at MOT in November... I'm sure my partner mentioned that some part of the exhaust was just completely cut off and thrown away??!? sigh...
  22. After closer inspection it appears to be a loose clip on the exhaust... we hope! Once we get a chance to get the thing up in the air then we'll be able to fix it and hopefully solve the problem. I've also bought a few service parts too which we'll be fitting, and hopefully that will solve the low idling upon start up, too. I'll get him to to the distributor trick with WD40, i don't think i could do that myself... Have also noticed the windscreen appears to be letting in some water, as driver side carpets are wet. boo. Here's another question (might be related to windscreen leak) does anyone else find in the cold wet weather that condensation builds up on the sunroof? Driving along and suddenly DRIP DRIP DRIP, cold water down my neck. Seats aren't wet so doesnt appear to be a leak there...
  23. Sorry dohnjoe missed your reply earlier! There was no nasty bump, just a little flooded across the road and didn't notice it until last minute so it did splash up. Our fun does have a few little quirks that we are gradually getting fixed, and had some welding done on the exhaust at mot in November so we'll check that first. I wonder if the welding wasn't as good as we'd hoped... we don't have time or enough light to look at it tonight, so will update with our findings soon! I'm planning on doing a service on it soon anyway, so might as well do it at the same time. Next step: suspension, and clutch.... It's all roadworthy, but wanting to fix a few things before they finally give way. Especially the clutch... Learning in a band new diesel and going to this almost makes my partner cry... Not that I ride the clutch on purpose of course!
  24. It is running again, although had some white on the inside of the oil cap, and is still a little juddery at times, especially when starting it up from cold. The last time we changed them was around a year and a half ago, and my partner has never had it serviced in the 3 years we've owned it (shock horror!!!) As it's gone over 100k recently, and as i'm a newbie driver, i'm just being over cautious i think. Good shout on the mounting idea... didn't even think that it might be something as simple as that. We'll get it jacked up on the weekend (needs a new back tyre anyway) and take a look! Thanks
