Bye bye Fabia, hello Roomster!
professorfate replied to professorfate's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Found my first issue with the Roomy, the dreaded ariel amplifier failure! How can I access the front-mounted base without having the complete headlining removed - can I access the base by removing the interior light unit? -
Bye bye Fabia, hello Roomster!

Cheers folks, Briefly considered replacing the Furby with a compact SUV of some sort, but common sense prevailed and am content to return to the Skoda family fold. The only thing the Roomy lacks for me is a little more ground clearance... -

abs module replacement query
professorfate replied to professorfate's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
After doing some Googling it appears that coding is likely to be required unless I can get the socket replaced - as the car's not worth much could be off to the scrappers -
After clearing out water ingress to the abs multi connector on my Bosch 5.7(?) unit, found two of the pins have snapped. If I can source a used item will the new module require encoding or are they plug-n-play. Thanks folks...

Can two abs sensors fail together?
professorfate replied to professorfate's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Some good pointers folks! Have checked the existing resistance on a new, unused sensor i have so will check the fitted ones to compare. Assuming they'll be good (almost invariably...) and the wiring to the abs ecu connector is good, is the remaining fault going to be likely the pump? -
Recently had the ABS and TCS (triangle with ! inside) light up. My fault code reader indicated both rhs abs sensors faulty (codes 285/287 if i remember correctly?). After a handful of ignition cycles the warning lights extinguished only to come on again several cycles later. The large fuses on top of the battery are ok and i've wd40'd the sensor connectors, but lights still on. Before i start ordering new sensors what is the likelihood of both failing simultaneously?

EGR excessive flow conundrum
professorfate replied to professorfate's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Sorry to bump this thread but nothing found so far to solve the problem. As need to adapt a new egr valve got a quote from local main dealer to fit new one and would be in region of £400(parts/labour and clean inlet manifold which didnt seem very coked up when i cleaned the throttle) ! Can a new valve be fitted without adapting? -
EGR excessive flow conundrum
professorfate replied to professorfate's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
OOps, forgot to mention that valve doesn't seem to be stuck open - the liquid cleaner didn't flow between the ports. Will recheck the servo pipe for a leak... -
Hi folks. Yet another egr post but this one's got me stumped. BBZ engine with EGR Excessive Flow code on my OBD reader, no biggie as have cleaned valve previously but this time has not worked so cleaned throttle body (kept it connected to wiring loom) and the transfer pipe which wasn't blocked.WD40'd all the connectors. Went for a decent run afterwards (engine running fine) but Dash Light still on... any ideas
